Chapter 265: Chapter 265: Pregnant

Julian was also slightly taken aback.

He remained incredibly calm. After a moment of thought, he asked the clerk, "Do you have any pregnancy tests? My wife’s period is four days late this month.

"Though her cycle is sometimes irregular, so we can’t be certain she’s pregnant."

Hearing this, the clerk hurried to grab some pregnancy tests. "If it’s been less than a month, these might not be entirely accurate," she told Julian.

"You can test first, but if your wife’s period still hasn’t arrived in a few days, she might need a blood test at the hospital. Blood tests are much more precise. Generally, a pregnancy can be detected at one month."

"Thank you," Julian said politely. After paying, he took Vivian Lowell’s hand, and they began walking home.

Vivian was in a bit of a daze.

Was she really pregnant?

Although she had considered this possibility before, now that it might actually be happening, she felt incredibly nervous!

Lately, she had been sticking to a routine of sleeping early, waking up early, and exercising regularly. However, she had eaten quite a lot of "unhealthy" food during their recent trip to the beach.

She had eaten barbecue for several meals alone.

Weren’t pregnant women supposed to avoid barbecue?

Would eating it have any negative effects on the baby?

Vivian wanted to cry but had no tears left.

At this moment, Julian squeezed her hand and said softly, "Don’t overthink it. We’ll test when we get back.

"If that doesn’t work, we’ll go to the hospital. No matter what, I’ll take good care of you."

He spoke those words with absolute solemnity.

Hearing this, the heart Vivian had been agonizing over instantly settled. She suddenly remembered what Julian had told the clerk in the pharmacy.

*My wife’s period is four days late this month.*

Four days.

Even Vivian herself wasn’t entirely certain of the exact number of days. She hadn’t expected Julian to remember her time of the month so clearly.

When he said he would take care of her, he absolutely meant it.

"Okay. No matter what happens, let’s just go home first," Vivian replied as they continued their walk home, hand in hand.

The distance wasn’t far. Twenty minutes later, Vivian and Julian arrived at the Faulkner family villa.

Ms. Shaw came over to open the door. Seeing Vivian and Julian, she greeted them and asked, "What would you and the young madam like to eat tonight, sir? I’m just getting ready to cook!"

What did she want to eat?

Vivian didn’t have any ideas at the moment, so Julian said, "Something light, please. Vivian got a bit carsick today. Ms. Shaw, use your best judgment. I’ll take Vivian upstairs to rest first!"

"Understood," Ms. Shaw replied politely.

In the living room, Grandma Faulkner, who was watching TV, turned her head at Julian’s words. She muttered, "What? Vivian got carsick?

"Julian, have your driving skills gotten worse? Vivian is in such good health; why would she suddenly get carsick?"

Watching Grandma Faulkner blindly blame her eldest grandson, Vivian smiled. She was just about to explain on Julian’s behalf when he spoke up himself.

"It’s my fault. I didn’t take good care of her. Grandma, I’m going to take Vivian upstairs to rest."

Julian sincerely admitted to his "mistake."

Grandma Faulkner paused, clearly not expecting him to just accept her reprimand so easily. She simply pursed her lips and said to Vivian, "Well, Vivian, remember to take good care of yourself!

"If Julian fails to look after you properly, make sure you let me know!"

"I will, Grandma," Vivian agreed with a smile. She and Julian then headed upstairs.

They had bought a large box of pregnancy tests. Vivian’s plan was to use one now to check. If it was inconclusive, she would try again tomorrow morning with her first urine. If that still didn’t work, she would just have to wait a few more days.

After all, it was better to take these tests in the morning. But since it had been less than a month, it still might not show up!

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have bought so many!

Upon entering their room, Vivian hurriedly grabbed a test and went into the bathroom. Filled with apprehension, Vivian and Julian waited for five minutes. Staring at the single line on the stick, both fell into deep thought.

Was she really not pregnant, or was it just too early to tell?

Unsure, Vivian simply lay down on the bed and sighed. "Maybe I really just got carsick. Looking at a phone while in the car makes it really easy to get motion sickness!"

Julian’s expression was a bit complex. It was hard to tell if he was still worried or feeling disappointed.

After all...

When the pharmacy clerk had mentioned the words "pregnant women," not only Vivian but Julian himself had felt extremely nervous.

He had always kept careful track of Vivian’s menstrual cycle. Whenever her time of the month arrived, he would prepare a lot of things for her. For example, brown sugar water, heating pads, and himself.

Vivian loved it when he rubbed her stomach with his hand. She said his hand was just the right size to completely cover the area where she felt discomfort. His pressure was always perfect. With his massages, she felt incredibly comfortable!

As for the heating pads and brown sugar water, Julian wasn’t entirely sure if the brown sugar actually did anything, but he knew that drinking hot water made her feel better. Her lower abdomen also needed to be kept constantly warm!

He looked forward to having a child with Vivian. Every time her period was a few days late, Julian would feel a surge of anticipation. This time was no different.

It was just that earlier in the car, when Vivian said she felt unwell and carsick, Julian’s brain had instantly short-circuited. He hadn’t thought that far ahead.

But now...

"Then you should rest for now," Julian said, deciding it was best to let her recover. "Are you hot? Do you want me to turn on the AC?"

"Um... not really," Vivian replied. "I’m a little sleepy, so I’ll take a nap. Usually, carsickness goes away after a good sleep."

"Okay." Julian agreed. After drawing the curtains for her, he headed to the study to handle some work.

For the rest of the day, right through dinner, Vivian didn’t feel unwell again. When she finally got into bed after her evening shower, she went back to watching videos.

As they lay in bed together, Julian tucked her in and asked, "Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere else?"

Vivian shook her head. "It must have really just been carsickness. I felt a lot better after I woke up from my nap, and I didn’t feel sick during dinner at all!

"By the way, Julian, is Vance Wyatt following up on the Felix Faulkner situation?"

"Yes, he is." Julian elaborated, "In the past few years, although I secretly had people monitoring Felix’s every move, it seemed like he really wasn’t doing anything besides living a life of debauchery.

"Perhaps that was just his outward disguise. Behind his playboy lifestyle lies his true ambition.

"We all thought he was just an ignorant hedonist, but in reality, who knows?"

He was part of the Faulkners, after all.

From Grandpa Faulkner down to Julian, both were incredibly business-minded. It was a bit strange for a fool to suddenly appear in such a brilliant family.

Was Felix playing the fool to catch his prey off guard?

Vivian pondered this but couldn’t be certain. Probably not entirely.

It was true that Felix had mismanaged his company in his early years and had been scammed by Annie. It was also true that all his ventures since returning to the country had ended in failure.

Felix might have some brains and ambition, but as for actual ability... Vivian believed he was definitely no match for Julian or Grandpa Faulkner in his prime.

"I believe in you!" Vivian said, before eagerly returning her attention to her video. "Oh wow, is this male lead really the reincarnation of the protagonist from the second story?

"This plot is so interesting! It’s just that I think I’m getting a little sleepy."

Vivian let out a yawn.

Beside her came Julian’s soft chuckle. "If you’re sleepy, go to sleep."

"Mhm..." Vivian murmured in agreement, putting down her phone and drifting off to sleep.

She slept quite soundly. When she woke up the next morning, it was just past six o’clock. Vivian groggily glanced at her phone and instantly became much more awake.

That was because she saw the note she had left for herself in her memos.

*Test again after waking up early!*

She had almost forgotten.

Looking at Julian, who was still half-asleep beside her, Vivian tiptoed over to open the drawer. Taking out another pregnancy test, she slipped into the bathroom.

This time, when Vivian came out with the test in hand, Julian was already waiting by the door.

What in the world?!

Vivian nearly jumped out of her skin. He had been fast asleep just a minute ago! How did he get up so quickly?!

"How did it go?" Julian evidently knew exactly why she had gone into the bathroom. He asked quickly, a hint of nervous tension in his voice.

Vivian showed him the test in her hand. It still only had one line.

"It probably really was just carsickness. We’re overthinking it. Including today, I’m five days late this month, which isn’t even a new record for me!

"Want to test again in a couple of days?"

Julian had no objections. Since they were already up, they might as well wash up.

In the blink of an eye, a few more days passed.

It happened to be a Saturday.

Vivian had worked overtime until ten o’clock the night before, finishing up all her work at the company just so she could give herself a somewhat complete weekend!

However...

She woke up bright and early on Saturday morning.

Glancing at her phone and realizing it was only a little past six, Vivian felt frustrated.

What was going on?

Normally, her biological clock was very reliable. She would naturally wake up early on weekdays, but never on weekends. Why was she awake today of all days?!

Vivian closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but found it impossible. When she rolled over to change positions, a sudden wave of nausea hit her chest. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

"Ugh."

As the familiar sensation washed over her, Vivian’s first reaction wasn’t discomfort, but sheer shock.

What was happening?

She nearly leaped out of bed, yanking open the drawer before rushing into the bathroom.

A few minutes later.

Staring at the two distinct lines on the stick, Vivian walked over to Julian and tugged on his sleeve. "This time, it’s certain. I’m pregnant."
