Chapter 101: The Never Ending Beasts

Deep within the Forest of Unknowns, covered in mist and fog, a group of human Eidolons sat in a circle around a table with highly advanced technology. The largest one sat on a throne while the other 7 sat in regular chairs. They were talking quietly while using the devices to make changes to the forest itself. One of them laughed at a comment an Eidolon made about all the free food they potentially could eat.

This group met together every night and dictated the changes in the forest, which is why no one was ever properly able to map the entire place. It was large, covering over 100 square miles outside the school. It originally started as a smaller forest but expanded over the years since the VanHorns brought the Primordial Eidolon who continued to create beasts using his powers of creation.

The group got along well and fell under the hierarchy perfectly. Each seat was numbered, from 8 to 1 and if someone passed on, was killed or needed to be replaced due to the vote of the members of the leader executing the Eidolon, the unknown Lord Mythological Eidolon who ran the forest would select someone for the role. They were discussing the tournament and what their next steps were.

"Aren’t you worried about the Rask child?" An Eidolon asked the 15 foot dark scaled Eidolon sitting on the throne.

"No. If he comes, he comes. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. What’s important is that the forest remains alive." He said calmly, without a worry in the world and a giant grin.

"What would you like us to do sir?" Another asked.

"Nothing for now. I will let you know if and when we let out the hellspawns." He grinned in satisfaction.

’I hope you are as powerful as the Land Of Summoned Monsters says you are Tyler.’ The Lord Eidolon thought with a menacing laugh.

Back in their cavern, Tyler smiled and hugged his lovely ladies. He was happy. He finally calmed down and wasn’t raged anymore. Last he checked, his team was in first place by over 450 points and he didn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Ash was still out scouting for more resources and other teams and Tyler received pleasant notifications from his system.

[Ping! Congratulations! You are now level 91. Your familiar Rex has defeated over 500 beasts. You have one stat point available.]

Tyler smiled as he peaked outside at the scoreboard.

#1: Blue 1 - 2050 points

#2: Red 3 - 1100 points

#3: Black 1 - 900 points

#4 Black 2 - 860 points

#5 - Black 3 - 720 points

Sophie was passing around mana potions for the group and handed one to Tyler after giving him a kiss.

"Thanks babe," Tyler said while drinking it quickly.

[Your mana has been restored.]

"Do we know which schools are which colors?" Amanda asked after she burped from her mana potion.

"Oopsies! Sorry," She laughed.

"You did great out there! Seriously I felt so much more powerful with your buff and that block on Sophie was amazing." Kass said while giving her a hug.

"We all did very well together. If it is the same as last year, Black is Armitage, Purple is Victorian, SilverWing is silver, Arctic Academy is white, Drakmore is green, Rizkan Orange and Bloodcrest red." Nyxara said calmly while drinking her potion and eating a food capsule.

"Is that why they are our rivals? They have 3 teams in the top 5." Tyler asked.

"Yes. They usually all work together instead of spreading out. I’m not sure if you noticed, but our fourth team was the second school eliminated," Nyxara said with a frown.

"It’s ok. Let’s focus on us and worry about everything later. Rex and Ash should be back soon. Does anyone want to get some sleep? I’ll keep watch." Tyler offered with a genuine smile.

"I’ll sleep." Nyx yawned.

"I think I will too, thank you Tyler." Amanda smiled.

"That makes me three, if that’s ok with you Sophie?" Kass asked.

"Sure, I’ll keep watch with Tyler. Go rest, great job ladies!" She said while giving each of them a hug.

Tyler tucked them each into their sleeping bags and gave them each a kiss. He told each one he loved them and walked up to the front, where Sophie was standing, staring out of the slit of the top of the cavern.

"It looks so beautiful tonight, don’t you think?" She smiled while admiring the stars in the sky.

"Not as beautiful as you, but yes, it does look very nice." He said while grabbing her hand gently.

"Why hasn’t Rex returned? Is he ok?" She asked with a worried face.

"He is one of my more quiet familiars, but he took down over 500 beasts. He should be back soon." Tyler said quietly.

They watched another set of fireworks go off into the sky.

Silverwing Team 4 Eliminated by Armitage team 1 +500 points.

"They’re up to 1400, so they’re in second now. I wonder why they don’t have it so you get the other team’s accumulated points if you defeat them," Tyler asked.

"When we watched it last year, it didn’t have anything like this. Actually, I don’t think they’ve ever had an event in this forest. My dad participated in a tournament hosted here and he said they didn’t use it. It’s been here forever." Sophie said as a shiver ran down her spine.

"I don’t like it, Tyler. Everything about this event is creepy. No rules...people can die. It’s like they don’t even care about us as long as they can explore this forest they don’t know about and figure out what Professor VanHorn was up to all along." She frowned while putting her head on his shoulder.

Tyler rested his head on hers.

"They didn’t know about Professor VanHorn until recently but I agree that it’s strange they’re having us in a free for all with no rules. We have to be careful what we say, who knows how many cameras are out there and on us."

Sophie giggled. "I guess we’re going to have to get creative with sex then because there’s no way I’m going a week without you."

Tyler grinned. "I’m sure we could destroy a few and call it an accident."

Tyler felt Rex and Ash both return into his chest. He let Sophie know they returned and she relaxed inside. She was worried about Rex and glad to know he was ok. As strong as she was, she wasn’t jealous or upset Tyler passed her in rank and power. She was proud of him and the rest of the ladies for doing so well. Her parents were supportive of her and her entire life changed these past 5 months. She felt like a completely different person.

"Tyler, I’m going to the Realm of Summoned Monsters to eat and rest. I’m pretty warn out." Rex said while breathing heavily.

"Thanks for letting me know. Go rest, relax and come back only when you feel you’re ready. We don’t need you rushing back."

Tyler felt him disappear quickly.

"I wasn’t able to find any resource chests. It was eerily quiet. There’s a section I saw that didn’t have any cameras, though. Do you want to check it out?" Ash asked eagerly.

"Eidolons..." Tyler muttered.
