Devara slowly approached the bed and gently brushed a strand of hair away from Gandhari’s forehead.

Gandhari did not wake.

After everything she had endured, he could not bring himself to disturb her sleep.

Then one of the attendants quietly approached him.

"Maharaja, the children are waiting."

Devara looked at her.

Devara followed the attendants through another corridor and into a separate chamber that had been prepared for the newborn royal children.

The moment the doors opened, he stopped.

Completely.

He simply stared.

The entire chamber was filled with babies.

Cradles had been arranged throughout the enormous room, with attendants moving carefully between them.

Tiny newborns slept beneath soft blankets, while others moved their little hands and feet, occasionally letting out soft cries that quickly joined the sounds of another baby.

Some were already sleeping peacefully, while others seemed determined to announce their arrival to the entire kingdom.

Devara’s eyes slowly widened.

There were babies everywhere.

One hundred sons.

And somewhere among them was his daughter.

For several seconds, Devara could not move.

He had fought demons, crossed supernatural realms, faced divine trials, wrestled an Asura who possessed terrifying powers, and stood against forces capable of threatening entire kingdoms.

None of those experiences had prepared him for this.

The chamber looked less like a royal nursery and more like an entire generation had suddenly appeared inside it.

Karna, who had followed him, struggled to contain his laughter when he saw Devara’s expression.

"What happened?"

Devara slowly turned his head toward him.

Karna burst into laughter.

"You don’t."

Devara looked back toward the sea of tiny faces.

One baby suddenly began crying.

Another joined and then another.

Within moments, three different corners of the chamber had erupted into newborn cries.

Devara blinked.

The attendants hurried toward them.

Karna placed a hand over his mouth, clearly enjoying the sight.

Devara slowly walked into the chamber.

Every step brought another tiny face into view.

His sons. His daughter.

The realization finally settled within him.

He was no longer simply a king preparing to inherit a future.

He was now the father of one hundred and one children.

Devara’s expression softened completely.

He approached the nearest cradle and looked down at the tiny boy sleeping peacefully inside it.

The child’s little fingers moved in his sleep, and Devara instinctively extended one finger.

The newborn’s hand closed around it.

Devara froze again.

A quiet smile appeared on his face.

"Hello, little one."

His voice was barely above a whisper.

Behind him, Karna watched silently.

The warrior who had faced countless dangers without hesitation now stood completely overwhelmed by something far more powerful than any battlefield.

Fatherhood.

And somewhere among the hundred boys sleeping around him was the little daughter he had not yet found.

Devara looked across the enormous chamber.

"Where is my daughter?" he asked softly.

One of the attendants smiled.

"She is here, Maharaja."

Devara’s eyes immediately began searching the room.

For the first time since entering the chamber, his heart began beating faster.

After some time, Gandhari slowly opened her eyes.

For a few moments, she simply stared upward, her vision still blurred by the exhaustion that had consumed her.

The familiar ceiling of her chamber gradually came into focus, reminding her where she was.

She could hear the faint movement of attendants outside, the distant ringing of temple bells and the occasional muffled sound of celebration drifting through the palace.

Her body still felt impossibly heavy.

Every muscle seemed to remember the ordeal she had endured, and even breathing deeply required effort.

Gandhari slowly moved her fingers against the soft bedding, trying to gather her thoughts.

Then she heard footsteps approaching.

She turned her head slightly.

Devara was walking toward her.

And in his arms was their daughter.

The moment Gandhari saw the tiny bundle, her tired eyes softened.

Devara approached the bed carefully, his expression filled with a mixture of happiness, relief and lingering concern.

He gently sat beside her before carefully lowering the newborn onto the bedding next to her.

"There she is," he whispered.

Gandhari stared at the tiny girl.

Their daughter was sleeping peacefully, her tiny face relaxed and her little hands tucked close to her body.

Gandhari’s eyes immediately became moist as she looked at the child she had fought so hard to bring into the world.

Devara leaned down and gently kissed Gandhari’s forehead.

Gandhari looked up at him.

"You look exhausted," she whispered.

Devara chuckled softly.

"You should see yourself."

She gave him a weak glare that immediately made him smile.

After a moment, Gandhari’s expression softened.

"Did I make you panic?"

Devara stared at her for a moment before letting out another quiet laugh.

He reached for her hand and carefully held it between both of his.

"Did you make me panic?"

He repeated, as though considering the question.

Gandhari gave him a tired little smile.

Devara leaned closer.

"I nearly lost my life from fear of losing you."

The smile on Gandhari’s face slowly disappeared, replaced by tenderness.

"I was that frightening?"

"You were carrying one hundred and one children,"

Devara replied, gently squeezing her hand.

"I was sitting outside wondering whether I was going to lose the woman I love. Every sound coming from this chamber made my heart stop."

Gandhari looked at him quietly.

"I was afraid too," she admitted.

Devara gently brushed his fingers through her hair.

"But you endured."

Gandhari glanced toward their daughter.

"For them."

Devara followed her gaze.

"For all of them," he said softly.

He looked at their daughter again, then back at Gandhari.

"You gave me a daughter."

Gandhari smiled faintly.

"And one hundred sons."

Devara’s eyebrows rose.

"Yes. That part is still terrifying me."

Gandhari let out a weak laugh, the sound barely more than a breath.

For the first time since she had awakened, the tension in her face completely disappeared.

Devara leaned down and kissed her forehead again.

"Sleep," he whispered. "Everything else can wait."

Gandhari looked at him for a few more moments before slowly closing her eyes again, her hand still resting within his.

Beside her, their newborn daughter slept peacefully.

And for the first time in three and a half years, Gandhari could finally rest without carrying the weight of the future inside her.

Devara remained beside Gandhari for some time, simply enjoying the quietness of the moment.

After everything that had happened, neither of them felt the need to speak constantly.

Gandhari rested peacefully while their daughter slept beside her, and Devara occasionally glanced toward the little girl before looking back at his wife with a smile.

Outside the chamber, the sounds of celebration continued throughout the palace, but inside, there was finally a sense of peace.

That peace was interrupted when a royal guard quietly entered the chamber.

The man stopped several steps away, bowed respectfully and waited until Devara noticed him.

When Devara looked toward him, the guard approached cautiously before leaning closer and whispering into his ear.

"The attack at the temple, Maharaja... we have learned more about it."

Devara’s expression immediately changed.

The warmth that had been present in his eyes moments earlier disappeared, replaced by a sharp seriousness.

The guard continued in a low voice.

"The creatures were specifically targeting you. The Naagas managed to capture one of them alive, but it was already poisoned by their venom. Ashwatthama questioned it before it died."

Devara’s eyes narrowed.

"What did it say?"

The guard hesitated for a moment.

"It claimed that what happened today was only the beginning. Before it died, it warned that a great war was coming, one that would drench the whole of Bhulok in blood. It also spoke of a master, Maharaja, but it died before revealing who that master was."

Devara remained silent.

His gaze slowly moved toward Gandhari.

She was still resting peacefully, unaware of what had happened while she was unconscious.

Their newborn daughter slept beside her, while somewhere in another chamber their one hundred sons were being cared for by the royal attendants.

A few moments ago, Devara had been thinking only about his family.

Now someone had placed the possibility of a massive war directly before him.

His jaw tightened.

"Where is Ashwatthama?"

"Near the temple, Maharaja. He was investigating the captured creature."

Devara nodded slowly.

"And the Naagas?"

"They remain in position around the temple and throughout the surrounding forest. The guards have increased security as well."

Devara’s expression remained serious.

"Good. Tell them to maintain it."

The guard bowed.

"Yes, Maharaja."

Before leaving, the guard glanced toward Gandhari and the sleeping child, then quietly stepped out of the chamber.

Devara remained beside the bed.

His hand gently rested over Gandhari’s.

He looked at his wife, then at their daughter.

The timing troubled him.

An enemy had attacked him while he was performing penance for Gandhari and the children.

They had apparently expected him to be vulnerable, yet the Naagas had stopped them before they could reach him.

One creature had survived long enough to deliver a warning about a coming war.

Devara’s eyes hardened.

He had no intention of allowing an unknown enemy to turn his kingdom into a battlefield, especially now.

But he also knew better than to panic.

He had faced enemies before.

He would uncover who was behind this.

And when he did, they would learn that threatening his family and kingdom was a very different matter from threatening a solitary king.

Devara leaned down and gently kissed Gandhari’s forehead once more.

"Rest," he whispered. "I’ll take care of the rest."

Then he looked toward the doorway, his expression becoming cold and focused.

Somewhere beyond the palace walls, an enemy was preparing for war.

Devara intended to find out who.
