-------------------------------------------------
Far away from Trivenivrata, beyond the familiar boundaries of the realms governed by the Devas, an endless desert stretched beneath a blazing sun.
The landscape was almost entirely barren.
Vast dunes extended towards the horizon, their golden surfaces shifting gently under the hot desert winds.
Scattered rocks emerged from the sand, while occasional patches of dry vegetation provided shelter for the creatures that inhabited this unforgiving environment.
Several lizards crawled between the rocks, snakes rested beneath the shade of stones, and scorpions moved slowly across the sand in search of shelter.
Suddenly, the atmosphere began to change.
A faint distortion appeared above the desert floor, causing the surrounding air to ripple.
The lizards immediately stopped moving, while several snakes raised their heads, sensing an unfamiliar disturbance. Even the scorpions began retreating towards the cracks between the rocks.
The distortion gradually expanded.
A circular formation of ocean-blue energy appeared in midair, its surface resembling a swirling pool of luminous water.
The surrounding sand began rising as though caught in an invisible current, and a low humming sound spread across the deserted landscape.
Then, from within the portal, a figure slowly stepped forward.
Devara.
His feet touched the golden sand, and the portal behind him continued glowing for a few moments before gradually contracting and disappearing.
He looked around.
"Hmm... Quite a different place."
He adjusted his clothing and examined the endless desert stretching in every direction.
The heat was considerably stronger than what he was accustomed to, although his divine constitution made it hardly uncomfortable.
A small lizard sitting on a nearby rock stared at him.
Devara glanced towards it.
"Well, hello there."
The lizard immediately disappeared between the rocks.
Devara chuckled.
"Friendly fellow."
Just as he was about to continue examining the surroundings, a familiar notification appeared before his eyes.
[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]
[Dimensional Travel Successfully Completed!]
[Welcome to a Previously Unvisited Universe.]
[New World Identified: Egyptian Divine Territories.]
[Dominant Divine Authority: Egyptian Pantheon.]
[World Classification: Independent Divine Territory.]
[Congratulations, Host! You have successfully entered a new universe governed by another pantheon.]
[Exploration Reward Granted!]
+12,000 Karma Points
[Previous Karma Points: 62,235]
[Current Karma Points: 74,235]
Devara raised an eyebrow.
"Twelve thousand? Not bad."
He had initially expected a reward for entering an entirely new universe, but the system seemed to have considered the significance of crossing into another pantheon’s territory.
However, another notification appeared before he could dismiss the interface.
[BONUS SKILL ACQUIRED!]
[Skill: Chronos Instinct]
[COMBAT REACTION ENHANCEMENT
Description:
A specialised combat ability that temporarily accelerates the Host’s perception, reaction speed, and physical response beyond their normal limits.
Activation Conditions:
The Host must successfully catch or physically intercept an opponent during combat.
The Host must subsequently receive three successful hits from the opponent.
Effect:
Dramatically enhances reaction speed and combat perception.
Allows the Host to perceive incoming attacks at an accelerated rate.
Enables exceptionally rapid defensive movements, counters, and evasive manoeuvres.
Synchronises the Host’s physical responses with his enhanced perception.]
[Duration: 5 minutes.]
[Restrictions:
All activation conditions must be fulfilled during the same battle.
The three successful hits must be received after the opponent has been caught.
The skill cannot be manually activated without fulfilling its conditions.
Once the duration expires, the skill automatically deactivates.]
Devara stared at the notification for a few seconds.
"Chronos Instinct?"
He read through the conditions once again.
"So, I need to catch my opponent first, allow them to hit me three times, and then I get five minutes of enhanced reactions?"
He raised an eyebrow.
"Interesting. Rather unusual activation conditions, though."
He considered the ability.
The skill was particularly useful against opponents whose speed or fighting techniques exceeded his ordinary reaction capabilities.
Once activated, he would be able to perceive their movements far more effectively and respond accordingly.
However, deliberately allowing an opponent to strike him three times was hardly an ideal strategy.
"Well, I suppose the system wants me to earn it."
He dismissed the notification.
[Current Karma Points: 74,235]
Devara stretched his shoulders before looking towards the distant horizon.
The desert appeared to continue endlessly, with no obvious signs of civilisation nearby.
"Now then..."
He raised his hand and summoned the system interface once again.
"Let’s find out where exactly I am."
A new search notification appeared as the system began processing the available environmental information.
Meanwhile, several creatures that had witnessed his arrival continued observing him from their hiding places.
One particularly large desert lizard emerged from beneath a rock and slowly crawled towards the location where the portal had appeared.
It flicked its tongue, sensing the unfamiliar divine energy lingering in the air.
Devara noticed it and he crouched slightly and extended his hand.
"Come on. I’m not going to eat you."
The lizard stared at him.
Then it quickly scurried away.
Devara sighed.
"Apparently, making friends in this place is going to be difficult."
He stood up and looked towards the blazing sun.
Somewhere beyond these endless dunes lay the lands governed by the Egyptian gods.
He had entered their territory, and sooner or later, someone would notice the unfamiliar divine presence that had appeared within their world.
For now, however, he had a bracelet to find.
And a promise to fulfil.
Just as Devara finished speaking, something moved beneath his upper garment.
A small black head slowly emerged from the opening near his shoulder, followed by a pair of gleaming eyes that carefully examined the unfamiliar surroundings.
It was none other than the black serpent.
The little serpent extended its head further, flicking its tongue as it sensed the strange atmosphere surrounding them. After looking towards the endless desert, it turned its head towards Devara.
Devara noticed the movement and glanced down.
"Oh? So you came along as well?"
The serpent raised its head proudly, almost as though offended by the question.
Devara chuckled.
"What’s with that expression? Did you think I was going to leave you behind?"
The serpent flicked its tongue twice before slowly crawling out of his clothing and settling around his shoulders.
Its smooth black scales reflected the sunlight, while its small head remained raised, observing the unfamiliar world.
Devara gently touched its head with his finger.
"Well, at least I have some company now."
The serpent moved its head towards his cheek before resting comfortably around his neck.
Devara examined it for a moment.
"I wonder how you managed to cross the dimensional portal. I was expecting to arrive alone."
The serpent simply stared at him.
"Don’t tell me you were hiding inside my clothes throughout the journey."
It flicked its tongue.
Devara narrowed his eyes playfully.
"That explains it. You probably fell asleep while I was preparing the portal."
The serpent gave a small movement of its head, seemingly unconcerned with the accusation.
Devara laughed.
"Fine, fine. You can come along. But don’t go wandering around on your own. We are in an unfamiliar territory, and I have no idea what creatures inhabit this place."
The serpent looked towards the nearby rocks.
A moment later, a small desert lizard emerged from its hiding place.
The black serpent immediately raised its head.
The lizard noticed the newcomer and froze.
For several seconds, the two creatures stared at each other.
Then the lizard hurriedly disappeared beneath the sand.
Devara looked at the serpent.
"See? You are already frightening the locals."
The serpent turned towards him, flicking its tongue as though it had absolutely no idea what he was talking about.
Devara shook his head with amusement.
"Anyway, let’s get moving."
He began walking across the dunes, with the black serpent comfortably settled around his shoulders.
He had entered an entirely new universe, encountered an unfamiliar environment, and received a new skill from his system.
But at least one familiar companion had decided to accompany him.
And judging by the way the little serpent was observing everything around them, it seemed just as curious about this new world as Devara was.
The sun had been relentless.
For several hours, Devara had been walking across the seemingly endless stretch of golden sand, with nothing but dunes surrounding him in every direction.
The landscape barely changed no matter how far he travelled.
One dune gave way to another, the occasional rocky formation appeared in the distance, and then everything returned to the same endless sea of sand.
The heat was another matter entirely.
Even for someone who had endured the scorching fires of divine weapons and trained under Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, the desert was proving to be an unpleasant experience.
The sunlight reflected off the sand, making it difficult to distinguish distant objects.
Every step caused his feet to sink slightly, and the warm wind carried fine grains of sand that occasionally struck his face.
Devara wiped his forehead and looked towards the distant horizon.
"Now I understand why deserts are considered one of the most dangerous places to walk alone," he muttered.
"There isn’t even a tree to provide some shade. Not to mention that every direction looks exactly the same."
