Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 56: First Fight
It turned out they were quite close.
Enzo had already seen his new enemy. However, the governor’s son was just an ordinary human, so there was nothing for him to worry about. Even his father was an ordinary human. It was only because of his position as governor that he had control over so many things.
He continued sitting there while smoking his cigarette, which turned out to be quite pleasant for his mind after a few drags.
It was nothing like the ordinary cigarettes he had smoked before. Of course, it was not a drug either.
He began receiving glances from the governor’s son, who seemed to be getting whispers from Alex.
The more he heard, the more crooked his lips became.
His gaze only grew more intense.
Naturally, they headed toward the VIP stands.
Alex continued following them, apparently preferring this man over his own friends.
"Boy, it must be nice being Lady Stanley’s husband, but she doesn’t make you sleep on the floor, does she?" the governor’s son, Aaron Lopez, said.
He sat in the third row, and the smell of alcohol on his breath spread around him.
Enzo was not surprised to hear that.
Even cautious people could say anything when they were drunk, let alone a man like this.
Dilan looked unconcerned, clearly considering it none of his business.
"Brat, how dare you? What do you mean by saying that?" Zara immediately responded with an angry expression.
"Miss, don’t get angry. Let’s just talk logically. Lady Stanley is such a noble woman, so why would she be interested in this pretty boy?" Aaron replied. "Don’t let him become so full of himself that he thinks he’s great while looking down on everyone here. Wasn’t he originally just a poor man who couldn’t cultivate?"
"Aaron, what you’re saying doesn’t make sense. I didn’t attend the wedding because I had business to deal with, but I heard that Enzo and Lady Stanley hugged and kissed in front of everyone. A fake marriage wouldn’t be like that." Gracie Torres commented casually, winking at Enzo as if signaling that she was on his side.
Perhaps Alex had not told Aaron about that, so he was surprised, and the corners of his lips curled even further.
It wasn’t as though he had never seen Miya before. He had been amazed by how beautiful she was.
This young man had hugged and kissed her, making his heart burn with jealousy.
He seemed to have difficulty saying anything else.
Enzo drank his juice at that moment.
He felt there was no need to say anything for now.
"Uhm!"
Suddenly, someone cleared his throat, and a well-dressed middle-aged man stepped onto the stone platform while holding a microphone.
"Distinguished guests, thank you for coming to the Colosseum of Death," he said, smiling at the guests.
Ever since he appeared, Enzo noticed numerous red dots appearing, which seemed to be hidden cameras activating.
This meant the show was about to begin. However, perhaps because the audience consisted of elites, there were no loud cheers or commotion. People remained calm while enjoying their drinks.
Those who liked to cheer were only a minority. Since everyone else remained quiet, they had little choice but to remain quiet as well.
Of course, there were still spectators who arrived late.
The entrance did not seem to be locked for late arrivals.
To Enzo’s surprise, he saw Alice Howard arrive as well, accompanied by two formidable-looking bodyguards.
When she arrived, the audience’s attention shifted from the host to her.
She simply sat near the entrance without going any farther.
Enzo saw her eyes looking toward him with a smile.
This time, he pretended not to see anything.
However, Zara’s elbow began nudging his waist, which he also ignored.
"Ladies and gentlemen..." The host spoke again so people would stop staring at Alice.
"As we promised at the New York colosseum last time, we will also invite female fighters. Fortunately, this time we have managed to obtain two of them."
Hearing that, there was still a small commotion among the audience.
"Mr. Alu, why don’t you call them out now?" Aaron asked with a chuckle, looking impatient.
"Hahaha, there’s no need to rush. The best should naturally be saved for last," the host replied.
"Hmph!" Aaron snorted unhappily at that, glancing at Dilan, who had chosen to check his phone.
"These idiots are so eager to watch women fight. Brat, how about you fight me?" Zara said without lowering her voice.
Aaron’s face twitched when he heard that, causing him to instinctively look back.
"Do you dare?" Zara asked.
Aaron ultimately chose not to respond.
Unfortunately, he didn’t.
He was truly an ordinary human, and he had even failed to complete the physical enhancement program that served as the first step toward cultivation.
Even against a young woman, he knew he would lose.
"Everyone, let us welcome the first two participants, Enzo Muller the Butcher versus Alexander Arnold the Bloodthirsty. Place your bets now before the fight begins." The host announced it, causing Enzo, who was drinking his juice, to nearly spill it.
’Why did he say my name?’
’No, not my name.’
At this moment, two men appeared from two different doors.
The first was shirtless, with a huge, muscular body covered in hair. He carried an axe in each hand.
He radiated a savage aura that seemed to make the air tremble.
The audience gasped when they felt his aura.
A Level 4 aura. Naturally, it was extremely formidable.
This colosseum only showcased battles at Level 4.
The second man, however, looked small, thin, and inconspicuous, carrying only a short knife in his hand.
He had a calm gaze and concealed his aura.
Both of them walked toward the center of the stone platform, which was immediately enclosed by a transparent dome of light.
Enzo did not recognize either of them at all.
Perhaps they were Spiritual Warriors from the smaller cities nearby, since few people dared to cause trouble in City Z.
"Alexander, hmph, hmph. You know my axes have slaughtered countless weaklings like you. Why don’t you just retreat back to prison?" the large man said first.
However, despite his small stature, Alexander merely stared at him coldly.
"Enzo Muller, Alexander Arnold, are the two of you ready to fight?" the host asked, remaining calm even though he was standing between them. He was also protected by the light connected to the dome.
"Just start!" Enzo Muller replied in a booming voice.
"Of course. Begin," the host casually replied before being transferred to the edge of the stone platform.
BANG!
The large man’s aura suddenly surged even stronger.
Before anyone noticed, he was already in front of Alexander Arnold with both axes raised high.
"Die..." he roared, his voice filled with killing intent.
