"Just like that, you’re taking her? I-I-I—there’s still a dinner!"

The assistant didn’t dare to shout Lydia Brooke’s name loudly, so they only took out their phone and sent a message to Lydia Brooke.

"Lydia Brooke, what about the dinner? This is Director Chapman’s dinner! If you don’t go..."

Lydia Brooke, sitting in Jorge Saxton’s car, replied to the message: "Cancel it, just say I can’t make it."

Lydia Brooke held the phone in her hand and looked at the person in the driver’s seat, "You’ve been following me all day, what exactly do you want? I still have work."

Jorge Saxton glanced at Lydia Brooke, his face sullen: "Lydia Brooke, you don’t lack money, why are you working so hard?"

Won’t you rest when you’re injured? Can’t you cancel engagements?

You were dancing at a fan meeting even with an injured foot!

Jorge Saxton’s anger surged, overwhelming.

"Then you don’t lack women, why do you follow me?" Lydia Brooke retorted coldly, "If you want to play emotional games, there are plenty of people to play with you. Why follow me all day today? Jorge Saxton, if you want to play games, I have no time, and I won’t play emotional games with you."

Once was enough for that kind of experience, unforgettable for her.

Jorge Saxton’s fingers tightened around the steering wheel.

The two were silent all the way, Lydia Brooke staring out of the window in a daze.

Before getting into the car, to avoid the media, she had clung to him, her face buried in his chest, and the scene replayed in her mind, making her cheeks flush and her heart race.

At night, City C was illuminated with bright lights and busy traffic.

Jorge Saxton drove silently, and by the time Lydia Brooke snapped back to reality, the car had stopped in front of a villa.

"Why did you bring me here?"

"Get out and eat."

Lydia Brooke sat still, knowing this was Jorge Saxton’s house, looking indifferent with no intention to move.

Jorge Saxton walked over to the passenger seat, bent down without a word, picked up Lydia Brooke, and walked away.

"Jorge Saxton, you rogue—let go, I can walk myself!" Lydia Brooke struggled.

Jorge Saxton glanced at Lydia Brooke’s face, "How can you walk with your injured foot? Besides, when I asked you to get out, you didn’t respond, weren’t you just waiting for me to carry you?"

"I wasn’t waiting for you to carry me, I was— I want to go back to my apartment!"

Jorge Saxton didn’t agree to Lydia Brooke’s words, carrying her straight inside.

Lydia Brooke was held in Jorge Saxton’s arms, her heart uncontrollably racing.

As they walked into the living room, a servant approached.

"Young Master, the food is ready, you can eat."

"Hmm, you can go now."

"Yes, Young Master."

The servant looked in surprise at the person in Jorge Saxton’s arms before retreating.

Jorge Saxton placed Lydia Brooke by the dining table and sat opposite her.

"When do you plan to retire from the industry?" Jorge Saxton asked.

Lydia Brooke didn’t stand on ceremony, as she hadn’t eaten much all day. She picked up the chopsticks and replied coldly, "No plans to retire, maybe when I’m old."

"Do you want to keep living like this? Rushing around every day, not even eating or resting properly, why did you have to enter this entertainment circle cesspool?" Jorge Saxton’s voice was filled with anger and questioning.

Lydia Brooke chuckled lightly, with cold sarcasm, looking at Jorge Saxton, "Young Master Saxton, now we’re nothing more than ordinary friends, do you have the right to interfere in my life and choices? I like being busy, like feeling fulfilled, like being tired, are these reasons enough?"

Only being busy and tired will prevent her from dwelling on the past, from overthinking, and allow her to catch a breath.

"So, you’d rather sustain injuries and keep performing on stage, rushing around every day, just for these empty titles? Tell me, what heights do you want to reach, and I’ll help you achieve them. Once you reach that height, retire!"
