Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 696: Declaration (Part 2)
In the blink of an eye, Tyson was a black whirlwind, bursting from the darkness with the Tiger Pack in tow.
Following them was the herd of horses led by Ashes. They galloped forth, their hooves thundering like drumbeats.
Every horse was powerfully built, their manes flying in the night wind.
As for the dark shadow in the night sky, that was undoubtedly Loki.
The moment he saw Feng Mountain, Tyson let out a low growl of longing, his voice filled with the joy and excitement of their reunion.
His massive body shoved aside Feng Jun, who was standing beside Dad. Then, he eagerly buried his big head in his arms, just like a child who hadn’t seen his father in a long time.
Good grief!
‘It’s only been a few days, and this guy has gotten fatter!’
Feng Mountain strained with both arms, barely managing to wrap them around Tyson.
Luckily, Tyson only leaned in affectionately instead of pouncing on him.
‘Otherwise, with his size, he would have knocked me right to the ground.’
Coca-Cola, who had been dozing in Tammy’s arms, perked up instantly upon seeing his underlings. He wriggled free from Tammy’s embrace and, in a few leaps, landed on Tyson’s back.
WHIRRR!!
Loki beat his wings, descending with a gentle breeze to land on Feng Mountain’s shoulder.
He tilted his head, gently rubbing his beak against Feng Mountain’s cheek.
Then, perfectly mimicking Erica’s voice, he spoke with utter affection.
“Dad, Loki misses you!”
The imitation was so perfect it was as if Erica herself were right there, whispering sweet nothings.
Before Feng Mountain could respond, Erica, standing nearby, flushed crimson, her face as red as a ripe tomato.
It was hard to tell if it was from shyness or anger at Loki.
Her eyes went wide with mortification as she raised a hand and shouted.
“Loki, you bastard! Don’t you dare say such cringey things in my voice!”
However, in the camp, the one person Loki feared the least was Erica.
In fact, he loved seeing her lose her cool.
Loki tilted his head again, his two black eyes staring at Erica.
Seeing that Dad didn’t scold him, Loki seemed to take it as encouragement. He grew even bolder and continued to mimic her at the top of his lungs.
“Demi, my love, yes, I’m almost there!”
Erica and Demi’s intimate relationship was an open secret among everyone in the camp.
Everyone was respectful and accepting; no one discriminated against them for it.
But now, Loki had not only eavesdropped on their sweet, private moment but was also blurting it out for all to hear.
Considering the couple’s feelings, everyone tried their best to stifle their laughter.
But the unconscious smiles twitching at the corners of their mouths betrayed them.
People quickly looked down, pretending to adjust their clothes or averting their gazes, trying to hide their expressions.
“AHH!! Shut up, you stupid bird!”
Mortified and furious, Erica bent down in a frenzy, grabbed a handful of snow, and hurled it at Loki. Then, like an enraged little beast, she lunged for him.
But Loki, unhurried, simply flew up into the air, deliberately staying at a low altitude.
He gave Erica the illusion that she could catch him.
Then he bobbed up and down in the air, letting out a few cheerful cries from time to time, enjoying the game of chase. He infuriated Erica so much her face was beet-red, and a stream of curses poured from her lips.
The other party involved, Demi, seemed quite calm, with an unconcerned air about her.
A faint smile played on her lips, and her eyes showed a placid composure, as if all this had nothing to do with her.
Because just this morning, Erica had made a decision: in a little while, she was going to marry her right here in the camp.
At this thought, Demi’s heart filled with sweetness and anticipation, and the corners of her mouth curved up unconsciously.
Because this very morning, Erica had decided with her that they would hold their wedding right here at the camp.
This little incident, in Demi’s eyes, was nothing more than a bit of fun in their lives.
“Get lost! Get down here!”
“Don’t let me catch you, or I’ll pluck all your feathers out!”
“If you’ve got the guts, stop flying! Paine, give me your gun!”
Erica shouted and cursed as she chased Loki.
Her voice, full of anger and helplessness, echoed in the night sky.
Just as Erica and Loki were fooling around, a low thudding of hooves came from the distance, like rapid raindrops striking the ground.
The sound grew closer and closer.
In the blink of an eye, Ashes was before Feng Mountain.
Arriving in front of Feng Mountain, Ashes deliberately ignored Tyson, raised a hoof the size of a bowl, and stomped it down hard, kicking up a spray of snow.
Tyson nimbly dodged to the side, a low growl rumbling in his throat, warning Ashes not to make any rash moves.
“Alright, you’re looking for trouble the moment you see him. Did Tyson do something to you?” Feng Mountain said, giving Ashes a light smack on the head with a slightly reproachful tone.
Ashes snorted, as if accusing Feng Mountain of favoritism.
He shook his head, his long mane flying through the air, expressing his dissatisfaction.
“Come on, take me for a ride around the Mossy Tundra!”
Feng Mountain paid no mind to Ashes’s pouting, deftly swinging himself onto the horse’s back.
He looked at Jenny with a gentle gaze. In front of everyone, he openly reached out his hand to her, his voice full of tenderness as he said,
“Darling, come up!”
Everyone witnessed this scene.
All eyes instantly focused on them, their gazes filled with either blessings or envy.
These words from the boss were undoubtedly a declaration to everyone of Jenny’s future status and position in the camp.
At the same time, a trace of disappointment flickered in the eyes of Erica, Tammy, and Maria.
Their smiles were a bit forced, and an imperceptible sadness was hidden in the depths of their eyes.
But they still chose to offer their generous blessings, urging Jenny to go forward.
A shy blush appeared on Jenny’s face, as gentle and enchanting as the evening clouds at sunset.
She slowly walked forward and gently placed her hand in Feng Mountain’s outstretched palm.
Her eyes showed a mixture of nervousness and anticipation, her fingers trembling slightly.
With a gentle tug, Feng Mountain pulled Jenny securely into his embrace.
Sitting on the horse, he smiled and nodded at the crowd. “I’m going for a ride. You all go back and get the party ready!”
With that, he gently nudged the horse’s flank with his heels.
Receiving the command, Ashes immediately lifted its hooves and shot off like an arrow from a bow.
Its hooves pounded the mossy ground, kicking up bits of vegetation.
Feng Mountain and Jenny rose and fell with the jostling rhythm on horseback, their figures gradually receding into the night.
Leaving only the sound of low, thudding hooves echoing in the silent night sky.
Seeing their leader take off, the rest of the herd immediately followed, their hooves suddenly thundering like a storm.
Not to be outdone, Tyson broke into a run and followed, his agile form like a black bolt of lightning in the night.
Leaving only Loki to continue toying with Erica.
He weaved nimbly through the air, sometimes soaring high, sometimes swooping low, teasing Erica until she was jumping and cursing relentlessly, completely unable to do anything about him. The onlookers couldn’t help but let out bursts of laughter.
Thanks to the continuous supply of Soul Power from the River Beach, the Fire Seed had finally returned to its former state.
Its light once again shone upon the River Beach’s Mossy Tundra, which had been devastated by the cold snap.
Entering the Mossy Tundra was like stepping into another dimension; the temperature returned to what it was before the cold snap.
The night sky was like a vast bolt of black silk, gently blanketing the revitalized Tundra.
Feng Mountain sat steadily on horseback, his arm wrapped naturally around Jenny’s full waist. His body heat seeped through their clothes, warming her back.
Jenny trembled slightly, then relaxed, leaning her head gently against Feng Mountain’s chest.
The cool night wind, carrying the unique, fresh scent of moss, whistled past their ears.
Although the wind carried a chill, it was no match for the warmth passing between their tightly pressed bodies.
That warmth was like a flame.
Burning in the cold night air, warming each other’s hearts.
“Hold on tight!” Feng Mountain’s voice sounded by Jenny’s ear, low and powerful, carrying a reassuring strength.
Ashes felt his master give a light tap to his flank.
It was the signal to accelerate.
He immediately let out a low whinny, his voice full of excitement and spirit.
The mane on his neck stood on end in the rushing wind like a banner, resembling a warrior’s standard on his way to battle.
The frequency of his four hooves’ bounding leaps suddenly increased. His hooves struck the Mossy Tundra violently, kicking up fine bits of moss like scattering sparks.
The two riders and their horse became a shooting star.
They charged deep into the vibrant Tundra with the speed of lightning.
Disappearing into the mysterious and enchanting night.
Leaving behind only the sound of the wind, the hooves, and their interwoven heartbeats.
