Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 725 - 459: Encouragement
Chapter 725: Chapter 459: Encouragement
He watched as Prince, surrounded by the Wolf Pack, dragged the log toward the loading point.
"Now that’s more like an Alpha Wolf." Feng Mountain watched Prince’s retreating figure, a satisfied smile touching his lips. He turned to Nash beside him and asked, "What do you think? My eldest son isn’t half bad, is he?"
"!!!" Nash was speechless.
A long time later, Prince returned from delivering the log.
His steps were already unsteady, and each one seemed to take the last of his strength.
He was panting raggedly, his chest heaving violently. Each hot breath he exhaled instantly turned into a cloud of white mist in the frigid air.
Sweat drenched his fur, freezing into a thin layer of frost in the biting wind.
Princess followed close by Prince’s side.
Her eyes were filled with heartache. She would occasionally nudge Prince’s body gently with her head, a low whimper rumbling in her throat.
Feng Mountain hurried forward and crouched down, a paternal smile spreading across his face.
He gently opened his arms and embraced the exhausted Prince.
Then, Feng Mountain began to speak in a grave and earnest tone, carefully instructing him.
"Now you understand. The Wolf Pack isn’t your playground. As the Alpha Wolf, you must lead them to live on the Tundra, not hide away in the forest for pleasure. You must face the harsh environment and confront danger head-on. You carry the future of the entire White Wolf Family on your shoulders. Only by bravely facing every hardship and obstacle can the White Wolf Family survive and thrive on this Tundra."
Prince listened, seeming to only half-understand, but a light shimmered in his blue eyes.
Meanwhile, Princess nestled quietly to the side, watching over Prince and keeping him company.
’In truth, Feng Mountain had wanted to tell Prince these things for a long time.’
’Relying on me for protection, he just lazed about in the Moonlight Forest all day, doing nothing but bullying the other animals that were trying to escape the bitter cold.’
’It would be one thing if he were the only one wallowing in comfort.’
’But he was dragging the entire Wolf Pack into complacency with him, showing none of the awareness an Alpha Wolf should possess.’
’Look at the state of the Wolf Pack now.’
’Every last one of them was plump and well-fed. Beneath their fluffy fur, you could see their fat jiggle.’
’It wouldn’t be a problem if they were being raised plump and fat in a zoo.’
’But this is the Far North Tundra—a savage, desolate land forgotten by God.’
’A real Wolf Pack...’
’Right now, they should be facing the bone-chilling wind, racing for miles across the vast Tundra, fighting tenaciously against nature itself just to survive.’
’Instead, the White Wolf Pack, led by Prince, was holed up in the so-called sanctuary that I had built for them.’
’They spent their days in idle comfort.’
’They were forgetting how to stand their ground in a Blizzard, how to forage for food in the ice and snow, and how to protect their pack on the treacherous Tundra.’
Feng Mountain also hoped this lesson would make Prince understand the responsibilities and duties of an Alpha Wolf, leading the Wolf Pack down their true path of survival and forging the legend of the White Wolf Family on the Tundra.
WHIMPER! WHIMPER!
Prince hung his head, letting out a pitiful whimper like a child being scolded for misbehaving.
"It’s good that you know you were wrong."
Feng Mountain said softly, his left hand, hidden beneath Prince’s fur, secretly casting the Witchcraft Strengthening Spell.
A flicker of barely-there Soul Power flashed and flowed into Prince’s body.
Prince seemed to sense something. He slowly raised his head, surprise flashing in his weary eyes.
’He could clearly feel it—the body that had been exhausted from pulling the log was now recovering its strength at an astonishing rate. A warm current flowed through him, nourishing every muscle and bone.’
"Go on," Feng Mountain said, his voice full of encouragement and hope as he reached out to gently pat Prince’s head. "Take the Wolf Pack and venture out onto the Tundra. They are wolves, not dogs. They don’t belong in the Moonlight Forest!"
Prince reluctantly left his father’s warm embrace and took a few steps back.
He tilted his head, seriously pondering his father’s words as a determined light glinted in his eyes.
Suddenly, as if he’d made a decision, he turned and let out a rousing howl to the Wolf Pack.
The howl pierced the frigid air, echoing all around.
The Wolf Pack stirred instantly. The once-scattered wolves, as if answering some sacred call, rallied around Prince, their spirits high and their eyes gleaming with excitement.
Prince stood before the Wolf Pack and turned to glance at his father.
He shook his head a few times, as if bidding his father a final farewell while also psyching himself up for what was to come.
Then, without a backward glance, he sprinted toward the Tundra, his form radiating resolve and courage.
Princess followed close behind without hesitation, matching Prince’s every step.
The wolves followed their leader in an orderly line. More than twenty figures stretched across the white snow like a long column, a Sharp Blade slicing through the silent land.
As they ran, they kicked up flurries of snow that glittered like crystals against the white landscape.
As he watched the distant, retreating figures of Prince and Princess, a complex emotion welled up inside Feng Mountain.
’It felt strangely like watching his own child leave home for a long journey.’
’It was a bittersweet feeling, a mix of pride and reluctance to let go.’
’His eyes inexplicably grew moist, blurring his vision.’
’If he called out to them right now, Prince and Princess would definitely turn back without a moment’s hesitation.’
’But he couldn’t do that.’
’Children have to learn to stand on their own two feet eventually. They have to face the trials and tribulations of this world.’
’As the Alpha Wolf, Prince shouldered the heavy responsibility of leading the White Wolf Family to survive on the Tundra.’
’This was a journey he had to experience.’
And so, he watched until the Wolf Pack had nearly vanished over the horizon.
In the end, Feng Mountain couldn’t suppress his concern.
He quickly cupped his hands around his mouth and, facing the direction Prince had gone, shouted with all his might.
"Remember to come home when you can! Run if you’re in danger! And stay away from places with people!"
