Chapter 279: How to Drive your Scooter, Seemingly a Millionaire

  • Next Chapter

The next morning, Solomon woke up early. He packed a small bag and headed downstairs.

"I have to complete an academy-related mission," Solomon told his parents as they prepared to leave for the diner. "I will be going out of the neighborhood and might not return for two or three days. It might take less time, or it might take slightly more. But I promise I will return home before I have to head back to the academy."

His parents hugged him, making him promise to stay safe before they left for work.

Solomon left the house shortly after and walked toward the local park. He met up with Paul near the swing sets. He had purchased a two-wheeled electric scooter as Solomon had requested, since it would be the easiest and fastest way for them to navigate through the crowded city streets without drawing attention.

"Let me drive it," Solomon said to him as gestured him to get to the backseat.

"Can you actually drive one of these?" Paul asked, holding the handlebars. "Do you have a license?"

Solomon placed a hand on Paul’s shoulder and offered a confident grin. "I just got my official Adventurer’s License recently."

Paul blinked. "I was not asking about an Adventurer’s License."

"A simple piece of paper does not prove any actual skill," Solomon responded smoothly, dodging the question. "And a license is definitely not enough to accurately judge someone’s life experience."

Paul looked straight into Solomon’s silver eyes. "You should just say ’no’ if you do not have a driver’s license." He let out a sigh and slid back onto the rear seat of the scooter.

Solomon hopped onto the front seat and grabbed the handlebars. "I have never actually driven a motorized vehicle before. This seems like a good chance to learn how it works."

Without waiting for instructions, Solomon twisted the accelerator grip as hard as he could. The electric scooter lurched forward with a sudden, violent burst of speed, rocketing down the pavement.

"DO NOT PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO FULL!" Paul yelled directly into Solomon’s ear, clutching the boy’s hoodie in sheer terror. "ROLL IT GRADUALLY!"

Solomon quickly let go of the grip. The scooter decelerated, cruising at a much safer speed down the suburban road.

"See? This is incredibly easy," Solomon scoffed, feeling entirely confident in his new driving skills.

A sharp turn approached rapidly. Instead of braking or slowing down, Solomon yanked the handlebars hard to the side and twisted the accelerator again. The sudden burst of speed completely ruined the turning radius. Realizing he was about to crash into a brick wall, Solomon panicked and slammed hard on the handbrakes.

The scooter’s tires locked up. The vehicle skidded violently across the pavement, sliding sideways before tumbling directly into a thick row of decorative bushes.

Fortunately, it wasn’t a severe crash. The thick foliage broke their fall, and neither of them sustained any injuries. However, Solomon was strictly forbidden from driving for the rest of the trip.

As Paul took over the handlebars and drove them toward the city center, Solomon leaned forward. "Did you remove and re-store everything inside your pocket dimension this morning?"

"Yes, I did it right before I left my apartment," Paul confirmed, keeping his eyes on the road. "We do not have to worry about the twenty-four-hour limit expiring until tomorrow morning."

"Did you manage to count how much money and loot we actually took?" Solomon asked. "Since we were in a hurry inside the vault last night, you did not have time to tally the haul."

"Since I discreetly transferred exactly one hundred thousand dollars to each of the 132 victims who were rescued last evening, we already spent 13.2 million dollars," Paul reported. "We currently have roughly eighty million dollars left in pure cash. There are also five hundred one-kilogram solid gold bars."

"What about the magical artifacts, the weapons, and the other gear?" Solomon inquired.

"There are a few strange artifacts, but I honestly do not understand what they do," Paul admitted.

"That is understandable," Solomon nodded. "Magical artifacts are basically just complex gadgets. Most artifacts can only be activated or utilized by mages who actually understand the underlying magical circuitry and know how to channel mana into them properly."

"There is a large pile of weapons, but they just seem like ordinary blades," Paul added. "They are most likely the collateral items taken from desperate debtors or given to the company in the form of physical repayment."

"I would like you to take out all the weapons right now," Solomon instructed.

Paul glanced back over his shoulder in surprise. "Right now? On the side of the road?"

"Right now," Solomon confirmed with a nod.

Paul pulled the scooter over and parked near a quiet alleyway. He activated his dimensional talent, pulling the confiscated weapons from the void and laying them out on the pavement. The pile consisted mostly of different kinds of standard swords, a few hunting daggers, a steel hand axe, a long spear, and a coil of reinforced rope.

Solomon quickly picked through the loot. He selected a sturdy greatsword, two standard longswords, two daggers, the hand axe, and the spear. He strapped the extra weapons to his back and waist.

’Even after having multiple weapons on my back, the weight is less than what I feel when having Eden’s penance with me,’ Solomon thought to himself. ’I couldn’t take you with me because of what I am going to do next. Don’t you worry my darling, I will be back soon to hold you in my arms!’

Even though Solomon was skilled in wielding multiple weapons and possessed basic skills to use them, Solomon had only been using Eden’s penance for the past months. It had become a part of him, but Solomon had decided to master other weapons and level up his skills also.

What could be a better way to do it, if not knocking on the death’s door?

Solomon then reached into his hoodie pocket and pulled out the manila folder containing the illegal real estate contract between the financial company and the ’Six Savers’ guild. He handed the documents to Paul.

"I want you to make this public," Solomon instructed. "Announce this conspiracy to the entire world."
