Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Ch. 2801 Are You Gutless?
The girl tilted her head, thinking for a moment. “Not yet, but once I catch you and throw you into Punishment City, it’ll count. You have a strong constitution and your secondary evolution is excellent, maybe we can extract something useful and produce more geniuses in Zone 022.”
“Is that so?” Xu Huo said indifferently, “Looks like you and Lei Jie Lian really are sisters—both gutsy as hell.”
“Is that a problem?” the girl retorted. She spoke as if it were obvious: “I just gave you a chance, but you didn’t cherish it. So now you have to die. There’s no way I’ll let you leave Zone 022 with my stuff.”
“You’re celebrating too soon.” Xu Huo grinned, just about to ignite the Time Force. The opponent warily retreated, and at the same time, long strips of spatial bodies extended from the side walls of the hall, coming together in front of her to form a new wall.
“Fast runner, huh.” Using a spatial barrier to prop up the web of colors, Xu Huo took off the “Hand of Space-Time” from his right hand. The transparent finger bone of his index finger was revealed, and with a gentle tap on the web, the Super A-level prop dissolved into air.
He knew the twin sister hadn’t gone far; it was just that this venue prop blocked him from pinpointing her exact position. He touched the spatial body protruding from the wall with a hint of regret.
The spatial body instantly disintegrated under the interference of Superdimensional Space Power. The entire venue prop reverted to its original state in a flash. Standing once again in the hall of Building 17, he flashed a grin at the terrified twin sister…
The Time Force instantly flooded a vast swath of the building. Unsurprisingly, it caught the girl who hadn’t escaped into the station right away. Her features began to age at a rate visible to the naked eye—a childlike face quickly lined with wrinkles.
“I gave you a chance too.” Xu Huo stepped forward, the Time Force receding wherever he walked, only to recover behind him as he passed. He stopped a few meters away and said to the girl, “This time won’t kill you right away. You have three minutes. If the District Government is willing to name a price to save you, I’ll let you go. How’s that?”
The twin sister was completely immobilized, but she could still sense what was happening—knew she was aging rapidly. Sudden, uncontrollable aging is a terrifying thing for anyone, let alone someone who, just moments before, was a Rank-A player striding across the game districts!
“Mr. Xu.” Came the voice of the short-haired woman from outside Building 17. “Can you come out and talk?”
Xu Huo had sealed up the entrance of the venue prop as well; the people from Zone 022 could only holler from outside.
“You again.” Xu Huo chuckled, “What, do you always clean up after the Chief Governor’s kids?”
The short-haired woman was professional—she showed no impatience or displeasure. “We have a couple Superdimensional Instruments in Zone 022 too. With your Time Force covering such a large area, if we use a Superdimensional Instrument, you can’t guarantee you’ll get out in one piece. Why not take it easy, everything’s negotiable.”
“Sure.” Xu Huo manipulated Spatial Power, directly severed the twin sister’s hands and feet, then released the Time Force, and finally pinned her in place with a spider lock he’d snatched from the Law Enforcement Team.
A full elite team of Rank-A players had assembled outside Building 17, over twenty in all. The short-haired woman stood at the very front, leading the negotiations.
She’d already taken in the girl’s state. Losing her hands and feet was secondary. The important thing was, in the span of a conversation, the girl had aged decades. She’d even suffered several broken bones in the process. At this point, escaping was about as meaningful as running to your death; even if she made the station, she wouldn’t make it out alive.
But she was still breathing, so they had no choice but to try to retrieve her.
“About Lei Jie Lian, we’d already come to terms, and the District Government agreed not to pursue it. Yet on my very last checkpoint, you set a trap for me. Isn’t that a bit much? Or is the District Government indulging this on purpose?”
“This was indeed our oversight. Miss Sandy found out about Miss Lei Jie’s situation by accident and acted before notifying anyone. We just found out ourselves.” The short-haired woman apologized sincerely. “She’s paid the price for her actions. The District Government is willing to compensate you. What do you think?”
“Any compensation?” Xu Huo raised an eyebrow.
“Of course, but Superdimensional Instruments and Super Props are off the table.” The short-haired woman smiled. “I hope you understand.”
Even though Xu Huo now had the power level of a Super A-level Player, he couldn’t pull off a massacre like a true Super A-level Player. Asking for Superdimensional Instruments or Super Props was wishful thinking; even if a real Super Player came, the district would still fight tooth and nail over it.
Compensating with some props was the most cost-effective way to pacify trouble for Zone 022, especially since he was known to be a “reasonable” man. This helped save Zone 022 some face.
The District Government’s easygoing attitude surprised Xu Huo a bit. Normally, even if he had revealed Temporal Evolution, a heavyweight district wouldn’t back down so readily. When Super Players attack these districts, it’s usually a fun fight—let alone for someone like him.
“Zone 022—anything big about to go down?” he asked after thinking it over.
The short-haired woman’s expression flickered but was quickly concealed. She said, “The district anniversary is right around the corner. The whole area will be bustling. Mr. Xu, you’re welcome to stay for the celebration. On behalf of the District Government, I can reserve you a seat at the grand ceremony in Capital City.”
“No need.” Xu Huo replied blandly, “I lost a lot this time. Hand over eight or ten Rank A props—good ones, too.”
Even faced with his outrageous demand, the short-haired woman kept smiling. “I’ll report this to my superiors. Why don’t you check in to the Eternal Star Hotel and wait for our response? All costs will be on the District Government’s tab.”
Xu Huo waved his hand. The fallen seal behind the counter flew to him. He stamped it onto his travel route map and successfully cleared the stage.
He’d cleared the level and, not wasting his trip, even received a game item. With such a fruitful haul, he didn’t really care how much “compensation” Zone 022 ended up giving him—but he did go to stay at the Eternal Star Hotel.
Living by the principle of seeing things through to the end, he posted one final travel log:
“District Government gifts me free accommodation—a perfect end to my journey!”
After days of being bombarded by “Truth Goodness Beauty” travel logs, now the comments were a unified wall of “niiiceee!” Even some relatives of government staffers showed up to confirm that Capital City really did provide an Outer Zone player with free accommodation at the Eternal Star Hotel.
From being targeted by the Law Enforcement Team at the start, to being “tricked” into breaking into Punishment City and then blowing up said city, then beating the Law Enforcement Team so badly their faces looked Bi Qinglian, and now—this kind of person being wined and dined by the District Government? For a while, “District Government, do you even have guts?” was everywhere on the Collection of Information Terminal.
