Invincible Starting From the Nine Dragons Technique
Chapter 448 - 449: Innate Spirit
"Who’s there?"
Hearing the sudden, mocking voice, everyone tensed up and quickly looked in the direction it came from.
Not far away, a young girl who looked to be about seven or eight years old was sitting on a stone platform, one leg crossed over the other, watching them with a cold expression.
"Who are you? When did you get in here?"
Jiang Ruoxue asked, on high alert.
Li Ming and Han Yimo were just as tense, circulating the power within their bodies, ready to fight her at a moment’s notice.
Only Su Mo remained perfectly calm, as if he had already seen through the girl’s origins.
"I’ve always been here!" the girl said.
Jiang Ruoxue shook her head. "Impossible. This place has been sealed for over thirty thousand years. No one could have survived, let alone someone who’s still..."
"’Let alone someone who’s still so young?’ Is that what you were going to say?" the girl finished for her.
Jiang Ruoxue didn’t answer, which was a tacit admission.
Just then, Su Mo spoke up. "She has, in fact, always been here."
"What?" Jiang Ruoxue’s face was a mask of shock.
’If she’s always been here, doesn’t that make her some kind of ancient monster?’
’What kind of ancient monster could exist for over thirty thousand years?’
’Could she be... Divine Level?’
Su Mo, seeing what was on her mind, shook his head. "She isn’t Divine Level. She’s an Innate Spirit."
"Oh? You can actually see my true form?" the Innate Spirit said, surprised.
Su Mo smiled. "It’s not that difficult. I only needed to feel it out for a moment to know. You have no Divine Power in your body."
No Divine Power meant she naturally wasn’t at the Divine Level.
Li Ming seemed to recall something, and realization dawned on him. "So that’s it. I’ve heard the Sect Leader mention that the Meteor Ancestor did indeed subdue an Innate Spirit back in the day."
"Did you say ’subdue’?" the Innate Spirit asked, her gaze turning icy.
SLAP!
Before Li Ming could even answer, he was struck hard across the face and sent flying.
Li Ming was instantly furious.
’Dammit!’
’This little brat actually hit me.’
The Innate Spirit sneered, "Forget your ancestor subduing me. I wouldn’t even consider him worthy of carrying my shoes."
Her words caused an uproar among everyone present.
The Meteor Ancestor was a Divine Level existence, yet he was being scorned by an Innate Spirit.
She even said he wasn’t worthy of carrying her shoes.
Li Ming clutched his face and demanded, "Even if you’re an Innate Spirit, you can’t just insult our ancestor like that, can you?"
"So what if I insulted your ancestor?" the Innate Spirit said indifferently. "Back then, your ancestor knelt and begged me, licked my toes, and only then did I reluctantly agree to take him as my servant and help him ascend to the Divine Level. Otherwise, that moron would never have reached it."
"Huh?"
Hearing this, everyone was completely stunned.
The Meteor Ancestor—a renowned Divine Level powerhouse in the Cangxuan Realm over thirty thousand years ago—had actually been the servant of this Innate Spirit.
This revelation was far too explosive.
If word of this reached the ears of the Fallen Star Saint Master and the others, he would probably have a complete breakdown.
He could never have imagined that the Divine Level ancestor he took so much pride in was actually someone else’s servant—and had even licked her toes.
"Now, do you still think I’m not qualified to humiliate your ancestor?" the Innate Spirit demanded coldly.
Li Ming’s eyes were red, but he didn’t answer.
Only then did the Innate Spirit drop the subject. She turned to Su Mo. "A moment ago, you said the Meteor Divine Sword is scrap?"
"Is it not?" Su Mo countered.
’If the Meteor Divine Sword still contained Divine Power, it might have been of some use to me.’
’Unfortunately, the Divine Power within the Meteor Divine Sword has been completely depleted.’
The Innate Spirit pursed her lips. "Of course it isn’t. Don’t be fooled by its lack of Divine Power. It can still cut through metal like mud and can easily sever a Holy Soldier."
She had personally helped the Meteor Ancestor forge this Meteor Divine Sword back in the day.
How could she possibly tolerate Su Mo calling it scrap now?
"A Holy Soldier? I could probably break one of those too," Su Mo said after a moment’s thought.
At these words, everyone present was stunned once again.
’Break a Holy Soldier?’
’That’s a powerful weapon forged by a Saint-level Powerhouse using Saint-level Power! And Su Mo is claiming he can break one?’
’What a joke!’
The Innate Spirit warned coldly, "Brat, don’t get ahead of yourself."
"If you don’t believe me, I can give you a demonstration right here and now," Su Mo said calmly.
The Innate Spirit sneered. "Heh, you’re only saying that because you’re certain I don’t have a Holy Soldier here, aren’t you?"
To the side, Jiang Ruoxue and the others secretly nodded in agreement.
They knew Su Mo was strong, but they wouldn’t believe he could casually break a Holy Soldier even if it killed them.
Su Mo said calmly, "If there’s no Holy Soldier, we can use something else as a substitute. For example, the Meteor Divine Sword that you personally forged and are so proud of."
"What did you say? Use the Meteor Divine Sword as a substitute?" the Innate Spirit said, astonished.
Though the Meteor Divine Sword no longer had the support of Divine Power, it was still a Divine Artifact—countless times harder than any Holy Soldier.
’Substitute a Holy Soldier with the Meteor Divine Sword, and then break it?’
’He’s bragging to the high heavens.’
The Innate Spirit said indifferently, "Fine. I’ll give you a chance. If you can so much as leave a fingerprint on the Meteor Divine Sword, I’ll admit you’ve won."
"That works," Su Mo agreed on the spot.
Jiang Ruoxue quickly tried to stop him. "Elder Su, just let it go. There’s no need to argue with an Innate Spirit. Besides..."
"Besides what?" Su Mo asked.
Jiang Ruoxue stammered, "Besides... what if you fail?"
This Innate Spirit was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
She was petty and vindictive.
If Su Mo failed, she would probably drown him in spit on the spot.
"Fail?" Su Mo shook his head.
If a Saint-level Powerhouse were holding it and reinforcing it with their own power, he might not be so confident.
But right now, the Meteor Divine Sword was an ownerless object.
If he could fail at this, he might as well just die.
Ignoring Jiang Ruoxue’s attempt to stop him, Su Mo walked right up to the Meteor Divine Sword and gripped its blade in his hand.
"If you can actually leave a mark, I’ll swallow it on the spot," the Innate Spirit continued to taunt.
Su Mo said indifferently, "Then open your dog eyes wide and watch clearly how I destroy this Divine Artifact you’re so proud of."
BOOM!
A powerful force erupted from Su Mo’s fingertips, pressing down on the Meteor Divine Sword.
The Innate Spirit wore a disdainful expression.
But the next second...
With just a slight exertion of force from Su Mo, five distinct fingerprints appeared on the Meteor Divine Sword.
"You..." The Innate Spirit was dumbfounded.
Su Mo had actually left fingerprints on the Meteor Divine Sword.
’Doesn’t this mean Su Mo’s physical body is even harder than Meteor Divine Iron?’
’That’s too ridiculous.’
What she didn’t know was that this was only the most basic power of Su Mo’s physical body; he hadn’t even used his more formidable Protective Dragon Power.
"Satisfied now?" Su Mo asked, looking at the Innate Spirit.
The Innate Spirit cried out in a panic, "Put it down, quick! Don’t destroy the Divine Sword!"
CLANG!
Su Mo tossed the Meteor Divine Sword onto the ground in disgust.
The Innate Spirit scrambled over to the Meteor Divine Sword, looked at the fingerprints on it, and exclaimed in a mix of shock and anger, "Brat, do you have any idea you nearly destroyed a Divine-level Spiritual Soldier?"
