Chapter 41: Getting a new place

They arrived at the building, and immediately, Leon could barely believe his eyes because this was basically a skyscraper, and he would be living on one of the top floors.

A few days ago, he could barely afford to eat.

He stared at it for a bit until Kate tapped him and signalled for them to go inside. They made their way inside and were greeted by the receptionist and a few workers around. They got into the elevator and headed up to the fifth floor from the top. The elevator door opened into a hallway that led to a single door.

They got to the door, opened it, and inside was something that Leon would have never expected to see in his entire life. A massive room opened up for them. A sitting room that had been perfectly worked on, with clean white marble walls.

Couches were set in a perfect semicircle around where the television was meant to be.

Standing inside was a man in a clean and sleek suit, his hair slicked back and glasses on his eyes. When they entered, he pushed his glasses up and flashed a professional smile at them. He walked up to Kate and stretched out a hand to her.

"It’s great to see you, Lady Kate," he said with a semi-professional tone.

"Likewise," Kate replied and then turned. She pointed at Leon. "This is the person who will be taking her place. He is a special friend of mine, so I trust this place will be up to standards."

"Definitely, I’d never try to trick you, Lady Kate," the man said with a smile and then walked to Leon. He stretched out his hand. "You can call me Peter."

"Nice meeting you. I’m Leon."

"Right this way. I’ll show you all this building has," Peter said and turned around. He walked into the sitting room.

"This is the sitting room, and next to it is a perfect view of the city. These glass panes are strong enough to block even high-caliber bullets and attacks from hunters.

You also don’t have to worry about light coming in when you don’t want it to. You have two methods to block it," the man said, walking to the marble coffee table. He picked up a small remote there and clicked it. Instantly, the glass darkened and blocked out all the light from outside.

He clicked another button, and the lights in the room came on.

"With this remote, you can control everything that’s here, or you can have all the controls right on your phone, and you’ll have no use for this," he explained and clicked another button. The lights turned off, and the dark glass turned back to normal.

He clicked another button, and two curtains slid out from the edges of the walls and covered the glass.

"If you want to ensure that everything is covered in a different way, then you can easily opt for this method and use the curtains. But enough of the windows."

He turned his attention to where the television was meant to be and clicked a button. Suddenly, the wall developed seams and then opened up, sliding to the side like a door, and from behind it, a massive seventy-five-inch television with stunning displays came out, already turned on as it came out.

"This is your television, but we had to ensure it’s hidden because there is also a projector," the man said and turned around. He clicked the button, and a small slot in the back of the wall opened to reveal it.

"It’s a high-powered projector that will show perfectly on your wall there, even under light, for a bigger screen and for nights when you want to enjoy your movies in a different way."

He clicked again, and the television went inside, and the wall returned to its place.

"The chairs and couches are all special and have heating and cooling. So does the flooring. There is a properly fitted heater and AC in the entire place, but if that’s not enough, the floor can help."

After he was done with the sitting room, he turned and pointed to the kitchen, which was the next place. It was cut off from the sitting room using only a half-wall structure of marble to ensure that the person could see the sitting room.

"Inside is a dining area that can host five to six people," Peter started explaining, showing them the kitchen and everything that it had. Leon could not even lie. He was seeing some tools that he had no idea even existed, and it was a bit overwhelming.

’Even for me, who lived with Dad, this is a bit much.’

He didn’t say a word, though. This entire place would fit exactly what he wanted.

Peter went on to take them to the two bedrooms that were already fitted with everything that anyone could need. He also proceeded to tell them that there was an option for the rooms and the entire house to be optimized, and they could easily contact the managers and have that done for free. The former items would be taken away, and new ones brought in.

The offer lasted a week after entry, though. After that, every change came with a price, and that price grew the longer you had stayed inside.

Peter showed them the last room, which was a very large, completely empty room. He explained that this was where Leon could have whatever he wanted set up, whatever he wanted. For work, for exercise, whatever he believed he needed.

After he was done with the entire tour of the room, Leon had no issues with it, so he opted to sign it already and get on with it. Seeing that he was ready, Peter got his bag from the sitting room and got the contract. He placed it down and handed Leon a pen.

’I guess this is it, a step in a higher direction,’ Leon thought as he put pen to paper and signed the contract.
