Chapter 46: Chapter 46: The Place Forgotten by God

After speaking, Yan Ying closed his eyes again, clearly not wanting to say more.

But Master Ni, on the other hand, was ready to gossip.

He walked over and sat down next to Chu Fan, asking in a low voice, "Two or three months ago, our Sect received an invitation from the Celestial Derivation Sect. It said they were going to hold a grand wedding for Shui Yuntian and Yun Xi. But... didn’t I hear that you and Yun Xi were childhood sweethearts, practically inseparable? What on earth is going on?"

Chu Fan’s expression instantly turned cold, and the temperature around him seemed to plummet by a dozen degrees.

"Senior Brother, sometimes curiosity is not a good thing."

"Ah!" Master Ni was taken aback by Chu Fan’s glare and said hurriedly, "My apologies, my apologies!"

Neither Chu Fan nor Master Ni noticed, but Yan Ying opened his eyes just then, shot Chu Fan a curious glance, and closed them again.

The scene instantly fell silent. You could have heard a pin drop.

「Midnight.」

A jet of water shot out from the mouth of the Rat statue first. Then, all twelve stone carvings of beasts sprayed jets of water from their mouths simultaneously, which converged in the air above.

This time, the jets of water didn’t fall straight down.

Instead, they formed a curtain of water high in the air.

At that moment, Yan Ying suddenly stood up and flew into the air, shooting straight for the water curtain.

The moment his body passed through the water curtain, he vanished.

"Shit, let’s go!" Master Ni yelled, scrambling to his feet and leaping into the air as well.

But by then, Chu Fan had already plunged into the water curtain.

’It’s obvious Yan Ying came prepared. He must have known the details of this ruin before he arrived.’

’Otherwise, how would he have known that the twelve stone carvings would spray water at midnight?’

’And how would he have known the curtain of water they formed was the exit?’

After passing through the water curtain, Chu Fan’s vision went black for an instant. When it cleared, he had arrived in a new space.

It was a grand hall. Above the entrance hung a plaque with four large words inscribed on it: "Land of the Fallen Gods."

Yan Ying was looking up at the plaque.

Master Ni, who appeared right behind Chu Fan, also had his attention immediately captured by the plaque.

’Land of the Fallen Gods?’

’What does that mean?’

’A place where Gods have set foot? Have Immortals visited this place?’

’Or a place where Gods have died?’

"This Divine Hall once belonged to the Divine Realm. It is rumored to have once imprisoned a God. Then, for some unknown reason, the Divine Hall fell into this world. A passage appears every three thousand years, giving only Cultivators below the Nascent Soul Realm a slight chance to come here. People who make it here can obtain a single treasure, based on their fortune. It could be a Cultivation Technique, a Martial Technique, or even a Magical Treasure or weapon. Remember this: even if you encounter a second treasure, you can only take one. Otherwise, everyone who entered together will have their Divine Souls completely annihilated."

’This was the first time Yan Ying had said so much at once. He was probably worried that his and Master Ni’s greed would get him killed, wasn’t he?’

With that, Yan Ying walked into the Divine Hall.

Master Ni hurried to follow him.

Hearing Yan Ying’s explanation, however, set Chu Fan’s mind racing with connections.

’A predecessor from the Celestial Dao Palace must have been here before.’

’That would also explain how Yan Ying was the only one who could see that I’m a Cultivator when no one else could.’

’It would also explain why, while Master Ni was worried about our sect-brothers who fainted in the passage, Yan Ying showed no concern for the nine women who came with him.’

’So you can get one treasure based on your fortune, huh?’

’I wonder what I’ll get.’

Chu Fan stepped into the grand hall as well.

However, after a ripple in the air, the grand hall he entered was completely different from what he had seen looking in from the outside.

From the outside, looking through the main doors, he had only seen an empty hall. But now that he was inside, he saw more than a dozen large, open-lidded chests arranged in the center.

But there was no sign of Yan Ying or Master Ni anywhere in the hall.

Putting them out of his mind, Chu Fan walked curiously toward the chests.

He felt like a beggar who hadn’t eaten in days suddenly stumbling upon a grand feast. Not only was every dish priceless, but they were all exotic delicacies he would never have even dared to dream of.

There were eighteen chests in total, all of different sizes. The largest was taller than Chu Fan, while the smallest was only a foot long and half a foot wide.

And what was in those chests?

One large chest was filled to the brim with books. Just from the titles on top, he could see they were either Cultivation Techniques or Martial Techniques.

There were probably no fewer than a hundred of them.

Another large chest was filled with bottles and jars. The labels on them indicated they were either Elixirs or Spirit Medicines.

The most incredible part was that Chu Fan had never even heard of any of these Elixirs or Spirit Medicines.

There must have been over a hundred bottles.

Another chest was full of unknown metals, not a single one of which Chu Fan recognized.

...

After looking through the chests one by one, Chu Fan’s hands began to tremble uncontrollably.

He desperately wanted to take all of these chests with him!

But when he remembered Yan Ying’s warning before they entered the hall, he nearly went mad with indecision. ’Which one should I choose?’

’Cultivation Techniques? I can probably rule those out. After all, the Miaolian Celestial Stabilization Technique I practice is the most suitable for my Chaos Body, and it’s not like I can switch to a new one now.’

’Sword Manuals? I’ll keep that as a possibility.’

’Elixirs? Is there one that can rapidly increase my Cultivation without harming my future Martial Dao foundation? Nah, I’ll put that in the second-tier pile for now.’

’Precious metals? To forge a Divine Soldier in the future? But forging a Divine Soldier requires a Swordsmith with the necessary skills! I’ll pass on that for now.’

Then, Chu Fan’s gaze was captured by a fist-sized, translucent blue orb in a small box.

"What is this?" he muttered. He picked up the orb and saw a slip of paper beneath it with three words written on it: "Water Spirit Pearl."

’Water Spirit Pearl?’

’What is it?’ Chu Fan felt like a sheltered child who had never seen the world; he didn’t recognize a single thing here.

Just then, the Juntian Mirror inside his Dantian suddenly reacted. As it began to vibrate, his entire Dantian felt like a tempest-tossed ocean.

Then, the Water Spirit Pearl in his hand transformed into a streak of light and shot into his Dantian.

If he had used Introspection right then, he would have seen that streak of light being devoured by the Juntian Mirror.

Before Chu Fan could even react, the Juntian Mirror flew out of his body. A golden light shot out from its smooth surface, shining upon the chests.

Then, Chu Fan could only watch, wide-eyed, as each chest illuminated by the Juntian Mirror’s light vanished right where it stood.

Once all eighteen chests had disappeared, the Juntian Mirror transformed back into a beam of light, shot into the spot between his eyebrows, and returned to his Dantian.

It was as if the scene just now had been a mere illusion, except for the fact that everything on the floor was now gone.

No, that wasn’t quite right. One thing had been left behind.

It was a Jade Bottle. On it were written the words "Earth Spirit Pill," and below that, in a line of smaller script: "After consumption, increases Combat Power by at least three Great Realms for one hour. After the effect wears off, the user will enter Gui Fan for half a month."

Chu Fan excitedly stuffed the Jade Bottle into his ring.

’This thing is incredible! The eighth of the twelfth month is almost here. I have a plan, but it’s still full of risks. With this Earth Spirit Pill, though, everything changes.’

’An increase of at least three Great Realms in Combat Power... that means for one hour after taking it, I’ll be able to fight at the Divine Separation Realm at minimum. As long as those old monsters don’t show up, who would I have to fear during that hour?’

"The treasures are gone. The Divine Hall will vanish forever. You who have received my inheritance must establish a heart for all under heaven. Remember this!"

A voice like the tolling of a great bell—the same one from before the Golden Light Net appeared on Zao Ying Mountain—rang out in the Divine Hall. The entire hall began to tremble, and rubble started crashing down...
