Chapter 223: Chapter 223: First Hearing of the God Slaughter Hall

The events of ten years ago actually trace back to her battle with Fei Heng, sixteen years prior.

Whether it was defeating Master Yunchen, the Palace Master of the Celestial Dao Palace, with a single strike or challenging Fei Heng, who was ranked first on the Human List, Leng Yingxue wasn’t doing it for fame.

Deep down, Leng Yingxue didn’t care for fame. Piaoxue Palace was composed entirely of women, and for an all-female Sect like theirs, remaining secluded in their own corner of the world was the best path to survival.

Moreover, Piaoxue Palace was located in the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, in the far northwest of the Central Domain.

Though it bordered the Western Domain and the Northern Domain, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain was a land of extreme cold. For thousands of miles, the landscape was a desolate, uninhabited world of ice and snow. With Piaoxue Palace situated deep within the mountain’s hinterland, it was nearly impossible for ordinary people to approach.

Even if a powerful expert drew near, it was impossible to conceal one’s presence in that vast, white world.

Piaoxue Palace itself was a semi-reclusive Sect that did not involve itself in worldly disputes; they couldn’t care less about fame and reputation.

Over twenty years ago, Elder Qi of Piaoxue Palace led her disciples down the mountain to procure supplies. During this trip, Elder Qi had a chance encounter with Fei Heng.

Fei Heng wasn’t the Sect Leader of any major Sect, but he had an incredibly formidable master.

Taishu Xuan, one of the two Earth Immortals in the Central Domain.

There was nothing inherently wrong with people of the Jianghu forming connections in the mortal world.

Although Piaoxue Palace disciples were generally forbidden from marrying, the rule wasn’t absolute. With the exception of the Palace Master, the Saintess, and the Seven Extremes Swordsmen, any other member—even an Elder or a Steward—could marry if she truly found her soulmate. She would simply need to submit an application. After Piaoxue Palace conducted a thorough background check on her partner to ensure he posed no threat, and after she pledged never to pass on the Sect’s Cultivation Techniques, the marriage would be permitted.

However, they would be reassigned from Inner Sect Disciples to Outer Sect Disciples and remain under Piaoxue Palace’s supervision for the rest of their lives.

After meeting Fei Heng, Elder Qi never submitted an application to Piaoxue Palace. Instead, she secretly pledged herself to him, and the twelve disciples who had accompanied her down the mountain also never returned.

An Elder and her disciples had gone down the mountain for supplies and vanished without a trace. Naturally, the Sect could not let the matter rest.

At first, Piaoxue Palace was unaware of Elder Qi’s secret affair with Fei Heng. Several Elders led the Seven Extremes Swordsmen down the mountain to search for them.

They ended up finding three of the disciples at the Celestial Dao Palace.

The Elders went to the Celestial Dao Palace to demand an explanation. But why would the Celestial Dao Palace—one of the three great Sects of the Central Domain, brimming with an arrogance cultivated over ten thousand years—bother with an Elder from Piaoxue Palace, a Sect that barely scraped by as first-tier?

They were, of course, rebuffed.

When Leng Yingxue received the news, she was incensed. She traveled alone to Laojun Mountain and challenged Master Yunchen.

Master Yunchen was defeated by her sword in a single strike.

Only then did Leng Yingxue state the reason for her visit.

Master Yunchen handed over everyone involved in obstructing the Piaoxue Palace Elders, along with the three wayward disciples.

Leng Yingxue not only crippled the Cultivation of the three disciples but also learned the whole story from them.

It turned out Elder Qi and Fei Heng had been carrying on an affair for some time. The twelve disciples, too, had their own romantic entanglements during their various trips down the mountain with the Elder.

They wanted to leave Piaoxue Palace, but they wanted to do so without having their Cultivation crippled and without remaining under the Sect’s lifelong supervision.

Piaoxue Palace eventually found the rest of the disciples, but Elder Qi and Fei Heng were nowhere to be found.

Then, four years later, Fei Heng and Elder Qi actually showed up at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain of their own accord.

They hadn’t come to admit their mistakes, of course. They were there to sever Elder Qi’s ties with Piaoxue Palace and retrieve her Lifebound Soul Lamp.

Given Leng Yingxue’s temperament and the rules of Piaoxue Palace, how could she possibly grant their wish?

A battle between Leng Yingxue and Fei Heng was inevitable.

Fei Heng was defeated and severely wounded within three strikes.

Leng Yingxue made no attempt to detain the now-traitorous Elder Qi, but she did cripple the woman’s Cultivation.

Then she drove them out of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

But in all of this, Fei Heng, Elder Qi, and the twelve disciples—they were all just pawns on someone else’s board.

The ultimate goal was Piaoxue Palace’s Profound Ice Bed.

With Fei Heng grievously injured, his Earth Immortal master was not about to stand idly by.

Ten years ago, Taishu Xuan came to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and wounded Leng Yingxue with a single palm strike.

After Taishu Xuan left, a group of black-robed figures appeared. Piaoxue Palace suffered devastating losses. Leng Yingxue, already wounded by Taishu Xuan, was once again gravely injured and even afflicted with a strange poison.

Although Shi Lun and his three companions arrived late, they managed to get there just as Leng Yingxue and several other Elders were on the brink of death.

With the exception of those already dead, the four Divine Doctors managed to save all the heavily wounded. However, they were completely at a loss as to how to treat Leng Yingxue’s injuries and the poison in her system.

In the end, after consulting with Leng Yingxue, they brought her to that grotto. There, they used the unique Eight-cornered Profound Ice Grass that grew inside to preserve her life force while they waited for a fateful opportunity.

After hearing the gist of the story, Chu Fan was filled with questions.

’My biggest question isn’t about the black-robed figures who stole the Profound Ice Bed,’ he thought. ’It’s how sleeping with Leng Yingxue managed to cure her injuries and the poison.’

’The wounds and poison that left those four old masters helpless... could they really be cured just by a night of passion?’

’If that were the case, why would she have needed to wait for ten years?’

Of course, Chu Fan wouldn’t ask Leng Yingxue this question. ’The next time I come to see Yun Xi,’ he resolved, ’I’ll have to get the real reason out of those four old men.’

’It’s probably because of my Chaos Body,’ he mused. ’Can the Chaos Body even do that?’

’But that night of passion with Yun Xi... why did that only end up triggering the Death Qi inside her? Why didn’t my Chaos Body eliminate her Death Qi?’

’So, that can’t be the answer.’

"Who were those black-robed people?" Chu Fan asked.

"The God Slaughter Hall!" Leng Yingxue said, her voice dripping with hatred.

"The God Slaughter Hall? How come I’ve never heard that name?"

’Even with Leng Yingxue already injured by Taishu Xuan’s strike, for them to successfully invade Piaoxue Palace and steal the Profound Ice Bed... that force must be at least on par with Piaoxue Palace, if not a Sect or power even stronger!’

Chu Fan had seen the rankings. He was familiar with the first and second-tier Sects of the Central Domain, but he couldn’t recall any power by that name.

"It’s not just you; even I had never heard of them before," she said. "Their Cultivation Techniques are bizarre and their methods ruthless. They are certainly no righteous Sect."

"So, what’s your plan? Are you going to get revenge?"

"How could I not seek revenge for this? The Profound Ice Bed is the inherited Treasure of the Palace. It can increase a disciple’s chances of success, whether they are just beginning their Foundation Establishment or trying to break through a bottleneck."

’God Slaughter Hall... the name alone doesn’t sound like any sort of righteous organization,’ Chu Fan thought. ’Their methods sound even more vicious than the Red Blood Mansion’s.’

"It’s been ten years. The God Slaughter Hall has probably grown even stronger by now."

Chu Fan said this hoping to make Leng Yingxue think things through and not rush into revenge blindly.

’As for me,’ he thought, ’I’m certainly in no position to help her right now.’

’How could a small fry like me, a mere Divine Separation Realm cultivator, possibly interfere in a conflict between Half-Saints?’

’Leng Yingxue may have reached the Saint Realm now, but ten years have passed. Who knows how powerful the God Slaughter Hall has become in that time?’

’Besides, the God Slaughter Hall isn’t even on the Heroic Journey rankings. It’s obvious they’re still gathering their strength in the shadows.’

"Of course, I know that," she replied. "Having learned from my past mistakes, I won’t make a move without being fully prepared. From this day forward, I will borrow the name Yun Xi and travel with you throughout the Central Domain."
