Landlord in the Arctic

Chapter 588: Chapter 391: Found
Based on analysis of meteorological satellite data, combined with the observatory’s assessment.
The situation had now become exceptionally difficult.
Johnson cursed inwardly.
’It would have been so much better if it had just gone to Russia. Those people aren’t afraid of the cold anyway.’
’Damn it, why did it have to get drawn in by the Canadian cyclone?’
What was once a manageable situation had instantly spiraled out of control.
The observatory had also explicitly stated that the destructive power of this polar vortex—which had split off and changed course to head south—would far exceed the polar vortex event of 2014.
At this thought, a blaze of fury surged through Director Johnson.
He shot a vicious glare at the staff member who was still standing there in a daze, looking as if his soul had left his body.
His eyes bulged with rage as he began to curse.
"Fuck! What are you still standing there gawking for?!"
Johnson’s voice, hoarse and shrill with fury, reverberated through the small duty office, making everyone’s eardrums ache.
"Issue a cold wave warning to every weather forecast station in the federation! Immediately! Right now! Make sure everyone knows this crisis is coming, so they’re not caught with their goddamn pants down!"
Johnson roared, swinging his thick arms.
It looked as if he was about to chop the very air in front of him in two.
"And issue a cold wave warning to the Federal Aviation Administration’s weather division! If those planes are still foolishly taking off and landing as usual, who’s going to take responsibility when something goes wrong? They need to reroute in advance! Ground whatever needs to be grounded, and do it now!"
"And get a cold wave warning out to the maritime administration’s weather department, too! If ships at sea don’t get a warning and run into gales and monstrous waves, they’ll be wrecked and their crews killed! This is not a damn game!"
Johnson grew more agitated as he spoke, his hands clenched so tightly into fists that his knuckles turned white.
"And every state weather bureau! Issue cold wave warnings! All of them! Get them moving! Don’t just stand around like fucking wooden posts! If this cold wave wreaks havoc on the public, we’re all going to be in for a world of hurt!"
"If you don’t want to be called useless pieces of shit, everyone get your asses back to work! As of right now, all leave is canceled! I don’t care if you’re giving birth—you do it at your damn desk!"
Johnson practically roared the last sentence.
His face was beet red, and the veins popping on his neck were a clear display of his towering rage.
The staff member, who had been sprayed in the face with spittle, flinched violently.
Without even daring to wipe his face, he turned and scrambled out of the duty office.
He stumbled as if drunk, wishing he could sprout a few more legs to escape the eye of the storm faster.
...
In the Tundra Wilderness, it was as if the apocalypse had arrived. The blizzard raged with increasing ferocity, threatening to devour the entire world.
The howling gales, thick with snow, charged like a crazed white beast, churning the world into a bone-chilling frost.
Visibility had plummeted to less than a meter.
Everything was shrouded in a vast, white mist.
To be caught within it was like being struck blind, unable to tell one direction from another.
The air itself felt thick with snow, as if completely and impenetrably occupied by it.
Feng Mountain was in dire straits. His hands gripped the ropes tightly, but he had already lost control of the sled.
He could only let the tigers drag them along, racing like mad through the snow.
The sled was a crude thing to begin with, hastily assembled and simply tied together.
At a slow pace, it had managed to hold up without any major incidents.
But now, with the situation desperate, they needed to reach the Bear Tribe’s camp as fast as possible.
The tigers were running at full tilt, and with the sudden increase in speed combined with the brutally low temperatures...
...the sled’s fragile structure began to shake violently. It let out a series of heart-wrenching creaks and groans, as if it might disintegrate into a pile of scrap wood at any moment.
However, Feng Mountain had no mind to spare for such things.
A life was on the line. Liu Lan was still at the camp, all alone, her fate unknown.
Every passing second was like a knife twisting in his heart.
The biting wind, carrying sheets of snow, felt like steel blades scraping against their skin.
Feng Mountain and Nash, sitting in the sled, were already covered in a thick layer of frost, turning them into human ice sculptures.
And yet, Feng Mountain seemed numb to it all. He couldn’t feel the slightest bit of cold; his heart was consumed by boundless anxiety and regret.
He cursed himself over and over.
’Why didn’t I store more Soul Power?’
’I had the power to protect everyone. But because I was greedy for a moment of comfort, it’s led to this disaster.’
The thought of Liu Lan’s pure, innocent smile...
...made Feng Mountain’s eyes redden.
He swore to himself that no matter the cost, he would find her. He absolutely could not let anything happen to her.
ROAR!!
A deep, powerful roar pierced the raging blizzard, echoing across the white expanse.
Almost simultaneously, the frantically speeding sled lurched to a halt. The powerful inertia sent it skidding sideways, out of control.
With that sudden jolt...
...the sled, which had been barely holding together under the dual assault of the blizzard and its high speed, finally gave way.
CRASH!
The sled’s components were torn apart as if by an invisible, giant hand.
Planks, ropes, and animal hides scattered across the ground, a chaotic mess against the white snow.
Caught completely off guard, Feng Mountain and Nash were violently thrown from the sled by the tremendous force.
They tumbled several times across the snow, their bodies as helpless and uncontrolled as kites with their strings cut.
Finally, they both plunged headfirst into a snowdrift over a meter deep. The thick snow buried them instantly, leaving only two irregular craters behind.
