Chapter 697: Chapter 438: Cute Star Flying Crash (Part 2)

BANG!

Lightning flashed, and Zhou Chen was sent flying. His health bar plummeted.

He scrambled to his feet, chugging two Blood Potions to refill his health.

Onawaro began to pace like a stalking lion. It appeared relaxed, showing no killing intent, but any sudden move would be a fatal strike.

Zhou Chen held his breath and focused, his grip unconsciously tightening on his Weapon. He felt like a Hunter in a jungle, facing off against a ferocious beast; one wrong move and he would become the prey.

Suddenly, Onawaro spread its dragon wings and flapped. A blizzard of wind and snow, mixed with hail, burst forth. The temperature in the Divine Hall plummeted as a thick layer of solid ice coated everything, covered by pure white snow.

’This is the moment I’ve been waiting for!’

Elated, Zhou Chen slapped Forbidden Object C-005: Reversal Card onto the ground.

In an instant, the Attributes of the icy hellscape were reversed into a blazing inferno.

Molten magma flowed, Fiery Fire shot out in all directions, and violent balls of flame spread everywhere, turning the entire Divine Hall into a furnace.

Cyan Flame ignited beneath Zhou Chen’s feet, rapidly devouring and assimilating the other flames. In a flash, it formed a raging sea of cyan fire—scorching, surging, and shocking to behold.

A wave of fire struck. Caught off guard, Onawaro was seared by the Cyan Flame and let out a pained grunt. Its health bar began to drop, and a symbol for Soul Burning appeared below it.

With its Forbidden Magic Scale, Onawaro wouldn’t even flinch if a world-destroying Forbidden Curse hit it in the face. But the Soul-Burning Flame was not Magic; it was an Extraordinary Ability.

However, Onawaro was an Elemental Dragon, after all. Since the Soul-Burning Flame also had fire Attributes, Onawaro suppressed it in the blink of an eye, and the negative effect vanished.

But Zhou Chen had already achieved his goal. He used Flame Teleportation to appear silently beneath Onawaro’s massive body, gripping the red-hot Forged Warhammer.

Ancient, boundless fire runes lit up as surging Fiery Fire was compressed into the head of the hammer.

"Eighty!"

Zhou Chen roared, smashing the hammer down on the Mythical Giant Dragon. The hyper-concentrated Energy erupted without reservation, as if a Sun had exploded. A brilliant light filled the Divine Hall, making it as bright as day.

—[Fragilization] stacked with [Destruction of All Things]!

BOOM!

The air churned like a stormy sea, and the ground shattered from the impact. Onawaro was sent flying backward, its entire body covered in a dense web of crimson cracks, like a piece of porcelain about to shatter.

When it crashed to the ground, countless broken scales flew off, embedding themselves in the stone pillars, floor, and walls like shrapnel, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound.

Onawaro’s health bar dropped by a huge chunk.

Zhou Chen switched back to his Silver White Sun Unrivaled Blade and used Flame Teleportation to appear beside the fallen Onawaro. Taking advantage of the Armor-Piercing and stun effect, he wielded his dragon-slaying blade and unleashed a furious barrage of attacks.

Fragilization stacked with Destruction of All Things had successfully shattered the Forbidden Magic Scale, causing Onawaro’s Defense Power to plummet.

The damage dealt by the sharpened Silver White Sun Unrivaled Blade was considerable. Now, enhanced with Cyan Flame, the damage reached astonishing levels. After eighty or ninety high-speed slashes, he had knocked Onawaro’s health down to just two-fifths.

CRACKLE!

A thick bolt of pure white Thunderbolt fell without warning. Zhou Chen reacted quickly and dodged with a roll, but he was still grazed by the fine tendrils of lightning spreading across the ground and was briefly paralyzed.

Onawaro pushed its blood-soaked body up, the stun effect ending. It spoke in disbelief, "You actually command such a Rule Power..."

"How else do you think I killed the Magma Giant Beast and brought release to the Dwarf King and Giant King?"

Zhou Chen glanced at Onawaro’s health bar. A long list of negative effects had appeared below it: Armor-Piercing, Weakness, Continuous Bleeding, Continuous Burning, Soul Burning...

"Good, very good... You are quite impressive."

A puff of white mist shot from Onawaro’s nostrils, and a sharp killing intent gleamed in its draconic eyes. "Now for the final blow."

The moment it finished speaking, Onawaro flapped its Wings and soared high into the air. The Divine Hall was tall enough for it to circle overhead.

Zhou Chen tightened his grip on his Weapon and looked up at his foe. An intense sense of crisis washed over him, like thorns on his back, and the chilling premonition of death engulfed his Soul.

A pure white radiance enveloped Onawaro as a chain of Dragon Race language and runes appeared around it. A high-pitched, pure Holy Song, at first illusory, began to ring out. The singing gradually became real, roaring in Zhou Chen’s ears like a sacred anthem sung by a chorus of ten thousand, shaking his very spirit.

The Giant Dragon let out a long cry, its wings spread wide. A brilliant radiance covered its body, and endless light surged like a tidal wave, finally coalescing into a single point of pure white.

Then, a malevolent Star of pure white, filled with killing intent, plummeted toward the earth!

’So it’s a "Cute Star Flying Crash," huh!’

Zhou Chen’s eyes widened in shock as he took an Iaido stance.

In an instant, he calmed down, his heart becoming as still as water as he entered a state of absolute focus.

The pure white, malevolent Star, now right before him, was reflected in his tranquil pupils.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

Like a planet crashing into the ocean, setting off a world-ending tidal wave, the entire Divine Hall was buried in solemn, pure white.

And amidst the earth-shattering roar, a faint but exceptionally crisp sound rang out.

—TING!

·

The light gradually dimmed.

The Divine Hall was now visible, ravaged beyond recognition into a scene of brutal devastation. However, due to game mechanics, the hall hadn’t collapsed, and even the floor wasn’t too badly dented.

Yet, amid the aftermath of a terrifying attack that should have brought indiscriminate destruction to all, a single tiny figure had survived.

Zhou Chen had shifted a short distance away, still holding his blade-drawing posture, his gaze as cold as steel.

THUD.

Onawaro’s massive body collapsed. Its health bar had already fallen to one-fifth.

The boss battle music faded away, and the health bar above its head vanished. The fight was over.

Zhou Chen stood up, sheathed his Weapon, and looked at Onawaro.

Something unexpected happened. WHOOSH. The grievous wounds on Onawaro’s body vanished, and right before his eyes, it returned to its peak condition.

Onawaro slowly pushed itself up, observed its body, and exclaimed once more, "How miraculous. The injuries are all healed."

"Players can save their game, and bosses’ states will also refresh."

Zhou Chen smiled and asked, "Does this mean I passed?"

"Of course."

As Onawaro spoke, it lowered its draconic head and spat out a Golden Treasure Chest in front of Zhou Chen.

’The Sword of Ten Thousand Kings is in there...’ Zhou Chen’s heart pounded with excitement as he hurried forward to open the Treasure Chest.

A solemn and magnificent Heavy Sword lay quietly inside. Intricate patterns gave it a majestic aura. Images of the sun, moon, stars, mountains, and rivers appeared on its blade, followed by phantom visions of various regions in Gaia: the Holy Hall Church, the Magic Academy, Satellite Cities...

This was the symbol of the King of Gaia, the supreme sword that controlled all of Gaia.

Zhou Chen took a deep breath. Just as he was about to pick up the Sword of Ten Thousand Kings, Onawaro’s voice sounded in his ear. "You’d best think twice."

It spoke with grave seriousness, "This is by no means a simple special Artifact from a game. To take up the Sword of Ten Thousand Kings means you are willing to become the King of Gaia, to become our leader. You must bear the corresponding responsibilities and duties.

Although you have passed my trial, you must still pass the trial of the Sword of Ten Thousand Kings. That is a trial of the spirit. The slightest misstep will tear your very personality apart.

Are you certain you’ve thought this through?"

Zhou Chen’s hand froze in midair. He looked at the Sword of Ten Thousand Kings as if it were a hot potato.

’Thought it through? Are you kidding me? I haven’t thought about any of this at all!’

He thought the Sword of Ten Thousand Kings was just a special Artifact, something like the Artificial Sun. He figured that by obtaining it, he’d get some special bonus, like increased Attack Power or attacks that came with cool special effects.

’Rule all of Gaia? That’s not something I can do. The highest position I’ve ever held was Secretary to the head of the Special Operations Team.’

’Besides fighting, my usual work involved making spreadsheets, approving applications, and making coffee for Jiang Che. Whenever I had free time, I’d just slack off. It had nothing to do with the lofty art of governing a nation.’

’No, it’s a world of difference!’

Zhou Chen was absolutely certain that if he were to become the king of a country, that country would be totally screwed.
