After arriving at the mission location, Shi Anzhi didn’t even have time to rendezvous with the local military forces. He immediately took out his Communication Device and pressed the call button.

He felt a slight unease. Although it was a high-power Communication Device, there was no guarantee it could connect to the temporary command post from within the Poisonous Fog District.

However, his worries proved unfounded. A mere second after he pressed the button, the green light on the Communication Device lit up. This meant the signal had connected. Furthermore, the light was green, not yellow, indicating that the signal was not just present but extremely strong.

Before Shi Anzhi could even speak, a sweet female voice came through. "Hello, this is the temporary command post for the students of East Sea Academy. How can I help you?"

"This is Rock Squad," Shi Anzhi replied immediately. "We’ve reached the mission location. No Mutated Zombies spotted in the vicinity at the moment."

This was part of their agreed-upon procedure. If there were no Mutated Zombies in the target area, they had to report it immediately. That way, Lin Xinghai could prioritize reinforcing other squads.

"Understood. Information logged. Notify us immediately if you require support," the female student on the other end replied.

Shi Anzhi breathed a quiet sigh of relief. With communications established, the first step of their plan was a success.

He would have to see about the next steps. After all, the Rock Squad he led was a top-tier team. Barring any special circumstances, he didn’t even plan on asking Lin Xinghai for backup.

’It wasn’t that he begrudged the thirty percent commission in Points. He just felt that if his team could handle it, there was no need for Lin Xinghai to waste his energy.’

He had just put down the Communication Device when someone from the military approached to liaise with them.

The garrison here could only be considered average. It was a single battalion of 500 soldiers, which was barely enough to handle the Abyssal Creatures that periodically came to harass them.

After all, this was already the intermediate zone, where the swarms of Abyssal Creatures were quite strong.

That was exactly the situation now. A swarm of 200 Abyssal Creatures was attacking from the east.

While the garrison, supplemented by a large number of Combat Robots and Attack Drones, had no problem holding the line, the constant fighting was severely slowing down the construction of their defensive fortifications.

So when Rock Squad arrived, the garrison troops breathed a collective sigh of relief and quickly invited them to join the fight.

Without any delay, Shi Anzhi led Rock Squad to charge in from another direction.

Compared to the military, their greatest advantage was their superior individual combat strength. Even without relying on defensive positions, each of them could easily take on one enemy, or even two.

Rock Squad didn’t charge straight into the battle. Instead, they circled around and attacked the Abyssal Creatures from the rear.

TATATATA!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

As the artillery roared to life, the Petrifying Spiders hiding in the rear were suddenly hit with a ferocious assault.

They tried to counterattack as they fled in a panic, attempting to use the complex urban terrain to evade the weapons fire and the pursuing Armored Vehicle.

Against a regular army, such a tactic would have been quite effective. But when the members of Rock Squad saw this, they leaped from their Armored Vehicle and charged in without a second thought.

RUMBLE!

A dense series of rumbles instantly echoed from the buildings lining the street. Most of it wasn’t the sound of artillery, but of exploding Superpowers.

Shi Anzhi barely had to lift a finger. In less than 30 seconds, all 200 Abyssal Creatures had been wiped out.

"Haha, it’s my lucky day!" a military officer said with a laugh, walking out from the defensive line. "To think a team this powerful would show up for the mission."

This wasn’t his first time working with teams from the academies. He could gauge a squad’s overall strength the moment they entered combat.

Shi Anzhi, who had just jumped down from the vehicle, heard him and quickly waved his hand in a humble gesture. "You’re too kind, you’re too kind."

"What’s there to be kind about? Too much modesty is just being fake." Old Wu’s expression turned serious as he spoke bluntly. "I won’t mince words. How about you handle the next wave of Abyssal Creatures? That way, we can join the construction effort, finish these fortifications faster, and you can complete your mission sooner."

"No problem," Shi Anzhi agreed without hesitation.

"Haha, that’s more like it!" The officer, Old Wu, was about to say more, but his expression suddenly shifted.

Beside him, Shi Anzhi’s gaze also hardened. He had heard a shrill alarm blaring from inside their Armored Vehicle.

It was the alarm from the Mutated Zombie Detector.

He immediately whipped his head around to look. At that exact moment, a squad member responsible for surveillance leaned out of the vehicle’s window and yelled urgently, "Captain, five Mutated Zombies are heading our way!"

"Two ’Death Claws,’ one ’Armored Corpse,’ one ’Blood Worm,’ and one ’Hunter’! They’re all Third Level Mutated Zombies!"

Hearing this, Shi Anzhi’s pupils constricted. Even for someone at the Peak of the Body Shaping Realm like him, a single Third Level Mutated Zombie had to be handled with extreme caution—let alone five of them appearing at once.

Worse, the group included an Armored Corpse with its insane defense and Death Claws that were proficient in both offense and defense. This was, without a doubt, an unprecedented crisis for them.

It was no exaggeration to say that with Rock Squad’s current strength, fighting these five Mutated Zombies—especially if they were supported by other Abyssal Creatures—would result in catastrophic losses, even if they won. It wouldn’t be the least bit surprising if they lost half their members.

"Call for backup immediately! Report our situation!" Shi Anzhi ordered decisively.

Winning would come at a terrible price, but stalling for ten minutes wasn’t too much of a problem. Of course, that was all contingent on Lin Xinghai arriving within those ten minutes.

The squad member who had made the report knew the situation was critical and immediately sent out the request for aid.

Shi Anzhi turned to the military officer, whose expression had also grown grim. "We’ll handle the Mutated Zombies. The other Abyssal Creatures will be up to you."

"No problem!" Old Wu nodded readily, then asked, "Should I request missile support? We have laser guidance equipment here, so hitting a Third Level Mutated Zombie accurately shouldn’t be an issue. The only problem is that an area-of-effect attack like that would likely hit you, too."

Hearing that missile support was an option, Shi Anzhi relaxed slightly. It was another layer of insurance, without a doubt.

However, after a moment of thought, he shook his head. "Not for now. If our backup hasn’t arrived in ten minutes, then call for the missile strike!"
