Chapter 95: Chapter 95: Starting with the Wuji Sect

The Sword Dao Inheritance was less a Sword Manual and more a journal of insights into the Sword Dao, left behind by a great master.

It melded a swordsman’s insights on the Sword Dao into the Basic Thirteen Techniques. During a duel, it would unleash the full, devastating potential of the Basic Thirteen Techniques, which would in turn enhance other Sword Techniques.

That was why, even though Chu Fan had only used the ’point’ and ’thrust’ from the Basic Thirteen Techniques, his attacks were no less impressive than the Sword Techniques of other swordsmen.

Two strikes were all it took to incapacitate the two Late Stage Golden Core Realm martial artists.

He had intended to leave them alive to extract information. If he had wanted them dead, those two strikes would have been enough to slit their throats.

Sheathing his sword, Chu Fan walked over to their side.

The Left Envoy of the Luoyang Valley guards had introduced them earlier. One was an Elder from the Bi Yun Sect, and the other was the Third Elder of the Spirit Star Sect.

The Bi Yun Sect and Spirit Star Sect were both second-tier Sects in the Eastern Domain, with likely fewer than a thousand disciples each, which explained why Late Stage Golden Core Realm cultivators could already be Elders.

"Speak. What exactly is the Red Blood Mansion trying to achieve by having you wreak havoc in the mortal world?"

He let the rain wash over their wounds, mixing with the blood that flowed across the ground. Chu Fan looked down on them, his question delivered with a cool indifference.

The Bi Yun Sect Elder turned his head away and said angrily, "Kill us or cut us to pieces, do as you please. You won’t get a single useful thing out of us."

"Mm." Chu Fan nodded, his gaze shifting to the Third Elder of the Spirit Star Sect. "And you? Planning on doing the same?"

The Third Elder of the Spirit Star Sect spat a mouthful of blood at Chu Fan, only to have it blocked by a wall of True Qi.

"Scoundrel! The Red Blood Mansion will make you pay a hundredfold for what you’ve done today! It won’t be long, I guarantee it, before both of you will wish you were dead but be unable to die."

"Oh? I’ve never seen what it’s like to be unable to live yet unable to die. Why don’t I use you two as a demonstration?" Chu Fan sneered.

As he spoke, Chu Fan raised the Juntian Sword. With a casual flick, its Sword Qi tore the Third Elder’s robes to shreds. When the wind blew the tatters away, only a pair of underpants remained, revealing his pale skin.

The Juntian Sword looked mottled with rust, its edge full of nicks, but the Sword Qi it produced was incredibly fierce, in no way inferior to that of a Celestial Grade Treasure Sword.

"What are you doing?" The Third Elder of the Spirit Star Sect crossed his arms over his chest, shouting hysterically.

"I’m making an example of you. Didn’t you just say the Red Blood Mansion would make us wish for death but find no release? Good. From now on, don’t speak. We’re going to enjoy this process together."

Even Yun Xi felt a chill crawl down her spine at Chu Fan’s words, and she turned her back to the scene.

Chu Fan thrust his sword into the hollow of the Third Elder’s shoulder. Blood went flying.

A faint tremor running through the Juntian Sword finally made Chu Fan realize something was different.

The splattered blood was being devoured by the sword. In fact, with the blade still embedded in the man, his blood was continuing to be absorbed.

The Third Elder also realized this battered sword was sucking and devouring his blood, and a look of sheer terror finally crossed his face.

His eyes filled with horror. Seeing this, the other man began to curse Chu Fan nonstop.

Now that he had made this discovery, Chu Fan simply left the sword in the man’s shoulder. "Guess how long it’ll take this sword to drain all your blood?" he threatened.

"You’re a demon! Kill me! Just kill me, please!" the man shrieked hysterically.

From the man’s expression and screams, Chu Fan could deduce that the pain of having his blood devoured by the Juntian Sword was far from ordinary.

The Juntian Sword continued to devour. Gripping the hilt, Chu Fan felt a sense of glee emanating from the blade.

’That’s right, an emotion. The Juntian Sword has emotions.’

The air was filled with the Third Elder’s agonized screams and furious, hateful curses.

The Bi Yun Sect Elder, however, had wisely fallen silent.

Chu Fan kept his hand on his sword, watching dispassionately as the Third Elder’s face grew increasingly pale. Soon, the screams and curses gave way to pleas for mercy.

Chu Fan was completely unmoved by his pleas.

"I’m begging you! Either kill me or let me go! I’ll answer anything you ask!"

"Heh," Chu Fan sneered. "Just keep enjoying this feeling of wishing for death but finding no release."

With that, his gaze shifted to the Bi Yun Sect Elder. His eyes hardened as he asked, "What about you? Do you want to experience the same... pleasure? Or..."

Before Chu Fan could finish, the Bi Yun Sect Elder shot a panicked glance at the Third Elder and hastily said, "I’ll talk! I’ll talk! I’ll tell you anything you want to know!"

In the ensuing interrogation, the man was quite cooperative, though he didn’t know much.

He only knew that many Sects like his own Bi Yun Sect had been ordered by the Red Blood Mansion to enter the mortal world. Red Blood Mansion wouldn’t question whatever they chose to do there.

But if any of the notified Sects failed to comply, the Red Blood Mansion would move to conquer them.

His Sect Leader guessed that the Red Blood Mansion wanted to unify the Eastern Domain’s Cultivation Realm. Their plan was to start by controlling the pool of potential disciples, preventing the Six Sects and Eight Gates from recruiting anyone new.

Once some of the minor Sects began stirring up chaos in the mortal world, it would drain the attention and resources of the Six Sects and Eight Gates.

Once the Eastern Domain fell into chaos, any of the Six Sects and Eight Gates on good terms with the royal families of the region’s kingdoms would be forced to get involved...

It wasn’t a lot of information, but when combined with the Red Blood Mansion’s actions since its establishment, Chu Fan saw far more than the members of those minor Sects did.

It wasn’t that Chu Fan was any smarter than the Sect Leaders and Elders of those minor Sects; it was that those men were so blinded by greed and ambition that they hadn’t thought about it too deeply.

As an outsider, however, Chu Fan naturally saw far more than those who were already part of the game.

’The Red Blood Mansion’s plan is probably to unleash the greed and ambition in those men’s hearts. Let them plunge the Eastern Domain into such misery that the common people can’t survive. Then, the Red Blood Mansion can appear before the world as a shining, righteous savior. They could even use the chaos to blackmail the kingdoms of the Eastern Domain.’

It was a classic case of the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.

By the time he had squeezed every last bit of information from the Bi Yun Sect Elder, the Third Elder of the Spirit Star Sect was still screaming and begging for mercy. His voice had grown faint, however, and his body had shriveled significantly.

The man, who had once been burly, was now nothing but skin and bones.

With a single slash, Chu Fan slit the Bi Yun Sect Elder’s throat. Under the man’s incredulous, dying gaze, he then swung his sword again, beheading the Third Elder of the Spirit Star Sect.

He used the Juntian Sword to drain both men of their blood before finally leaving the Ten-Mile Pavilion with Yun Xi.

"This direction leads to Nanling County City. Are we heading back there?" Yun Xi asked.

Chu Fan glanced at Yun Xi and slapped his own forehead.

He said, "Let’s start with the Wuji Sect!"

"What do you mean?" Yun Xi didn’t understand.

Yun Xi watched as Chu Fan scrunched up his face, stretched his arms, and kicked his legs. In moments, he had transformed into a middle-aged man in his forties with prominent cheekbones, deep-set eyes, downturned eyebrows, and a thick mustache.

This was the appearance of a Steward Elder from the Wuji Sect, whom Chu Fan had seen once at the Tengxing Grand Assembly.

"How about you become the Wuji Sect’s Saint Heir, Zhu Zishu?"

"What does Zhu Zishu look like?"

"Oh, right. I forgot you’ve never seen him. Let me change first so you can see." As he spoke, Chu Fan transformed again, becoming a young man of about twenty-seven or twenty-eight.

The man wasn’t tall—only about five-foot-eight—with thick eyebrows and large eyes. He looked somewhat simple and honest, but his gaze was exceptionally sharp.

Yun Xi copied the appearance and transformed as well, though she was still dressed in women’s clothes.

Chu Fan took a set of silver-white long robes from his ring and handed them to Yun Xi. He then changed back into the form of the Wuji Sect’s Steward Elder.

"From now on, my name is Bao Zhishuang, a Steward Elder of the Wuji Sect. You are Zhu Zishu, the Saint Heir of the Wuji Sect. The first fire we light in the Eastern Domain will be at the Wuji Sect’s own door." Chu Fan ended his sentence with a cold snort.
