Chapter 769 Perception Power’s Warning (Part 1)

"Rest assured," the Charm King said with a light laugh. "I have a hidden force waiting on the other side. We can catch them off guard. Killing these geniuses before they’ve had a chance to mature will be no problem at all."

"Let’s hope so," the Shadow Demon King said noncommittally. His expression turned grave as he asked, "Also, according to your intelligence, is that Lin Xinghai really the Child of Fortune?"

"You should know full well what it will cost me to attack from across a plane. I don’t want to make my move, only to find out your intelligence was wrong."

The Charm King glanced at him and said coolly, "You’ve seen the detailed report. In my opinion, it can’t be anyone else."

"Of course, we can’t completely rule out the possibility. The Earth Plane might be like that Light Plane we conquered before and create a decoy Child of Fortune alongside the real one."

"But someone with his talent and potential is worth you making a move on regardless. So instead of worrying about this, you should focus on sending more of your Rule Power across. That way, you’ll avoid any chance of failure."

"Heh, that’s the funniest joke I’ve ever heard," the Shadow Demon King scoffed. "I can assassinate experts of my own rank, let alone someone who’s merely in the Marrow Tempering Realm. No matter how strong he is, there’s a limit. The moment he steps into my attack range, his death is certain."

After speaking, he fell silent. A faint Rule Power continued to emanate from his body, surging into the body of the Mutated Zombie below.

This portion of his Rule Power would pass through the other’s body to reach the Earth Plane. It would then spread around the Abyssal Passage, forming a unique Domain.

Within this Domain, he could use the Rule Power he had emitted to launch a remote attack.

Of course, the price for doing so was immense. After all, his Rule Power was different from that of the Earth Plane, which would cause a phenomenon of rejection.

In other words, his Rule Power would be constantly annihilated, and this lost Power could not be reclaimed.

If it weren’t for killing the Child of Fortune, no one would be willing to pay such a high price. After all, at their Realm, Rule Power is the core and foundation of their strength.

...

Meanwhile, as Lin Xinghai was fighting a Tier Two "Giant Arm," he suddenly felt an inexplicable chill creep into his heart.

The sudden sensation made his heart tighten. He thought the "Giant Arm" was hiding some kind of ultimate move, so he instantly created distance. Instead of continuing the fight, he simply blew it away with a single shot.

’Strange, what’s going on?’ Lin Xinghai frowned slightly, looking at the corpse slowly collapsing in front of him.

With his current Physique, even during a winter blizzard, it would be impossible for him to feel any cold.

That chill was less a change in temperature and more of a warning on a spiritual level.

It was just like how these Mutated Zombies could often sense danger in advance.

Lin Xinghai’s current Perception Power had reached the Divine Demon Realm level. When it came to his Perception Ability for danger, he might not be a match for a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie, but he was definitely no worse than any Third Level Mutated Zombie.

He didn’t think he was mistaken. He looked at the fallen corpse, scanned his surroundings, and even spread his Perception Power outward, searching for any possible threat, but he came up empty.

"Don’t tell me a Shadow Demon has its eyes on me again!" Lin Xinghai muttered, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

After all, a Shadow Demon’s space-shifting ability could let it travel from over ten thousand meters away and appear directly in someone’s shadow. If he was really being targeted by that thing, he would have no way of finding it.

BEEP BEEP!

Suddenly, his wrist-mounted computer vibrated, and a distress call popped up.

It was clear another team was in danger. Under the circumstances, Lin Xinghai could only temporarily give up his search and rush to the coordinates provided in the message.

However, compared to before, he was much more vigilant now. He not only kept his Perception Power covering a 1,000-meter radius around himself at all times but also remained in a state of Time Acceleration.

This way, he could ensure that if he encountered any danger, he would be able to react in the first instant.

Nothing unusual happened for the next half hour. Then, while Lin Xinghai was on his way, the chill rose in his heart once more.

If it happened once, he could say he had misjudged it or that it was just a fluke.

But with it happening twice, Lin Xinghai was one hundred percent certain he was being targeted by some terrifying entity.

He had been on high alert this time, and coupled with his constant state of Time Acceleration, he was able to perceive more. The chill was normally a fleeting sensation, almost impossible to notice. But under 10x Time Acceleration, the feeling was effectively prolonged tenfold. Although it was still incredibly brief, this time he could roughly determine the direction the danger was coming from.

Almost without hesitation, he contacted Zuo Wenyao through the staff headquarters’ communication channel.

It was worth mentioning that after last night’s rescue operations, his military merit was enormous. It was no exaggeration to say that the entire state of the battlefield had changed because of his participation.

Even though the military had directly raised his total Points to 200 million, in truth, this wasn’t enough to represent his full value.

The Merit he had accumulated was actually much greater.

With such immense contributions, his rank of Major General could even be promoted to the next level.

Of course, since Lin Xinghai was only a Major before coming out on this mission, jumping directly to a General in just two days was a bit too outrageous. So the military’s decision was to delay his promotion for a while.

But he didn’t lack any of the corresponding benefits and treatment. For example, Lin Xinghai’s current permissions were at the Major General level, which was a genuine General rank.

Under these circumstances, it was much easier for Lin Xinghai to contact Zuo Wenyao. He didn’t need anyone’s help; he had the authority to call Zuo Wenyao directly.

"What is it?" The call connected quickly, and Zuo Wenyao asked with some curiosity.

He knew that under the current circumstances, Lin Xinghai wouldn’t contact him unless it was something important.

"I think I’m being targeted by some terrifying entity," Lin Xinghai said simply and clearly.

"Where are you?" Zuo Wenyao’s voice instantly became urgent.

He really hadn’t expected Lin Xinghai to call for help. After all, with Lin Xinghai’s Speed, even if he ran into a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie he couldn’t beat, escaping would definitely not be a problem.

But for that very reason, when he did run into trouble, it was bound to be that much more terrifying.
