Chapter 255: Chapter 253: No Physical Contact

That girl with NPD is going on a rampage? Is this for real?

Zhang Zhe checked the intel provided by the brothers and sisters in his stream chat and found that things were a bit exaggerated.

So far, the girl had only gone on stream with four other streamers in the same field.

The same narcissism, the same stubbornness, the same way she brought up Zhang Zhe’s name...

Watching the bullet comments scroll by, Zhang Zhe kind of wanted to thank her.

’This is some great traffic she’s driving to my channel.’

It seemed like everyone wanted to see which streamer was shady enough to sic that eccentric character on someone else.

’Is this what real business warfare looks like?’

"Let me explain to all my friends in the stream. I did tell that girl to go ask other Matchmakers. I had no choice—she wouldn’t believe a word I said."

"But I didn’t expect her to be so stubborn. She won’t believe anyone, no matter what they say."

"You guys can also help me keep an eye on her. Let’s see how many dating and relationship streamers she ends up plaguing. I’ll make a compilation video later."

"Alright, let’s get our first caller of the day on the line."

Zhang Zhe knew that with viewers funneled in like this, you had to quickly give them the content they came for, or they’d leave just as fast.

And what he could give them was, naturally, another call with a bizarre character.

"Hello, hello! Miss, you’re live now."

"Can you turn on your microphone and talk to us?"

"Good evening, Brother Zhang." The woman was proactive, immediately starting to lay out her stats:

"I was born in ’95. I did both my undergrad and master’s abroad. Right now, I have an entry-level job at a state-owned bank here in Jinmen. The pay isn’t great, and I don’t really have a clear direction for my future career."

"As for my image, I have a cool, mature ’ice queen’ look, and my appearance is above average. But once I get into a relationship, I become very dependent and coy, a bit of a ’love brain.’"

"It’s completely different from my usual cold and aloof vibe."

"I just ended a rather unpleasant relationship last month. We were together for about half a month. I broke it off because the guy was a scumbag and did something that crossed a line."

"And now, my family is setting me up on blind dates..."

Zhang Zhe picked out the key points from the woman’s description and wrote them on his whiteboard:

[Bachelor’s and master’s from an unknown foreign university]

[Entry-level employee at a state-owned bank]

[Ex was a scumbag, broke up after half a month]

[Looks like an ’ice queen,’ acts like a dependent girl]

Putting these points together, a clearer picture of her began to form:

She went abroad for a superficial degree, came back, and her family got her a job as a bank teller. She seems restless, the type of older ’it girl’ whose style attracts scumbags, and she probably has a wild private life.

The kind of woman who frequents bars after work and can occasionally be found just hanging around on the street.

Of course, these were just stereotypes.

There were always exceptions, and Zhang Zhe wasn’t one to write someone off completely based on first impressions.

Besides, this woman wasn’t calling to ask about her dating market value.

Her current confusion lay elsewhere:

"My family introduced me to a guy who’s three years older than me. He works in finance, makes around 300,000 to 500,000 a year. As for his family, both his parents are civil servants."

"The only downside might be that his parents don’t have a great relationship."

"But I don’t think that’s a big deal. He’s a really nice guy."

"We’ve been seeing each other for about two months now. We’ll go out for dinner and movies, but there hasn’t been any physical contact whatsoever."

"After we last met on Friday, he hasn’t asked me out again. He’s slow to reply to my texts, if he replies at all. It’s a complete 180 from how he was before, to the point where I feel like I’m talking to a different person."

"I don’t get it..."

[Trust your gut. He did change. His ’simp’ persona switched off and his ’normal guy’ persona switched on.]

[Maybe you were too cold and he gave up hope.]

[Two months and you won’t even let him touch you? Of course he’s moving on to the next one.]

[He’s a different person now. Next caller, please.]

Zhang Zhe also jotted down the guy’s stats. Based on the hard qualifications she’d laid out, he did seem like a great catch.

In the blind-dating market, his stats were considered excellent.

For a guy like that to go on multiple dates with this woman meant that she must be the kind of cool, mature type that guys chase after—her looks were clearly competitive.

But as he was writing, Zhang Zhe noticed something wasn’t right.

’The timeline doesn’t add up.’

She’d been seeing the blind-date guy for two months.

But she only broke up with her ex-boyfriend last month.

The timelines overlapped.

"Hold on, girl. How were you going on blind dates while you were still in a relationship?"

Zhang Zhe circled both timelines on his board.

"You call your ex a scumbag, but you’re not much better, are you? Riding two boats at once?"

"No, the situation is actually a little surreal," the woman explained. "When I met him, he knew I had a boyfriend."

"So at first, we were just regular friends. We added each other on WeChat to get acquainted. He also knows about my breakup with the scumbag, and he’s aware that I wasn’t the one at fault."

"What I didn’t expect was that my family suddenly sent my profile to him. What started as a normal friendship suddenly turned into a family-arranged blind date."

[This is hilarious.]

[So the blind-date guy was one of the fish in her pond, and then suddenly they’re on a blind date. Kinda funny.]

[Isn’t that awkward? He knows all about your business with the scumbag.]

[Now I get why there was no physical contact. The guy thinks she’s tainted.]

[Is it possible he was just going through the motions to be polite? Maybe he was never actually into you.]

"Girl, in your own experience, why do you think he suddenly started ignoring you?"

"I think... it might be because I’m too passive."

At Zhang Zhe’s prompting, the woman first offered her own analysis:

"Like I said before, when I’m not in ’relationship mode,’ I can be a bit cold and aloof. I probably wasn’t giving him enough positive feedback."

"But he never made a move either."

"I mean, he never tried to hold my hand or make any other physical contact. From my perspective, he wasn’t doing anything to move our relationship forward..."

"I get it," Zhang Zhe said with a nod. "You think you were being a bit standoffish, but since he didn’t make a move, it’s his fault."

"Is that what you mean?"

"It’s not that I’m saying it’s his fault. I just don’t understand... he never even tried, so why did he just give up?" the woman said, confused. "It’s not like I ever rejected him."

[Maybe he dropped hints and you just didn’t pick up on them.]

[My guess is the guy did a deep dive into your relationship history and then bailed.]

[Could it be that your ex leaked videos of you?]

[Why don’t you just ask the guy directly?]

[She was definitely playing the ice queen. He tried to be warm, but she gave him the cold shoulder, so of course he ran.]

Zhang Zhe didn’t jump to conclusions and continued to ask:

"How many times did you two meet in total?"

"Seven times in total."

"And in all those seven times, he showed no inclination to initiate any physical contact?"

"Right," the woman said, a little regretfully. "During that time, besides dinner and movies, I even went over to his place, and he came to my apartment to help me assemble some new furniture."

"But he never even thought about holding my hand."

"I really don’t get it."

"It’s actually pretty easy to understand," Zhang Zhe said, explaining on the guy’s behalf. "In today’s social climate, he probably just doesn’t want to end up in jail."
