No!

We don’t like it.

In the crowd, Liu Lan, Fiona, Lotti, and the other children from the Bear Tribe showed no sign of happiness. Instead, they drooped their heads, staring dejectedly at the new classroom.

Going to school meant losing their freedom.

It meant they couldn’t play whenever they wanted anymore.

“Old Tom will deliver the textbooks and desks you need tomorrow.” Feng Shan was also very pleased with the new classroom. Remembering the text message from Old Tom, he quickly relayed the news to Lucy.

Just then, Paine shot his hand up and asked enthusiastically.

“Boss, now that the Crown Territory has a school, shouldn’t we throw a party to celebrate?”

The suggestion instantly changed the atmosphere.

All eyes turned to Feng Shan, everyone seeming to await his response.

Everyone was dead tired from building the classroom for the past two days.

Feng Shan, of course, understood how hard they had worked and didn’t have the heart to spoil their fun, so he nodded and said.

“Of course!”

The moment those two words left his mouth, the atmosphere ignited.

Everyone erupted in excitement, throwing their hands in the air and jumping for joy, shouting, “Party! Party!”

“We’re the ones going to school, so what are they so happy about?” Liu Lan grumbled, puffing out her cheeks as she glared at the celebrating adults with a mix of confusion and annoyance.

Fiona leaned into Liu Lan’s ear and whispered conspiratorially, “Ethel said that once spring arrives, adults are just animals that want to mate. Parties are full of hormones that drive people crazy.”

She finished with a very serious, knowing nod.

“What are hormones?” Liu Lan asked, blinking her big eyes curiously.

Fiona’s interest was instantly piqued. She quickly leaned toward Liu Lan’s ear again and lowered her voice. “It’s something that makes you feel really, really good. I heard…”

Lotti, getting a headache just watching the two of them, quickly stepped in to stop their outlandish conversation.

Her brows furrowed slightly, a hint of worry in her eyes.

“Fiona, your father told you not to watch Crushberry Park anymore.”

Fiona sighed helplessly. Mimicking an adult, she spread her hands, shook her head with an air of worldly wisdom, and said, “Oh my God, Lady Lotti, you’re acting just like Yves right now.”

Just then, the three children completely failed to notice a black shadow in the moss beside them. It edged closer, craning its little head with a furtive air.

A moment later, the black shadow flapped its wings and flew up, circling over the crowd’s heads.

Its wings beat rapidly, stirring up a gentle breeze and making a crisp FLAP-FLAP-FLAP sound.

As it flew, it screeched loudly.

“Ethel said parties are full of crazy hormones! Crazy hormones! Crazy hormones!”

The crowd, in the midst of celebrating the upcoming party, was suddenly startled by the voice and looked up at the uninvited guest.

They saw Loki circling overhead, perfectly mimicking Fiona’s voice.

It was spouting some baffling phrases, but on closer listening, the content sounded a little… inappropriate.

Yves’s face instantly turned as black as a soot-stained fireplace brick.

A flash of rage surged through him, and barely suppressing his fury, he bellowed.

“FIONA!”

At the sound of his roar, Fiona flinched and her face instantly went deathly pale.

She shot a hasty, not-so-friendly gesture at Loki in the air.

Then, like a frightened little rabbit, she grabbed Liu Lan and dove into the crowd, vanishing without a trace in the blink of an eye.

She left behind a group of adults who were trying their best not to laugh.

And Loki, of course, who was still circling and squawking overhead.

…

The next day, a light mist settled gently over the camp.

Jenny usually liked to sleep in. Feng Shan, on the other hand, had worked himself to exhaustion the day before and passed out the moment he hit the bed.

For once, Jenny was up early and even joined Feng Shan for his morning workout.

The two jogged slowly around the camp’s perimeter, the crisp, cool air invigorating their senses. In the tranquil quiet, they spoke in low voices, savoring the rare and peaceful moment together.

After their morning workout and breakfast, the men threw themselves into the next construction project without a moment’s rest.

The task was to build another wooden cabin, and the process was much the same as the day before.

However, this cabin was smaller than the classroom they had built yesterday.

As a result, the workload was cut in half.

Selecting logs, digging the foundation, raising the walls, and building the roof—each step was carried out methodically.

By early afternoon, a small, standalone cabin had appeared next to the warehouse.

Although the cabin wasn’t large—only a little over twenty square meters inside—the space was used efficiently, divided into two offices and a meeting room.

The offices were furnished with simple tables and chairs.

Light streamed through the windows, casting shifting patterns of shadow on the floor.

The moment the office was completed, Tessa, the serious and diligent private financial advisor, immediately found Feng Shan.

With a stern expression, she demanded that Feng Shan keep regular office hours every day and stop lazing around the camp like he used to.

‘Lazing around?’

Hearing this, Feng Shan felt such a surge of bitterness and sorrow that he almost cried.

‘Haven’t I just shot myself in the foot?’

However, all the other employees in the camp were wholeheartedly in favor of the idea.

Their boss was usually nowhere to be found, disappearing for the entire day.

When emergencies arose, they would have to search all over for him, with no idea who to report to or what to do.

But now, that was all about to change!

With the boss permanently stationed in the office, they would no longer have to run around like headless chickens whenever something came up.

For this reason alone, Tessa, the new private financial advisor, instantly won everyone’s goodwill.

Next, Feng Shan stood before the brand-new office, cleared his throat, and made a second major announcement.

“The Crown Territory Community Service Company is now officially open for business! All employees are welcome to join voluntarily. Once you’re a member, in addition to federally mandated insurance, the company will also provide various types of supplementary commercial insurance.”

This news was like a boulder dropped into a calm lake, sending ripples of shock and excitement through the crowd.

The crowd immediately erupted. Employees huddled together, whispering excitedly, their delight palpable.

Having insurance meant having future stability.

For them, this was an incredible comfort, a guarantee for the future.

Everyone understood. It wasn’t that Crown Territory was a bad place; it was just that no one could guarantee they would be able to stay here forever.

Life was full of uncertainties, and the future was impossible to predict.

Even if they had to leave Crown Territory one day, this insurance would provide a safety net, ensuring they wouldn’t be left in a desperate situation.

Everyone crowded around Feng Shan, eagerly asking for the specifics of joining the service company.

Seeing the high spirits and excitement of his employees, a gratified smile spread across Feng Shan’s face. He raised a hand, gestured to Tessa beside him, and raised his voice to be heard.

“Everyone, this incredible, meaningful plan was meticulously crafted by none other than Ms. Tessa herself! Now, let’s give her the loudest round of applause to show our thanks!”

In an instant, cheers erupted. The employees clapped enthusiastically and shouted her name.

“Tessa!”

“Way to go, Tessa!”

“Tessa!”

In just a few moments, Tessa’s status in the camp skyrocketed.

She had jumped straight to the number three spot, right behind the boss, Feng Shan, and Jenny.

“Alright, alright, back to work, everyone. I’ll have you all register your personal information later. Just thinking about all of you taking more Franklins out of my pocket… oh, the pain!”

Feng Shan clutched his chest, putting on an exaggerated look of agony.

Hearing their boss’s lament, the crowd couldn’t help but burst into laughter, their spirits exceptionally high.

Then, in twos and threes, they headed back to work, a new spring in their step.

Just as the crowd began to disperse and the camp was settling back into its daily rhythm, the roar of helicopter propellers echoed through the sky, growing steadily louder.

Feng Shan, who had been hoping to sneak away and invite Jenny for a horse ride on the Mossy Tundra, deflated at the sound. It looked like his wonderful plan was ruined.

He pouted, glanced at Tessa beside him, and shrugged, saying with a hint of teasing in his voice.

“Wanna make a game of it? One US Dollar. Guess who’s here.”

Tessa, looking serious and with no interest in playing games, stated a single name: “Gordon!”

With that, she turned and walked into the office.

“No fun at all,” Feng Shan muttered under his breath, shaking his head.
