Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 754 - 724: Arrangements (Part 1)
At that moment, the scene was utterly silent. Forget Capital University and Modu University—even the students from East Sea Academy felt like they were in a dream.
It was all simply too unreal, too inconceivable.
Just then, Elder Guo, the supervisor of the Mission Hall, walked over. He said with a chuckle, "Everyone, this is the data the General Staff sent back after their recount."
"Of course, I’m sure many of you are wondering why Lin Xinghai was able to earn so many Points."
"That’s why the General Staff also said that if you want to know, just sign this S Level confidentiality agreement, and you’ll learn the whole story."
Looking at the university leaders who had been so aggressive just moments ago, now looking as disgusted as if they’d swallowed a fly, Elder Guo felt a wave of immense satisfaction.
Seeing that no one in the crowd was reacting, he waved the agreement in his hand. "Come now, don’t be so shy. It’s not just for the university leaders and teachers. If any students want to know, just come over and sign this S Level confidentiality agreement. You can get all the details, too."
To those from Capital University and Modu University, his words of "encouragement" sounded inexplicably mocking.
By now, curiosity was killing everyone, their hearts itching to know the truth. But the thought of an S Level confidentiality agreement made them shrink back in hesitation.
If it were a C Level agreement, many would have signed it without a second thought. But S Level was different. It was the highest possible classification.
Signing it meant restricting one’s personal freedom. Every trip would have to be reported, and leaving a supervised area without authorization would trigger a full-blown investigation for espionage.
It was something most people would never dare to touch.
The shrewder ones, however, managed to piece a lot together just from the General Staff’s attitude.
Clearly, there was nothing wrong with the 112 million Points Lin Xinghai had received earlier.
Not only was his contribution immense, but it must have also involved matters of great significance. That was why there wasn’t a rigid standard for the Points awarded; the General Staff had probably given him as few as they could to minimize the fallout.
But now that they had raised such a fuss, the General Staff had likely decided to give Lin Xinghai the maximum reward possible within the Rules, adding another 65 million Points to his name.
In the end, no one signed the S Level confidentiality agreement.
After all, they had only suspected an error in the Point calculation. Now that it was confirmed to be correct, no one was foolish enough to sacrifice decades of personal freedom just to satisfy their curiosity.
And so, the incident came to a dramatic close.
But the uproar didn’t die down. On the contrary, it only seemed to be intensifying.
As the news spread, teams out on missions began to return one after another.
Meanwhile, the members already at the main base camp were buzzing about the incident, everyone offering their own opinion.
Needless to say, the students from Capital University and Modu University were in an uproar. They had thought that with Divine Demon Realm experts emerging from their own academies, victory in the university competition was practically in the bag.
This was especially true for Capital University. With two Divine Demon Realm experts on their side, they had even felt the competition might as well end early.
But now, they were all panicking. They couldn’t help it. Lin Xinghai had disappeared for a single night and somehow managed to rack up an unbelievable number of Points.
What was even more terrifying was that they had no idea if this was a one-time thing, or if he could do it again.
If Lin Xinghai could maintain that rate of Point acquisition, they might as well give up. The Speed at which he alone earned Points would be enough to match all of their academies’ students combined.
As for East Sea Academy, its students were, of course, ecstatic. The previous gloom and worry had been completely swept away. Many even felt that this time, not only would they avoid last place, but they might even take first. Emotions were running high.
However, this state of affairs didn’t last long. The instructors from all three universities quickly used their own channels to contact the military and indirectly glean some information.
Apparently, Lin Xinghai had used some unknown method to coordinate with two Divine Demon Realm experts during the Abyssal Plane’s assault. In doing so, he killed a large number of Fourth Level Mutated Zombies and influenced the entire battle, which was why he had been awarded so many Points.
However, the Abyssal Plane was unlikely to launch another offensive on such a massive scale.
Furthermore, Lin Xinghai had killed the Fourth Level Mutated Zombies in cooperation with two Divine Demon Realm experts; he had not demonstrated the ability to kill them on his own.
Once this news got out, the mood on all sides finally returned to normal.
The students from Capital University and Modu University weren’t so panicked anymore. As for the students from East Sea Academy, they were no longer as wildly optimistic as they had been at first. Everyone was starting to think more rationally.
But one thing was undeniable: single-handedly, Lin Xinghai had brought East Sea Academy’s total Points up to—and even slightly beyond—those of Modu University and Capital University.
The only question now was how long this advantage would last.
Under these circumstances, the students of East Sea Academy gradually began to gather spontaneously at the entrance to the military’s main base.
Clearly, if the military’s Points had been tallied, then the man of the hour, Lin Xinghai, should be back as well.
As the crowd craned their necks in eager anticipation, someone with sharp eyes suddenly spotted a convoy of vehicles approaching in the distance.
"It’s the Xinghai Squad!" someone shouted.
If it had been any other squad, they wouldn’t have been able to recognize them at a glance. They would have had to wait for the convoy to get closer and see the people inside to identify them.
But the Xinghai Squad was different. Little Fatty had spared no expense in heavily modifying their two Armored Vehicles, making them twice the size of any other. They were so distinctive it was hard *not* to recognize them.
"I just wonder if Captain Lin is in the squad. I hope he is," someone else said expectantly.
"Hard to say. They were out on a separate mission, after all. But even if he isn’t, they should be able to contact Captain Lin, right?" another person chimed in.
...
The members of the Xinghai Squad, the subject of all this fervent discussion, were somewhat bewildered as they saw the large crowd gathered at the entrance of the main base.
"Huh? Why are so many people up ahead? Don’t tell me something big happened again!" Little Fatty couldn’t help but mutter.
But then he glanced at Lin Xinghai standing beside him and instantly felt much calmer.
The vehicles were moving quickly, and just as Little Fatty finished his thought, they had already reached the camp entrance.
Before they could even react, they were instantly swarmed by the students on all sides.
