Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 14 - 200
DING!
(System Notification: You have accumulated 100 Spiritual Energy. You have become a Level 1 Spiritual Warrior!)
[Name: Enzo Muller]
[Level: 1]
[Spiritual Energy: 200]
Another notification appeared.
Of course, he would become a Spiritual Warrior once he had 100 Spiritual Energy. This was the standard.
To reach Level 2, he needed 300, while Level 3 required 1,000.
As for Level 4, it required 3,000, but that would not be enough unless one had mastered a technique.
At different levels, the quality of Spiritual Energy increased drastically. Because of that, even though there was seemingly only a difference of one point between a Level 1 with 299 Spiritual Energy and a Level 2 with 300, the difference in strength was generally quite significant.
Of course, it was still possible to surpass someone of a higher level through techniques or because one’s body was naturally stronger.
’I didn’t expect the difference to be this great,’ Enzo thought as he began to comprehend his current strength.
What he hadn’t expected was that his Spiritual Energy was still increasing on its own, rather than stopping at 100.
[Spiritual Energy: 150]
[Spiritual Energy: 200]
It reached 200, which meant he was now at the Mid Stage of Level 1.
How could his accumulation have actually reached this level?
He couldn’t have been happier.
Personal strength—this was even more exciting to him than the marriage.
If there hadn’t been anyone around, he would have burst into laughter.
However, he had to do his best to maintain his expression.
"How did you suddenly end up becoming my assistant?" he asked Eva.
He deliberately spoke to distract himself from how excited he was.
If he suddenly smiled to himself without realizing it, wouldn’t they think he was crazy?
"The Stanley Family, or more precisely, Lady Miya herself, is very close to my family. She entrusts many of her personal affairs to us. You could say that we are among her trusted families. After all, economically, our network is broader than the Stanley Family’s. On Thursday, she came to us and asked us to provide the catering for her wedding. She even told us who her future husband was. Then she asked whether anyone wanted to become her husband’s assistant. I volunteered."
Eva answered calmly, even using a formal tone as she explained everything in detail.
Enzo had to admit that she had been well educated.
Despite having an arrogant and even selfish personality, she played the role of a subordinate very well.
However, her final sentence made him wary.
She had volunteered herself. She hadn’t been directly chosen.
After all, Miya had clearly made the offer openly to anyone in the Solace Family. It might not even have been limited to young women.
For an ambitious young woman to choose to become his assistant, there was clearly a motive behind it. She didn’t even bother hiding it when she could have easily made up a different story.
It was almost as though she was reminding Enzo not to become arrogant because of his new identity.
’Enemies are everywhere.’
Other people weren’t happy about his sudden good fortune, and they were all devising their own schemes.
Destroying him might not be their only goal. They could also use him to obtain certain benefits.
For a moment, he noticed Eva casting him a sideways glance.
It was different from her usual polite and respectful attitude.
In the end, Enzo still smiled to himself.
He, who had once been considered insignificant, was now making various factions conceal their intentions toward him.
To him, that was actually rather interesting.
He remained calm because any problem could be overcome as long as his strength continued to increase.
Perhaps he could even gain some benefits from these people.
Without wanting to talk anymore, he shifted his attention to his phone and opened a comedy animation about a cat and mouse that were always fighting.
He didn’t even look at the road.
That action made Eva look as though she wanted to furrow her brows beneath her perpetually formal expression.
Sunday traffic was naturally lighter, but in City Z, there were usually still several occasions when vehicles had to stop or slow down, whether because of traffic lights or interference from other vehicles.
But this time, Enzo felt that the limousine never slowed down.
He looked toward the road and finally realized why.
Dozens of guards on large motorcycles were clearing the way.
Each motorcycle carried two people, with the person sitting in the back holding a long-barreled firearm pointed in various directions. Some of them even fired into the air, though the sound couldn’t enter the limousine.
Even government officials wouldn’t dare to carry out this kind of escort.
It was far too tyrannical and arrogant, yet apparently no one dared to complain, let alone resist.
With the journey proceeding smoothly, it didn’t take too long to reach Horizon Grand Hotel.
Everything was different from the last time Enzo had seen it on TV.
Ordinary citizens had been forcibly pushed farther away by the security personnel, leaving the area in front of the hotel completely open.
It had now become a parking area for countless luxury vehicles.
There were even several helicopters parked along the road.
Some guests were still outside, relaxing and smoking as they waited for the ceremony to begin.
