Island Survival: I Build a Moving Castle at Sea

Chapter 207: A New Advanced System Appears

The mention of pigs made him crave pig trotters again.

With a flip of his chubby white hand, a steaming, braised pig trotter appeared in his palm.

The savory aroma of the sauce mingled with the scent of meat, shamelessly invading his nostrils.

“Since I’m a good-for-nothing, I assume you don’t want to eat a good-for-nothing’s food. So I won’t be saving today’s last chance to get food for you.”

Ever since the commander stole the Food System’s energy, the number of times he could get food each day had dropped from unlimited to just five.

It wasn’t so bad before he entered the game, but now that he was in, things were even worse. He had no idea what the commander had done, but his chances to get food had dropped from five to three.

He had a big appetite and was a glutton; one chance only got him five chicken legs, so three chances weren’t even enough for him to get his fill.

He usually shared his food with them, but today, he didn’t feel like it.

‘They cursed me out, so there’s no way I’m giving them any food. I’m not some kind of masochist.’

He took the pig trotter and devoured it in large bites, finishing it in no time.

Meeting the others’ gazes, he patted his butt, picked up the puppy, and got up to leave.

‘No main dish for them, no side dishes either. And if I leave this cute dog behind, it’ll meet a cruel fate, so I definitely can’t leave it.’

“Where are you going?”

XiaoFatty: “Sightseeing. I came into this game to have fun. There are mountains and rivers here, water and fish—all things we don’t have in interstellar space.”

“Sightseeing? Do you fucking remember whose side you’re on? We came into this game with a mission.”

XiaoFatty didn’t stop walking, holding an umbrella in one hand and the dog in the other.

“That’s your mission, not mine. My mission is to eat well, drink well, and have fun.”

He stopped, turned back to look at the others, and his greasy little mouth started running a mile a minute.

“If you ask me, the commander is just bored and looking for trouble. Isn’t he just after this planet’s ability to grow crops and raise animals? When you get down to it, those functions are just to satisfy one’s appetite. I have the Food System. When it has enough energy, I can pull out delicious food anytime. No one has to drink those disgusting nutrient fluids, and no one’s lacking for food or drink. We were all living perfectly fine, but he just had to go and covet their planet. If you’re going to covet it, then just attack. But no, he’s afraid a war would damage Earth, so he has to pull this convoluted bullshit instead. The game plan was indeed foolproof, but that was on the condition that everyone followed the plan step by step. But what does he do? He confidently picks a ‘lively’ Wish System for the target, supposedly to ‘save’ him, just as the name implies. Fucking hell, we went and killed the guy’s parents. Does he look like he needs saving? Now the guy has gotten strong and is fighting back, and suddenly the commander is panicking. Isn’t this just shooting himself in the foot? If you ask me, he’s just lived too long and gotten bored. The plan would have succeeded if he’d just stayed out of it. People really can’t afford to be idle. The moment you’re idle, you start trouble. The moment you start trouble, you start courting death. And the moment you court death, you die.”

The puppy in his arms licked his hand. He snuggled it deeper into his embrace. “The real victim here is me. My perfectly good system was ruined by him and now it has no energy. My spicy rabbit heads, steamed sea bass, crispy roast duck, whole roasted lamb, suckling pig, steamed lamb, steamed bear paw, steamed deer tail… none of them can have a reunion party in my stomach anymore.”

Just thinking about all that food made his mouth water.

He turned and walked away, his pace getting faster and faster.

The few who remained looked at each other in dismay. It was true they were from interstellar space, but aside from their leader, Xi Zhongjie, the rest were just ordinary citizens.

To be honest, they didn’t like war either. People die in wars, and even with their advanced technology, they could still be killed.

Their needs were simple, too: just to have enough to eat and drink.

The nutrient fluids in interstellar space were disgusting. Ever since a flying saucer accidentally landed on Earth and they discovered its environment and food, the desire to possess it had never faded.

The War Faction was originally established under the banner of conquering Earth. The Peace Faction wasn’t uninterested in Earth; they just weren’t willing to obtain it through war.

If the War Faction was a reckless tiger, then the Peace Faction was that same tiger’s venomous claws.

Both wanted to plunder. One wanted to wage an open and glorious war, while the other wanted to use treacherous schemes to win without bloodshed.

Seeing XiaoFatty really leave, another player stood up. “Um… I think XiaoFatty has a point. In the game, there are mountains, water, and scenery. Outside, there’s just polluted air and countless skyscrapers.”

With that, he followed XiaoFatty’s retreating figure.

Xi Zhongjie’s face darkened. He raised his gun and sent that player on his way.

He couldn’t afford to openly offend XiaoFatty, who had the Food System, but other people were a different story.

Although he couldn’t kill him for good right now, he could wait until they exited the game and kill him again.

“And you? Do you think the same way they do?”

The others lowered their heads, their faces obedient, but an unstoppable chill filled their eyes.

The scene splits. In the secret base, Shi Zhile closed the chat channel.

Outside the game, a torrential downpour raged, but inside the secret base, the sky was clear and vast.

By now, the secret base had expanded to two square kilometers due to the increase in players.

The game’s top technical talents had gathered here. They had reverse-engineered the mechanical arm and chip that Shi Zhile brought back, and their development was progressing far more rapidly than the outside world.

Power was available 24/7. A massive aircraft carrier was docked in the naval zone, and on its deck, two fighter jets were undergoing test flights.

The jets successfully took off and landed. A short while later, the three base leaders and Senior Sun entered, their faces beaming with joy.

Wen Changming said, “The planes, built from the materials brought back from the interstellar side, have energy shields. Miss Qiu has already finished developing them. They are embedded with an interstellar chip with coordinates set to their interstellar hub. With the massive ‘dowry’ the seniors and the System gave Miss Qiu, it should theoretically be able to break through the game’s energy barrier. If it really comes to the point of our extinction, we’ll ‘marry off’ Miss Qiu. We can take them along with her to liven things up.”

The seniors’ power increased with the island’s area and the number of players. The System, backed by the Energy Ball, had also transferred a great deal of energy to Miss Qiu.

Fearing that Miss Qiu’s “dowry” box wasn’t sturdy enough, they even used a wish to obtain a high-dimensional box.

This box was more Advanced than anything from the interstellar side. Although its material couldn’t be broken down, it could easily cut through a mechanical arm.

Ms. He came in from outside, her brow furrowed. “The rain outside has been falling for three days. Someone leaked information about Zhile’s system. The players are getting restless. If this continues, I’m afraid things will turn ugly.”

An Energy Ball floated up from Shi Zhile’s palm. He stared at it for a moment, then sneered. “They really went all out with this natural disaster. The Wish System has been absorbing energy day and night, but the concentration of energy still hasn’t dropped. I saw the chat messages. The players from the two bases are stirring up trouble quite effectively. It’s now certain that the interstellar people hidden among the players have made their move.”

The moment he finished speaking, the System’s excited voice rang out.

[Host, a new Advanced System has appeared! I’m trying to contact it, but its energy is so low that it has likely entered hibernation. Let’s go find it.]

Shi Zhile’s eyes lit up, and he repeated the System’s words.
