Chapter 53: Chapter 53: The Ignorant Are Truly Fearless

Before the Sword Qi could even reach them, Yan Ying, who had been standing silently nearby, made her move.

With a flash of her Long Sword, a streak of Sword Qi decapitated the disciple.

Blood sprayed through the air, startling Wang Xing, who was closest, and making him jump back.

The middle-aged man sensed it the moment Yan Ying drew her Sword, but he was ultimately a fraction of a second too late.

Chu Fan had originally hidden himself simply to avoid trouble.

He hadn’t expected things to take such a turn. The middle-aged man had attacked with lethal intent—how could someone with Yan Ying’s temper possibly tolerate that?

But now that someone was dead, the situation had escalated dramatically.

The middle-aged man let out a long cry and charged toward Yan Ying.

"Do you Cultivators from the Eastern Domain kill mortals with such impunity?" Yan Ying said coldly, unleashing her Python Shadow Four Swords.

The others rushed toward Wang Xing’s group of three.

At this point, Chu Fan had no choice but to reveal himself.

He flew out of his room and slashed down with his Sword. A brilliant bolt of Sword Qi shot out, blocking the path of the men charging toward Wang Xing’s group.

"Chu Fan? You’re not dead?" The middle-aged man, who was locked in combat with Yan Ying, glanced at Chu Fan in astonishment.

"You know me?" Chu Fan asked.

"The number one prodigy of the Eastern Domain. Who doesn’t?" The middle-aged man’s voice was tinged with mockery.

Hearing the man’s words, Yan Ying unexpectedly stopped and retreated to the side, lowering her Sword.

"Which Sect are you from?" Chu Fan asked.

"The Celestial Derivation Sect! That’s right, the very Sect Yun Xi is set to marry into," the middle-aged man said, his voice laced with smug satisfaction.

"And them?" Chu Fan asked, gesturing toward the dozen or so men who had come with him.

"They are also disciples of the Celestial Derivation Sect, of course. We were originally here to hunt for a Demon, but I never thought we’d run into you. How about this? I’ll take you back to the Celestial Derivation Sect for a cup of wedding wine."

"Which Sects from the Six Sects and Eight Gates have sent disciples to this town?" Although Chu Fan was filled with rage, he didn’t let it show.

"There are also disciples from the Wuji Sect. What’s the matter? Afraid of being humiliated?"

The moment the middle-aged man finished speaking, several figures flew into the courtyard. In addition, more than a dozen others rushed in through the gate.

Chu Fan had already realized the man was stalling for time.

"Chu Fan?" All four of the figures who flew in recognized him.

Chu Fan recognized three of the four newcomers. One was Chi Junfei, a disciple of the Celestial Derivation Sect and one of the most outstanding disciples of his generation. He was six years older than Chu Fan and had already reached the Golden Core Realm at the age of twenty-seven.

The other two were from the Wuji Sect: a pair of twins named Dai Congxian and Substitution Technique. Chu Fan knew of them because they were the only twins of such high talent in all the Six Sects and Eight Gates. He also knew them for their rather unsavory reputation.

The last was another middle-aged man dressed in the robes of a Wuji Sect disciple, whom Chu Fan did not recognize.

The first middle-aged man from the Celestial Derivation Sect said to Chi Junfei, "Junfei, I’ll leave Chu Fan to you. The rest of you, help me take care of this other one. I didn’t expect to find such a powerful young expert in the Eastern Domain."

The "powerful young expert" he was referring to was, of course, Yan Ying.

From the very beginning, he had never taken Chu Fan seriously.

’After all,’ he thought, ’Chu Fan’s Golden Core was shattered. Even if he can somehow practice Cultivation again, it’s only been a few months. He can’t possibly be that strong.’

And as it turned out, he wasn’t the only one who thought so.

Chi Junfei said with a sneer, "Senior Brother Mo, you can’t be serious? To kill a piece of trash like him, wouldn’t any random disciple do?"

"No, no, no, Junior Brother Junfei, why kill him?" said Senior Brother Mo. "Wouldn’t it be far more interesting to bring him back to the Sect and make him watch our Saint Heir get married with his own eyes?"

The others all burst into laughter at his words.

Yan Ying moved to Chu Fan’s side and nudged him with her shoulder. "Seems your popularity as the Eastern Domain’s number one prodigy isn’t all that great," she whispered with a chuckle.

"I’m going to start a massacre today. Are you in?" Chu Fan said quietly to Yan Ying, his cold gaze fixed on Chi Junfei and his cronies.

"How about you beg me?" Yan Ying grinned.

"Then you get no share of the Scroll," Chu Fan shot her a look.

"So stingy. You can’t even take a joke," Yan Ying huffed.

Chi Junfei shouted, "What are you two muttering about? Have you decided to surrender peacefully?"

Chu Fan shouted to Ye Xiaohan’s group, "Xiaohan, you three, get back in the room."

"Brother Chu, I can help," Ye Xiaohan said, eager to join the fight.

"Do as I say. Get inside now!" Chu Fan’s tone left no room for argument.

Ye Xiaohan and his companions glanced at the crowd before retreating back into the room.

Dai Congxian sneered, "Chu Fan, you don’t actually believe the two of you can fight off all of us, do you?"

"Barbarians will be Barbarians," Yan Ying sighed, shaking her head as she shot into the air.

The moment Yan Ying moved, Chu Fan moved too.

Having experienced such dramatic ups and downs in his life, how could the Chu Fan of today have his focus shattered by a few emotional provocations?

’These men were so full of mockery. They had no idea that Chu Fan had already decided to kill them all just to keep the news of his survival from spreading.’

’If they had been disciples from any of the other Six Sects and Eight Gates, he might have hesitated, might not have gone for the kill.’

’But killing men from these two Sects? Chu Fan felt no burden at all.’

’The Celestial Derivation Sect was destined to become his mortal enemy sooner or later. Killing a few of them now made no difference.’

’And the people from the Wuji Sect were hardly better than those from the Red Blood Mansion, so he felt no guilt killing them either. Besides, the Sect Leader of the Wuji Sect had a long-standing feud with Chu Fan’s own eldest senior brother.’

The two of them struck at the same instant. Yan Ying used her Python Shadow Four Swords.

Chu Fan, meanwhile, unleashed the First Technique of the Dream-Breaking Meteor Sword.

He attacked Chi Junfei directly. With a single slash of his Sword, nearly a hundred motes of Starfire, condensed from Sword Qi, shot forth.

Chi Junfei, of course, had no idea what this Starfire was, but he still retreated a few steps cautiously. Then, he slashed out with his own Sword. A beam of Sword Light, like a rainbow piercing the sun, streaked toward Chu Fan.

"Awakening Dream Clarity Like Sun and Stars!"

This was the Third Technique of the Dream-Breaking Meteor Sword. Chu Fan had only just reached the Minor Success Realm with it. It was his first time using it against an opponent, and the first time he had ever unleashed this Sword Technique with his full power.

However, as the Sword Form began and the Sword Gang coalesced, it shone like a dazzling sun. All who saw Chu Fan draw his Sword were temporarily blinded.

The Sword Gang instantly shattered the incoming Sword Light and shot toward Chi Junfei with the speed of a lightning bolt.

Chi Junfei didn’t even have time to react before his entire head exploded, showering the ground in a rain of blood and brain matter.

Just as the others recovered from their temporary blindness, they saw Chi Junfei’s headless corpse collapse to the ground.

"Junfei!" Senior Brother Mo screamed.

"You have time to worry about others?" Yan Ying’s voice was followed almost instantly by her Sword piercing through Senior Brother Mo’s ear.

In a single exchange, Yan Ying and Chu Fan had killed two of their opponents.

The others were struck with terror. For those who knew Chu Fan, the power of his two sword strikes was so incredible it was like seeing a ghost.

The men from the Wuji Sect were already thinking of retreat, but Yan Ying and Chu Fan gave them no such opportunity.

After killing Senior Brother Mo and Chi Junfei, they didn’t pause for even a moment before launching their next assault.

A crimson shadow, like a python, weaved and struck through the crowd.

A Sword Gang as brilliant as a sun once again blinded many of the men.

Screams of agony mingled with the CRASH and BOOM of rampaging Sword Qi striking nearby objects, filling the air with a symphony of destruction...
