Chapter 2179: Chapter 2179: Mr. Zombie (The End)

The lab has made new progress; some zombies are indeed recovering, but no matter how they research, there’s always a threshold they can’t overcome.

After all, the recovering zombies are only a few; ninety-nine percent of the zombies remain the same.

So, no matter what technical challenges they face, they have to overcome them, as so many people are waiting for their rescue.

In the blink of an eye, a few years have passed. The number of zombies on one side of the city wall keeps increasing, while humans reclaim their homeland, gradually restoring the cities.

The plants on that side grow rapidly, almost blocking out the sun with their lush greenery, enveloping the city in green.

What were once ordinary little grasses can now grow half as tall as a person.

All the plants seem to have become plants of a giant’s country.

Humans become tiny amidst those plants.

The good thing is that there is plenty of food to eat.

After all, the rice now grows as tall as fruit trees, with grains so big it takes people working together to lift them, and a single rice grain is as large as a corn cob.

Other than being big, the taste of the food hasn’t changed much, it’s all edible.

Chuzheng has ’trained’ a batch of zombies to manage other zombies and take them to different cities.

On the other side, it’s still barren with the same virus pollution, yet nothing grows there.

The city wall is a clear dividing line, like the Chu River and Han Border, with completely different scenery on each side.

Chuzheng is the type who won’t move a muscle unless trouble comes looking for her.

So she doesn’t bother with these things at all.

At this moment, she is lying on the balcony, sunbathing, with vines entwining around her. The flowers, larger than a washbasin, layer upon layer of petals, are quite beautiful.

Chuzheng glances at the main storyline progress, the progress over the years has been substantial, and just a few days ago, they finally completed the last bit.

The Zombie King is not to become their king but to arrange things for them properly.

Chuzheng feels that this is not the Zombie King but the Zombie Nanny.

Bei Chi came out with his pot of flowers, placing it beside Chuzheng. He turned his head and said to Chuzheng, "I’m hungry."

"If you’re hungry, then eat."

"I want you to accompany me."

Chuzheng lowered her hand that was shading her forehead, "Are you a child?" Someone at his age still needs her company to eat.

"I just want to." Bei Chi is very stubborn.

"..."

Even though he has the intelligence of a teenager, how... Could it be adolescent rebellion?

Chuzheng pondered for a moment, thinking it highly likely.

She quickly sat up, "Are you in your rebellious phase?"

Bei Chi blinked, looking quite innocent, "I don’t have a rebellious phase."

"Then why do you insist on me accompanying you? Can you eat two more bowls?" Chuzheng suspiciously looked at him.

Before, he always went to eat by himself when he was hungry.

Recently he insists she accompany him; if she doesn’t, it’s not okay. Isn’t this a rebellious phase?

Bei Chi nodded seriously, "Yes!"

"Alright!" Chuzheng got up, pulled him into her arms, and hugged him, "Let’s go." If you don’t eat two bowls today, I’ll make you.

-

The meals are always prepared by Xiaoyu, but it’s not mealtime yet, so Xiaoyu hasn’t started cooking.

Chuzheng and Bei Chi went, and Xiaoyu hurriedly started cooking, delivering the food as fast as possible.

Bei Chi is accustomed to these foods by now, and eats without much discomfort, burying his head in the meal.

Chuzheng propped her chin while watching him. As Bei Chi was eating, he suddenly reached under the table to hook her finger.

Chuzheng turned her head to glance under the table, then slowly clasped his hand back.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Bei Chi suddenly began coughing, whether from being choked or something else.

"Eat slowly, no one’s going to take it from you."

Bei Chi coughed for a while and then looked up with slightly red eyes, "Spicy..."

Chuzheng was momentarily stunned; he couldn’t taste anything before—does this mean he’s recovering?

The thought passed, and Chuzheng returned to her usual self quickly, "Really? Then don’t eat this dish."

Bei Chi blew air, apparently it really was spicy.

Chuzheng went to the fridge, took out a bottle of milk, inserted a straw, and handed it to him, "Take a sip."

Bei Chi didn’t take it, just drank two sips from Chuzheng’s hand, gulping it down.

"Does it taste good?"

"Yes, it’s sweet." Much better than what he used to drink! Bei Chi’s eyes curved slightly, nodding obediently, "Do you want to try?"

Chuzheng moved the milk away, Bei Chi looked up at her, the reflection of her in his pupils suddenly drew closer, lips pressing against his, taking away all the sweetness enveloping him.

"It is indeed sweet." After kissing him, Chuzheng calmly praised him.

Now Bei Chi knows how to get embarrassed, with a slight blush on his face, yet he didn’t refute, lowering his head to continue eating.

However, he forgot that the previous dish was spicy and stuffed it all in his mouth, coughing fiercely, clutching the milk and gulping it down.

Zhi Kai came in and saw this scene.

The little poor fellow had a flushed face, clutching the milk and drinking frantically, while Chuzheng calmly sat beside watching like she was watching a play...

"What’s going on here?" Zhi Kai immediately went over to gossip with Xiaoyu.

"I don’t know." Xiaoyu had just returned from the backroom to get something and didn’t see what happened earlier.

"Just the little romantic antics between the boss and her little pet, don’t bother asking." Zhao Yingjun commented casually, "Beware of being silenced."

Upon hearing "silenced," Xiaogong quickly nodded in agreement, "Mm-hmm."

"..."

To avoid being silenced, they all decided to keep their mouths shut.

-

The zombies haven’t all returned to normal; only a small portion has recovered.

The lab suspects these individuals might have something in their bodies reacting with the virus.

But what it is, they still haven’t figured out.

On the human side, there’s still the occasional virus outbreak, with infected being swiftly sent to the other side of the wall.

Humans don’t know how long this will last, maybe it will continue like this, or perhaps one day they will find a solution.

Chuzheng’s name is known among humans, but very few have ever seen her.

Chuzheng and Bei Chi have lived in this world for quite some time, and Bei Chi is healthy without any issues, the virus doesn’t burden him.

Through Chuzheng’s personal experiments, it was proven that bodily fluids don’t transmit the virus.

The only route should be through the blood.

Under Chuzheng’s protection, Bei Chi doesn’t even lose a strand of hair, let alone get injured.

Bei Chi nestled in Chuzheng’s embrace, finding a comfortable position to hold her.

He mumbled, "Would you think I’m dumb?"

"Hm?"

"I... I can’t do anything."

"Can’t do what?" Chuzheng didn’t react immediately.

Bei Chi touched her with his finger, and Chuzheng suddenly understood, "It’s enough that I can."

"But Ah Yi said..." Bei Chi thought of what Ah Yi said about not telling her there.

Chuzheng suspiciously asked, "What did he tell you?"

"No... nothing." Bei Chi hugged her neck, "I miss you."

Chuzheng: "???"

Pardon my bluntness, but I’m right here, what do you miss about me?

I really can’t comprehend the thoughts of the Good Person Card.

Bei Chi listened to the sound of her heartbeat, nestled up at the position of her heart.

The sunlight I wish to see in the cracks... is you. — Bei Chi
