[Ding!]

[Your Advancement Mission has been updated.]

[New Objective: Stop Cain’s group from destroying the World Gate Core.]

[Mission Requirement: Prevent Cain and his allies from destroying the World Gate Core.]

Serath’s expression turned solemn as he had never expected that his Advancement Mission would be updated.

This meant that Cain’s single advancement had been enough for the System to alter his mission.

Serath’s eyes narrowed.

’What kind of monster is that bastard?’ Serath thought to himself as he couldn’t believe that Cain’s improvement was so massive as to even turn around the situation 180°.

Serath’s frown deepened as he raised his arm and blocked the incoming palm.

BANG!

Black Heavenly Demon Qi exploded against his forearm.

The force pushed Serath backward several meters, but he quickly stabilized himself before his feet could leave the ground completely.

Mo Xuanye attacked again without hesitation.

His black eyes remained calm as Heavenly Demon Qi gathered around his body once more.

Serath turned his wrist and struck forward.

The two collided again.

At the same time, lightning flashed from behind.

Ron appeared with his spear already descending toward Serath’s shoulder.

Serath twisted his body and avoided the spearhead by a narrow margin before catching the shaft with one hand.

The moment his fingers closed around it, Viktor arrived from the side.

The huge man’s fist carried tremendous force as it smashed toward Serath’s ribs.

Serath released the spear and crossed his arm in front of his body.

BANG!

His feet slid across the broken street.

The three humans continued attacking without giving him enough time to breathe.

Serath’s expression remained composed, but his thoughts were moving quickly.

He had expected the humans to eventually become troublesome.

But, he had never expected Cain to become the factor that could potentially decide the outcome of this battle.

Then Mo Xuanye’s palm arrived again.

Serath immediately turned his attention back to the fight.

He needed a solution.

And he needed it soon.

He quickly thought about it while fighting against the trio.

Quite far away, Cain had already finished checking the changes within his body.

The newly awakened Purgatory Origin continued circulating through his body, and the feeling of his refined Purgatory Flame was completely different from the energy he had controlled before.

Elara stood beside him.

Her sword remained in her hand, but her attention was clearly on Cain rather than the battlefield.

"How do you feel after advancing to the 2nd Echelon?"

Cain looked toward her.

Elara hesitated briefly before continuing.

"How much stronger did you become?"

There was concern in her voice.

She had watched the battle in the central region for long enough to understand that the situation was becoming dangerous.

The Youngest Prince had been fighting Mo Xuanye, Ron, and Viktor without being overwhelmed.

Even after the three of them went all out, Serath remained capable of resisting them.

Naturally, Serath was also using his full strength.

Elara understood that much.

But she could not shake the feeling that he was still hiding something.

His reaction after several of his subordinates had died only made that suspicion stronger.

Even after Cain, Aurelia, and herself had advanced, Serath continued fighting as if he still had something he could rely on.

Elara looked at Cain with a worried expression.

Naturally, Cain noticed it.

Instead of answering immediately, he smiled faintly and reached over to pat her head.

"Don’t worry about it. Even though that bastard’s strength is truly monstrous, we have a high chance to win now that I’ve advanced to the 2nd Echelon."

"Really?"

Elara’s eyes lit up slightly.

"Of course." Cain smiled before adding with a chuckle, "Since when have I ever lied to you?"

Elara rolled her eyes in response.

Cain laughed softly.

He withdrew his hand and turned toward the battlefield.

The sound of explosions continued to echo through the ruined city.

Tang Ziyue and Sonya were still fighting their respective 3rd Echelon commanders, but both battles had already reached their final stage as their opponents were heavily wounded after everything they had endured.

Cain rolled one shoulder before stretching his neck.

"Let’s go."

He sheathed his sword and began walking forward.

His pace was casual as if he was taking his time walking toward the main battlefield.

Then he raised his left hand, Mana surged through his body.

The Purgatory Origin responded immediately as a brilliant flash of energy appeared above Cain.

One lance formed.

Then another.

The sixteen Purgatory Solar Lances emerged in the air around him.

They were completely different from the golden-white lances Cain had used before.

Their surfaces were no longer covered purely in golden-white Solar energy as deep violet flames wrapped around each lance, and the centers carried a dark crimson glow.

Thin golden lines moved through the bodies of the weapons like molten veins, occasionally flashing along their edges before disappearing beneath the surface.

The lances were also noticeably denser.

Their shapes were slimmer and sharper, with the Purgatory Flame compressed so tightly around their cores that the surrounding air distorted from the heat.

Cain had used Origin Solar Lance to pierce the defenses of 3rd Echelon commanders before.

But these were no longer the same weapons as the Purgatory Origin had completely changed them.

Cain’s golden eyes settled on the two distant battles.

The sixteen lances moved.

They gathered together in the air before merging into four.

Their pressure immediately became heavier.

Cain separated them into two groups.

Then two of them flew toward Tang Ziyue’s opponent, while the other two shot toward Sonya’s.

The commanders noticed the approaching attacks.

Their expressions changed.

They had already experienced Cain’s previous Solar Lances.

Under normal circumstances, blocking two attacks from him would not have been particularly difficult for either of them.

But their current condition was far from normal.

The first commander raised his weapon.

BOOM!

One Purgatory Solar Lance slammed into it.

The impact forced his arms downward.

Before he could recover, the second lance struck.

His defense finally collapsed.

The lance pierced through his lower body with terrifying force.

His legs and the surrounding flesh were blasted apart as the Purgatory Flame continued burning through what remained.

On the other side, Sonya’s opponent suffered the same fate.

The first lance was blocked.

But, the second tore through the damaged defense and struck directly at the waist.

The commander was thrown backward.

Tang Ziyue moved before he could recover, her figure appeared directly in front of him.

A dagger filled with black liquid flashed.

She drove it beneath his lower jaw and pushed upward.

The blade pierced through his head.

His body went limp.

At nearly the same moment, Sonya raised both hands.

Two intensely compressed spheres of Purgatory Flame appeared before her.

They were smaller than ordinary Inferno Stars, but their surfaces were so tightly compressed that the flames barely moved.

Sonya launched them.

BOOM!

BOOM!

Both explosions engulfed the wounded commander.

When the flames dispersed, the commander had been burned into blackened remains.

Cain’s expression remained calm.

Then a notification appeared before his eyes.
