Chapter 589: Chapter 391: Found (Part 2)

After a long moment, the sound of a struggle finally emerged from the snowdrift.

Khilla and Nash squirmed with all their might in the snow, their hands constantly digging, trying to break free from the cold drifts.

With great difficulty, they finally managed to poke their heads out and crawl laboriously from the snow pit.

The hard layer of ice that had originally coated the two men was now covered in another layer of fine, powdery snow.

Icicles also hung from their hair and eyebrows.

From a distance, they looked like two mobile snowmen, appearing both pathetic and somewhat comical in the icy landscape.

ROAR!!

Tyson’s low roar sounded again, a hint of urgency in his voice.

It strode slowly over, its massive body particularly conspicuous in the wind and snow.

Tyson used its hamburger-like head to gently nudge Khilla’s leg, a low whimper rumbling in its throat as if it were trying to say something.

"You found the Bear Tribe’s camp?"

Khilla froze for a second, a flash of delighted surprise in his eyes.

After a moment’s daze, he reacted immediately.

He quickly grabbed the rope around Tyson’s neck and said loudly, "Quick, take me to Liu Lan."

After speaking, Khilla quickly reached out, grabbed Nash’s arm, and held on tight.

Pulled along by Tyson, the two men involuntarily leaned forward, staggering as they trudged through the blizzard.

The fierce wind cut at their faces like a knife, and snowflakes continuously poured into their collars and cuffs.

But it was as if the two of them could no longer feel the cold, their hearts filled only with worry for Liu Lan and the firm conviction that they would find her.

The snow underfoot was deep, and even with the help of snowshoes, every step required immense effort.

Even so, neither of them flinched in the slightest, supporting each other as they advanced.

Step by step, pulled by Tyson, they left a string of deep and shallow footprints in the vast white world.

’This is the Bear Tribe’s camp?’

When Khilla, with Tyson’s help, finally arrived at this familiar yet alien place, his eyes were filled with bewildered shock as he muttered to himself.

The wall the Bear Tribe had built from cattle carcasses to ward off the blizzard had now vanished without a trace.

’Where’s the wall?’

Khilla’s voice trembled slightly with disbelief.

How long had it been? That wall had now become a massive snow mound four to five meters high.

The sight before him sent a wave of inexplicable panic through Khilla’s heart.

Just then, a group of agile figures appeared in his line of sight.

The Wolf Pack was gathered tightly in front of the snow mound, as if guarding something.

Seeing Khilla and Nash approach, the Prince and Princess immediately rushed out from the pack.

A hint of joy showed in their eyes as they ran, letting out a series of whimpers.

Telling their father everything that had happened.

But Khilla stood frozen before the snow mound, his eyes staring blankly at the massive drift, his mind empty.

The former camp was now nothing but a hillock covered in white snow.

The disappearance of the wall seemed to have taken with it the last shred of hope in his heart.

Khilla didn’t know if Liu Lan was still under this mound, nor if she was safe and sound.

Worry surged in his heart like a tide, making him feel as if he were suffocating.

In the instant Khilla was still dazed, Nash bolted like lightning and threw himself at the snow mound.

Without hesitation, he plunged his hands into the bone-chilling snow. He dug frantically, desperately clawing away the thick layers as if Liu Lan were just within reach—if only he could move a little faster, he could pull her out.

Soon, his hands were frozen red, his fingernails packed with slush.

But Nash didn’t seem to notice at all, single-mindedly focused on finding the camp under the snow, on finding Liu Lan.

Khilla was stunned for only a moment before he snapped back to his senses.

A determined glint flashed in his eyes. He quickly turned to Tyson and the Wolf Pack behind him and roared, "Quick, you all help dig! We have to find Liu Lan!"

Tyson let out a low growl, and his huge body was the first to charge forward, digging at the snow with his powerful front paws.

His sharp claws carved deep grooves in the snow, sending flakes flying everywhere.

The Wolf Pack, led by the Prince, also joined the digging party.

They darted around the mound, digging relentlessly with their muzzles and paws, letting out urgent, low growls.

For a moment, a tense and busy scene unfolded before the snow mound.

Khilla, Nash, Tyson, and the Wolf Pack were all racing against time, fighting against the cold.

They were driven by a single conviction.

To find Liu Lan as quickly as possible and rescue her from this frozen mound.

With every scoop of snow they dug away, a little more hope bloomed in their hearts.

Although the wind cut their cheeks like a knife and their hands were long since frozen numb...

...not one of them stopped. They just kept digging, and digging...

Just then, the Princess suddenly did something different.

She stopped focusing on digging and instead turned, ran to Khilla’s side, and bit down on his pant leg.

Her eyes revealed a sense of urgency, and she made whining sounds.

At the same time, she tugged her father backward forcefully, as if trying to convey some important information.

She wanted to lead her father somewhere.

"You know where Liu Lan is?" Stunned by the Princess’s actions, Khilla wiped the wind-blown snow from his face. A flicker of surprised joy crossed his eyes as he hurriedly asked.

His voice trembled slightly with excitement, as if he were grasping at his last straw of hope.

WHINE!!

The Princess understood her father’s words. She nodded vigorously, then let go of his pant leg.

Immediately after, she spun around and sprinted toward another side of the snow mound.

She kept looking back as she ran, as if urging her father to hurry up and follow.

Seeing the Princess’s reaction, hope surged in Khilla’s heart, and he lifted his leg to run after her.

But just then, he glanced back at Nash, who was still digging desperately like a madman.

Icicles hung from Nash’s hair and eyebrows, and his body was covered in a thick layer of snow, yet he continued to dig furiously, as if tireless.

Khilla’s heart tightened. He walked over, kicked Nash, and shouted.

"Stop digging! We’ve found Liu Lan!"

Hearing Khilla’s shout, Nash’s body stiffened abruptly, and his hands stopped moving.

He slowly raised his head, his eyes full of doubt, looking at Khilla as if to confirm whether what he said was true.

Only when he saw Khilla’s determined gaze and the Princess’s retreating figure did he snap out of it as if waking from a dream. He quickly stood up and, without bothering to brush the snow off himself, followed Khilla in the direction the Princess had run.

On the other side of the mound, directly facing the howling gale, the snow was slightly thinner than elsewhere, perhaps due to the wind.

After sprinting all the way here, the Princess quickly lay down on a patch of snow, her eyes revealing her urgency.

Her paws dug rapidly at the snow, sending flakes flying. In no time, she had dug a small pit.

The two men quickly ran over.

Frantic with worry, Khilla pushed the digging Princess aside, dropped to his knees in the snow, and began digging madly with his hands.

With every handful of snow he dug, his hope grew.

Soon, as the surface layer of loose snow was cleared away, a wooden stick appeared in the pit.

The stick looked a bit out of place, standing vertically in the snow pit as if hiding some secret.

’What’s this?’

Khilla couldn’t help but hesitate for a moment, his eyes filled with confusion.

He stared intently at the stick, an inexplicable premonition rising in his heart.

He reached out and gently tugged on the stick, trying to pull it out of the snow.

But in the next moment, Khilla clearly felt a slight pull from the other end of the stick.

It felt as if someone on the other end was pulling back.

Khilla’s heart leaped, and a thought instantly flashed through his mind.

’Could it be...’

’...Liu Lan is down there?’

Instantly, an indescribable joy flooded his heart.

Khilla turned to the still-dazed Nash beside him and yelled, "We’ve found Liu Lan! She’s down here! She’s alive!"

Hearing Khilla say that Liu Lan was down below and still alive, Nash was so overcome with emotion he nearly lost his mind.

Digging with gloves was too slow; he couldn’t wait. So he ripped off his gloves and started digging with his bare hands.

His hands moved rapidly through the icy snow.

In no time, they were frozen red, but it was as if Nash couldn’t feel the pain, focused only on digging.

"Are you crazy!" Seeing Nash’s frantic actions, Khilla was both anxious and angry. He roared.

’Not wearing gloves in this temperature? Does he have a death wish?!’

Khilla strode forward and shoved Nash away forcefully.

Nash stumbled from the push, nearly falling to the ground. He staggered back to his feet and raised his bright red, frozen hands, wanting to continue digging.
