Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 762 - 732: Speedy Rescue (Part 2)

The officer, a man named Old Wu, looked puzzled at Shi Anzhi’s words. "Reinforcements? Aren’t you the rescue team?"

"It’s an additional rescue team formed at our academy," Shi Anzhi explained briefly before hurrying back to the Armored Vehicle and boarding his Rare Level Mecha.

That’s right—Shi Anzhi also possessed a Rare Level Mecha. It was one of the reasons he’d been confident enough to break into the top ten on the individual Points leaderboard.

But now, even piloting a Rare Level Mecha, he honestly didn’t have much confidence.

While his combat power was immense—he was even confident he could take on two Third Level Death Claws at once—the problem was that far too many Third Level Mutated Zombies were on their way.

"Our main objective is to stall for time. Wait for reinforcements," Shi Anzhi finally said over the comms channel.

"Yes, sir!" The others replied. The thought that they had Lin Xinghai as their backup eased their minds slightly.

Meanwhile, Old Wu and his men were scrambling to activate their heavy weaponry.

Compared to the members of Rock Squad, they were far more nervous. After all, a single one of these Third Level Mutated Zombies was a major threat to them, let alone an entire horde.

The whole reason they’d had to post a mission requesting aid was that they were being harassed by a Third Level Mutated Zombie. But back then, it had only been a single Third Level Hunter.

Now, however, a full five Third Level Mutated Zombies had arrived, including powerful types like the Death Claw and the Armored Corpse.

"Captain Wu, are you sure we don’t need to request missile support?" an adjutant asked quietly, stepping up to Old Wu’s side.

"Let’s wait and see. These academy students aren’t greenhorns. Besides, after fighting for nearly two days, how could they not understand these Mutated Zombies? Any who were blindly arrogant are probably already dead. If he says they can hold, he must have some degree of confidence," Old Wu said after a moment of thought.

As he spoke, the fastest of the five Mutated Zombies, a Hunter, had already charged up to their defensive line.

It was unavoidable. Here in the green Poisonous Fog District, the effectiveness of the Zombie Detector was severely suppressed. By the time they spotted the Mutated Zombies, they were already less than a kilometer from the encampment.

Honestly, for a Third Level Mutated Zombie, that distance was nothing at all.

As Old Wu and his men watched, Shi Anzhi’s Rare Level Mecha executed a difficult maneuver called a "Pressurized Lunge" and met the charging Hunter head-on, foiling its attempt at a surprise attack.

BANG!

CRACK!

The greatsword in the Mecha’s hand collided with the Hunter’s Sharp Claws. The Alloy-forged blade instantly chipped, but at the same time, a terrifying vibrating force traveled down the greatsword and into the Hunter’s claws.

Under this terrifying force, the creature’s previously sharp claws began to make cracking sounds, and one of them was snapped clean off.

Terrified, the Hunter hastily retreated, no longer daring to clash head-on with Shi Anzhi. As it moved, Blood-colored Beetles continuously dropped from its body and swarmed toward the Rare Level Mecha.

These Blood-colored Beetles, spawn of a Third Level Blood Worm, could easily shred Third Level Biological Alloy.

But before they could get close to the Rare Level Mecha, a powerful Power of Space Vibration erupted in the area. The Blood-colored Beetles rushing the Mecha instantly exploded, their internal organs and everything else turning into a bloody mist. It was clear their insides had been vibrated into dust.

In that moment, Shi Anzhi fully demonstrated the prowess of a top expert from East Sea Academy. In their very first exchange, he had completely suppressed a Third Level Hunter.

If the Hunter hadn’t fled, he might have been able to heavily injure, or even kill it, within just a few more moves.

The soldiers stationed there broke into cheers and shouts of amazement at the sight.

Even Old Wu and his adjutant breathed a silent sigh of relief. Clearly, Shi Anzhi was even more powerful than they had imagined.

But Shi Anzhi, the one in the thick of it, wore a grave expression. His Space Shocking Ability was undeniably powerful.

If he were to face any single Mutated Zombie alone, his space vibration power could even penetrate its surface Defense Power and directly damage its internal organs, causing critical injury or death.

This was why he was able to stand out among the many students and become one of the academy’s strongest fighters.

The problem was, achieving that required time. He needed to use his Superpower repeatedly, stacking the vibrational force to make it work.

That’s why in one-on-one situations, he could often unleash his combat power to an extraordinary degree and catch his enemy by surprise. But in a one-versus-many fight, he simply couldn’t stack his space vibration power.

Shi Anzhi glanced at the countdown timer. Only twenty seconds had passed since they sent the distress call, but the two Death Claws and the Armored Corpse were now only two or three hundred meters from the defensive line.

And behind them, a tide of hundreds of thousands of Blood-colored Beetles blotted out the ground as it swept toward them.

’Looks like I’ll have to go all out,’ Shi Anzhi thought. ’I just hope my Rare Level Mecha holds up.’

At the same time, he gave the order to attack.

RUMBLE!

RAT-A-TAT-TAT!

A sudden cacophony of dense gunfire and cannonades erupted. In an instant, the charging Death Claws and the Armored Corpse were blanketed by heavy fire.

But the Armored Corpse at the forefront merely roared. The keratinous layer on its body instantly turned jet-black, its Defense Power leaping by a whole level. Never mind ordinary bullets—even a direct hit from a Grenade Cannon could do little more than cause its hide to crack.

And with a Mutated Zombie’s terrifying regenerative abilities, that minor damage was repaired in the blink of an eye.

No one on the field was surprised by this. They were only using artillery for attrition, anyway.

"Kill!"

Shi Anzhi roared and charged forward to meet them. He pushed his Superpower to its absolute limit, not daring to hold anything back in a situation like this.

He prepared to push past his limits and overload his Superpower. It was the only way he might be able to fight one against three.

But at that very moment...

WHOOSH!

He felt as if his Perception Power was malfunctioning. It seemed a dense mass of Blood Qi Power had just grazed his Mecha as it leaped past.

But in the next instant, the Armored Corpse, now only a dozen or so meters away, seemed to desperately try to dodge, throwing its arm up in front of it.

It seemed to have blocked in the wrong direction. The back of its neck suddenly erupted as if struck by some terrifying attack, its thick keratinous hide and flesh bursting open.

However, the attack was only just beginning. As the Armored Corpse let out a pained roar, everyone could see a burst of blinding flames erupt from the point of impact on the back of its head.

The raging fire, like a miniature sun, continuously seared its head. No matter how the Armored Corpse wailed and thrashed on the ground, it was no use.

The scene was both bizarre and terrifying.
