Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Carsick?

Outside the detention center.

When Vivian Lowell came out, she saw Julian Faulkner waiting for her in the lobby.

"How did it go?"

Julian Faulkner immediately walked over and took Vivian Lowell’s hand.

Vivian Lowell nodded. "It was a success. She agreed. She told me a few things, but she’s been locked up in the detention center for so long."

"She’s not sure if the evidence she knew about before can still be found in the same places."

That made sense. It had been almost two months since Rachel Faulkner’s arrest. Felix Faulkner would have definitely destroyed the evidence. It was a little late to be looking for it now.

"Let’s talk in the car."

Julian Faulkner could tell the situation was complicated, so he led Vivian Lowell to the car. He then asked, "Are you still busy at the office? If you are, we can go back there."

"I’m not busy. Let’s just go home. This matter will require time and manpower to plan out anyway."

Vivian Lowell considered it for a moment, then said, "Let’s go home. It’s already past three. By the time we get back to the office, it’ll be after four, and there won’t be much to do."

"Alright."

Julian Faulkner agreed, and they got into the car together.

In the car, Vivian Lowell explained in detail what Rachel Faulkner had told her, including her previous communications with Felix Faulkner.

And how whenever Rachel Faulkner needed people or things, Felix Faulkner would proactively provide them.

"Rachel Faulkner speculates that Felix Faulkner might have been involved in some illegal activities while he was abroad all these years, and after returning to the country, he wants to bring that supply chain here."

"That would also explain how a sniper could have appeared at that container warehouse and killed Robert Lowell before the police arrived!"

"That kind of weapon isn’t something you can just get your hands on easily. And back then, when Rachel Faulkner and Wendy Wynn teamed up, they had tasers too!"

Rachel Faulkner suspected that Felix Faulkner might be involved in smuggling!

Because of this, Felix Faulkner had likely accumulated some connections and capital over the years, which is why he wanted to return and expand his operations.

Taking back the Faulkner Group would be great, but even if he couldn’t, turning his shares into cash would also help his ’business’ grow!

When Vivian Lowell finished explaining the situation, the expression on Julian Faulkner’s face grew grim.

"We can’t let Felix Faulkner continue running wild like this. This is Veridia, not the places he’s used to. The way they do things abroad won’t fly here!"

"What’s more, trying to use the Faulkner Family is out of the question! The Faulkner Family’s reputation has been built over so many years; it can’t be ruined by one person!"

"Vivian, this is a very serious matter. I’ll handle it carefully from here on out. You should get less involved. I’m worried about your safety."

Vivian Lowell nodded.

She was just a girl, after all. Even though she knew judo and could handle one or two people, if what Rachel Faulkner said was true and Felix Faulkner was involved in illegal activities and had men at his disposal...

Then Vivian Lowell would be in real danger.

"You be careful, too,"

Vivian Lowell added, reminding Julian Faulkner.

Julian Faulkner nodded, squeezing Vivian Lowell’s hand tightly.

The drive from the detention center back to the Faulkner Family estate was a little over an hour. Vivian Lowell and Julian Faulkner had only spent about ten minutes talking, so with nothing else to do, Vivian took out her phone.

’Time to watch some videos!’

Vivian Lowell opened the homepage of a content creator she followed and discovered they had just updated with the fifth installment of a game series she was eagerly anticipating!

The sequel was being released in several parts, and this creator had already uploaded the first two. The two videos combined were exactly an hour long!

’If I finish this before I get home, maybe they’ll have uploaded another one!’

Vivian Lowell was delighted. She clicked on the video and had just started watching with relish when she saw the male and female leads get separated by a booby trap. At that moment, she clutched her chest.

She felt a little unwell.

"Ugh!"

Vivian Lowell felt waves of dizziness and a bit of nausea. Thankfully, it was just dry heaving; she didn’t actually throw anything up, or it would have been mortifying.

"What’s wrong?"

Julian Faulkner had just taken out his laptop to handle some work. Seeing Vivian Lowell suddenly feel unwell, he tossed the computer aside and hurried over to check on her.

"I’m fine. I think I’m just carsick."

Vivian Lowell put her phone aside, closed her eyes, and leaned back against the cushion behind her.

Vivian Lowell had gotten carsick ever since she was a child. Back then, she would feel nauseous just by getting near a car and smelling the gasoline, even before getting in!

As she grew up, perhaps because she took cars more often, she gradually stopped getting carsick as much. She could even watch videos sometimes.

She just never expected this. Today was perfectly fine, and they weren’t even on a mountain road. Could she really have gotten carsick just from looking at her phone?

"Vance."

Julian Faulkner glanced worriedly at Vivian Lowell a few times. Seeing that her complexion was relatively normal, he seemed to relax a little and said, "Drive a bit slower."

"Yes..." Vance Wyatt broke out in a cold sweat.

His driving had always been incredibly steady. He wasn’t like some novice drivers who swerved all over, loved to accelerate, and slammed on the brakes—that was what made people carsick!

’The madam actually got carsick in a car I was driving!’

Vance Wyatt, afraid that something was wrong with Vivian Lowell and that he would be blamed by Julian Faulkner, cautiously asked, "Uh... President Faulkner, should I open the madam’s window a little?"

"I’ve heard that a little fresh air helps with carsickness, and that air conditioning can actually make it worse."

Julian Faulkner glanced at the sun outside.

The weather today was truly beautiful. There were barely any clouds in the sky, just an endless expanse of blue, like a lake.

Well, the sun was just too strong, and it was mid-June...

"Vivian, do you want some fresh air?" Julian Faulkner decided to ask Vivian Lowell. He didn’t mind the heat himself, but he was afraid she would get sunburned!

"Let’s get some air."

Vivian Lowell felt another wave of nausea rising in her chest. The smell of the air-conditioned car was making her feel even worse, so she could only hope some fresh air might help.

The window was quickly opened.

After getting some fresh air, Vivian Lowell actually felt a tiny bit better. She no longer clutched her chest, simply leaning back and doing nothing, just waiting to get home.

She thought the rest of the ride would be smooth, but just as they were approaching the Faulkner estate, Vivian Lowell started feeling sick again.

"Ugh."

She had been enduring it.

This feeling of carsickness was just so frustrating. It wasn’t a big deal, and she hadn’t wanted to worry Julian Faulkner, but who knew she wouldn’t be able to hold it in and would almost throw up again.

"Do you need a bag?"

Julian Faulkner wasn’t disgusted in the slightest; instead, he asked thoughtfully.

Vivian Lowell shook her head.

When she got carsick, she felt like throwing up, but she usually didn’t. She would just dry heave for a bit. She would only actually vomit if she felt unwell for a long time and heaved too much.

Right now, even though her stomach was churning, she wasn’t at the point of throwing up.

"Do you want some water?"

Julian Faulkner frowned, trying hard to think of another solution.

Vivian Lowell shook her head. Seeing the familiar streetscape outside, she said, "Let me get out and walk for a bit. I probably didn’t sleep well last night."

"That’s probably why I’ve felt this tightness in my chest and discomfort since this morning."

Hearing this, Julian Faulkner thought it sounded like a good idea. He had Vance Wyatt pull over to the side of the road, and he and Vivian Lowell got out of the car.

"Park the car in the garage, then you can go home. If anything else comes up, we’ll contact you on WhatsApp," Julian Faulkner instructed Vance Wyatt.

Vance Wyatt nodded solemnly and slowly drove away.

After getting out of the car, Vivian Lowell’s legs felt a bit weak. Thankfully, with Julian Faulkner holding her hand, she was finally able to stand steadily.

The road leading back to their gated community was very quiet. Both sides were lined with towering trees and numerous flowers. There were so many flowers in the summer.

Walking along this road was not only cool but also filled with the fragrance of flowers.

Just then, Vivian Lowell caught the scent of gardenias.

It was rich and refreshing.

"That smells nice."

Vivian Lowell’s lips curled into a smile. Just then, she spotted a small pharmacy by the roadside and paused.

"What is it?"

Julian Faulkner followed Vivian Lowell’s gaze to the pharmacy and asked, "Do you want to buy something?"

"Let’s go buy a box of Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid. It helps with nausea," Vivian Lowell said, heading to the pharmacy with Julian Faulkner.

Inside the pharmacy, two young clerks were on duty. Since there were no other customers, they immediately came forward to greet Vivian Lowell and Julian Faulkner as they entered.

"Welcome. Are you feeling unwell? What medicine do you need?"

"Do you have any Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid? I just got out of the car and I’m a little carsick and nauseous."

Upon hearing this, the clerk quickly replied, "Yes, we do. Just a moment, I’ll go get it."

The clerk was quick, returning in less than a minute with a box of Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid. She then asked, "Do you need anything else besides this?"

Vivian Lowell shook her head, and the clerk prepared to ring her up.

As she was scanning the item, the clerk glanced at Vivian Lowell. Something must have occurred to her, because she added a reminder, "By the way, Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid is not suitable for pregnant women."

"Ma’am, you’re not pregnant, are you?"

Pregnant!?

When those words surfaced in Vivian Lowell’s mind, the hand holding her phone almost trembled.

Thankfully, she steadied her hand and didn’t drop her phone on the floor.

’Pregnant women can’t drink Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid.’

She hadn’t known that. But as for whether she was pregnant...

Vivian Lowell’s mind buzzed. She suddenly remembered that her period last month had come around the tenth, and now it was already the middle of the month.

’Does that mean my period is four or five days late?’

Vivian Lowell wrung her hands, feeling uncertain.

Her period was never regular, but it was never more than a week late. This time, it hadn’t been a full week yet, so she couldn’t be sure if she was pregnant.

After all...

She and Julian Faulkner hadn’t been using any protection.

"Well..."

Vivian Lowell hesitated, turning to look at Julian Faulkner.
