Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 620 - 406: The Company (2)
Those past memories flooded his mind like a rising tide, filling Feng Mountain with a myriad of emotions.
Just as Feng Mountain was lost in the memories stirred up by the promotional photos, the travel agency's automatic glass doors slid open silently.
A young woman in a uniform skirt stepped out, her movements light and graceful.
An enthusiastic smile graced her face, like a flower blooming in spring, giving off a warm and friendly feeling.
The young woman walked straight up to Feng Mountain and spoke politely, "Hello, sir. I see you're quite interested in our company's promotional posters. Would you like to come inside for a cup of tea? We're the only company in the country that specializes in tourism to Alaska. In fact, our boss owns a huge plot of land there, and he took all these photos himself."
Feng Mountain raised an eyebrow, looking at her with amusement. He then put on the air of a customer, his face a mask of surprise as he pointed to a photo of a brown bear hunt. "This looks pretty amazing. Can you really hunt bears?"
A flicker of pride shone in the young woman's eyes as she answered with complete confidence, "Of course. Our boss hunted this brown bear himself. I heard it was a man-eater, even. To get it, our boss chased it through the snow and ice for seven days and seven nights. Hunting wild animals is illegal here, of course, but there are no such restrictions in Alaska."
After she spoke, she glanced around as if afraid of being overheard, then lowered her voice and said conspiratorially, "These are just some of the promotional photos. We have detailed videos, too. You can watch them while you enjoy a cup of tea."
Feng Mountain chuckled inwardly at her words.
'Seven days and seven nights? I flew my plane to Kevik Camp. She's really laying it on thick.'
On the outside, however, he simply maintained his smile and nodded, indicating that he was willing to go inside with her.
Seeing Feng Mountain agree, the young woman's smile grew even brighter. She turned sideways and gestured for him to enter.
Then she led Feng Mountain through the travel agency's entrance.
Soon, the two of them arrived in a reception room.
Inside, spacious, comfortable seats were arranged in neat rows. A projector screen hung on the front wall, giving the room a professional air.
The young woman smiled sweetly, picked up a nearby remote, and gently pressed a button.
A promotional video for Crown Territory appeared on the screen.
Soothing music began to play.
The video opened with a beautiful, mysterious aurora dancing brilliantly across the night sky. Ribbons of green and purple light intertwined, creating a dreamlike, almost illusory, scene.
The young woman began her narration at the perfect moment. "This is the starting point of the tour: Crown River Beach Camp. We have endless snowy mountains and a vast mossy wilderness. You can stay in a log cabin, watch the aurora, and soak in the hot springs all at once."
"Oh, and the Crown Territory hot springs are the second-largest natural hot springs in Alaska. They're rich in minerals, so they have great health benefits."
As she spoke, the camera panned to show the River Beach Camp.
Under the warm yellow glow of the lights, a cluster of small log cabins was scattered in a picturesque arrangement. Soft light spilled onto the stone paths, creating a cozy and serene atmosphere.
The young woman continued her explanation. "Crown River Beach Camp is built within a glacial valley. We provide everything you need for your stay—food, lodging, the works. You can choose to stay in one of these small log cabins, which can accommodate a family of three. You can cook your own meals for a bit of fun, or you can head to the camp restaurant to taste authentic Alaskan-style food."
She paused for a moment, her eyes sparkling, and continued, "If you'd like to explore the wilderness, the camp can provide professional guides and a variety of specialized vehicles. If you're looking for the thrill of the hunt, we also provide hunting rifles and experienced guides. Of course, if you want to bring your trophy back home with you, that requires an additional fee."
Feng Mountain listened intently, nodding in satisfaction before asking a question.
"I'd like to go out on a boat and experience catching Emperor Crabs. Is that possible?"
The young woman's eyes lit up, and her smile widened. "Absolutely!" she said quickly. "That's a brand-new tour package we've just created. No one else in the country offers it. Since you'd only be going to experience the catch, it requires helicopter transport and the purchase of an accident insurance policy, so the cost is a little higher."
She watched Feng Mountain's expression as she spoke, eagerly awaiting his response.
"I—" Just as Feng Mountain was about to ask the young woman for more details about the tour packages, his phone rang.
Suddenly, a phone's ringtone sounded.
Slightly taken aback, Feng Mountain pulled out his phone and saw 'Brother Kai' on the screen.
With a flicker of amusement, he answered the call.
Instantly, Brother Kai's loud, booming voice came through the phone clearly.
"Younger Brother Feng, weren't you coming to the office today? Where are you? Did you get lost? I can send a driver to pick you up."
The voice from the phone echoed through the reception room, sounding exceptionally loud.
The professional smile on the young woman's face faltered. She tilted her head slightly, a flicker of confusion crossing her brow.
She was secretly bewildered. 'How is it that the voice coming from this client's phone sounds just like...'
Feng Mountain seemed to sense her confusion. He gave her a wink, a playful smile touching his lips, and said casually into the phone, "I'm in the reception room right now, listening to a presentation!"
"What? You're in the reception room?" Brother Kai was clearly surprised on the other end of the line. The words had barely left his mouth when the glass door to the room was pushed open with a CREAK.
Zhang Kai strode in, still holding his phone, a look of astonishment on his face.
He immediately spotted Feng Mountain sitting on the sofa, watching him with a sly grin.
"You punk," Zhang Kai said, shaking his head with a helpless laugh. "Don't you have anything better to do than tease the staff? Are you that bored?" Despite his words, his eyes held a familiar fondness.
Then, he turned to the still-dazed young woman. "Li Qian," he said, "this is the company's owner, Feng Mountain. Weren't you always saying you wanted to meet the 'real man' from the video? Well, wish granted!"
Li Qian, still reeling from the surprise, heard Zhang Kai's words and stared wide-eyed at Feng Mountain on the sofa in disbelief.
Her face instantly flushed red as a ripe apple.
Flustered, she quickly gave a slight bow and stammered, "President Feng, I'm so sorry, I..."
Before she could finish, Feng Mountain waved a dismissive hand, a gentle smile on his face. "Your presentation was great. I was very impressed."
His voice was low and steady, which helped to ease some of Li Qian's nervousness.
"Alright, stop teasing the poor girl. Let's go to your office for tea," Zhang Kai said, stepping forward to pat Feng Mountain on the shoulder before turning to leave the room.
At the doorway, he seemed to remember something and paused. "Li Qian, give Vice President Ouyang a call. Tell him President Feng has arrived at the office."
Li Qian quickly replied, "Yes, President Zhang." Her voice was still trembling slightly.
Watching the two of them walk away, she was filled with a mix of emotions: the shock of meeting her boss, the embarrassment of mistaking him for a customer, and the joy of hearing her presentation was well-received.
Li Qian took a deep breath to compose herself, then turned aside to call Vice President Ouyang.
Meanwhile, Feng Mountain and Zhang Kai walked side by side toward the office.
They chatted and laughed along the way, the atmosphere light and friendly.
The travel agency took up half a floor and was extremely spacious. However, there were fewer employees than one might expect, making the office feel a little empty.
The walls of the hallways and various office areas were covered with promotional photos of Alaska.
The magnificent landscapes of snow and ice, the endearing wildlife, and the exotic Indigenous towns all seemed to speak of Alaska's unique allure.
Pushing open a frosted glass door, Feng Mountain followed Zhang Kai into a spacious, well-lit office.
The room's minimalist decor was dominated by shades of gray and white, accented with lines of dark walnut. In a corner, a few large monstera plants stretched out their dark green leaves, adding a touch of natural vitality to the space.
An entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows shut out the noise of the city below, offering a sweeping view of the bustling Binhai City.
Directly opposite the door, a massive, solid-wood desk served as the room's centerpiece, with an imposing leather executive chair set behind it.
On the wall behind the chair hung an enormous photograph of the Alaskan aurora.
