Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 479: She Thinks She Can Touch My Things?
Although he knew she doted on her sister, the way she just left him here still made him a little uncomfortable.
’It’s like everything is more important to her than I am.’
Anne Sutton followed Sharon Sutton back to their family’s place and saw Anna Linden learning to cook from Mrs. Sutton. The two were deep in conversation, looking like best friends who had known each other for years.
Watching this scene, Anne Sutton smiled slightly. "Mom, Dr. Linden."
Anna Linden’s gaze fell on Anne Sutton. "Weren’t you out with Nathan and the kids? Why are you back so soon?"
Anne Sutton said, "Sharon wasn’t feeling well, so we came back early."
"What’s wrong?" Mrs. Sutton asked, looking at Sharon Sutton.
Sharon Sutton replied, "It’s nothing. I just haven’t been out in a while, so I’m not used to it."
Mrs. Sutton chuckled. "Your sister is always telling you to get out more! You’re cooped up in the shop with me every day; you really should get out for a walk."
Sharon Sutton said, "I like being in the shop. Here, let me help you."
With that, she walked over to Anna Linden and started to help.
Anne Sutton, on the other hand, had no interest in cooking.
She was as lazy as she was a good cook.
Seeing that they were all busy, she went to rest on her own.
Anna Linden looked at Sharon Sutton and asked, "Are you feeling unwell? You look so pale."
Since Anna Linden often visited Mrs. Sutton’s shop and Sharon Sutton was always there, the two of them had grown quite familiar.
Sharon Sutton gazed at the beautiful woman before her, reminded that this was Nathan Fawcett’s mother...
She said, "I just got a bit too much sun and felt dizzy. I’ve already rested, so I’m fine now."
"That’s good to hear," said Anna Linden. "It’s nice of you to help your mom in the shop, but you need to take care of yourself too. Your mother would be worried sick if anything happened to you."
"That won’t happen," Sharon Sutton said. "My sister said she’s going to stay and keep us company for a few days."
"Oh, really?" Anna Linden’s thoughts turned to Anne Sutton...
It was a funny coincidence.
Anna Linden was at Mrs. Sutton’s every day, while Anne Sutton was always at the Linden family home...
It was as if the two of them had swapped places.
But she knew that Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett were close.
Even after Anne Sutton rejected his marriage proposal, Nathan hadn’t given up.
So, Anna Linden didn’t object to Anne Sutton coming back to stay for a while.
Even though Anne Sutton wasn’t usually at the shop, she was the pillar of support for Mrs. Sutton and Sharon Sutton.
Anne Sutton found a lounge, took a nap, and by the time she woke up, it was nearly dark.
She walked out to find only Mrs. Sutton in the shop. Anna Linden and Sharon Sutton were gone.
Anne Sutton asked, "Where are they?"
Mrs. Sutton said, "Dr. Linden went home, and Sharon went over to help her with something. Did you have a good nap? I made you some dinner."
Her voice was gentle.
Anne Sutton walked over. Seeing the pastries her mother had made for her, she was delighted. "Thanks, Mom."
She picked one up and popped it into her mouth. "Slow down," Mrs. Sutton said.
"I’m fine," Anne Sutton replied.
Mrs. Sutton then said, "Oh, right. Did anything happen when you were all out today? Sharon looked a bit off when she came back."
"I’m not really sure," said Anne Sutton. "I went to the restroom, and when I came back, Sharon was crying. Ian said Nathan Fawcett pushed her to the ground. She wanted to come home, so I brought her back."
Mrs. Sutton’s brows furrowed when she heard this.
Anne Sutton looked at her mother. "What is it?"
Mrs. Sutton asked, "You’re not going back to the Lindens’ tonight? Aren’t the kids still there?"
"Sharon is upset that I’m always at the Lindens’ and never come home. She feels I’m too close to Nathan Fawcett and am neglecting you two. So, I’ll stay here with her for a couple of days. I’ll send a message in a moment and ask Sharon to bring my things over with her."
As she spoke, Anne Sutton messaged the maid at the Linden home, asking her to pack her belongings so that Sharon Sutton could bring them over when she was done.
After all, she had work the next day.
...
Nathan Fawcett had already returned with the children.
The moment he walked in the door, he saw Sharon Sutton sitting on the sofa.
Seeing Sharon Sutton, his face darkened. "What are you doing here?"
Seeing Nathan Fawcett, Sharon Sutton said timidly, "Brother-in-law."
Anna Linden came out, saw Nathan Fawcett, and said, "You’re back?"
"Is Anne upstairs? I’m going to find her." ’How could she bring Sharon Sutton back here?’
This irritated Nathan Fawcett.
Anna Linden said, "Anne is at her mother’s shop. Sharon came over to help me with something, and she’s already done."
When Nathan Fawcett heard this, he looked at Sharon Sutton. ’So Anne sent her back to her mother’s shop, but she ran over here instead?’
’What kind of logic is that?’
Just then, a maid came downstairs with a bag and said to Sharon Sutton, "Miss Sutton, these are Ms. Sutton’s belongings. She asked for you to bring them to her."
Sharon Sutton took the bag. "Thank you."
Nathan Fawcett stood to the side, staring at Sharon Sutton and the bag of Anne Sutton’s belongings she was holding. ’She’s even moving her things out? Is she not coming back tonight?’
He looked at Sharon Sutton and demanded, "What did you say to your sister today?"
Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s question, Sharon Sutton looked at him. "Brother-in-law, what do you mean? I didn’t say anything."
Seeing how aggressive he was, Anna Linden said, "Why are you being so harsh? What’s gotten into you?"
Nathan Fawcett said, "Don’t let her come to the house again. I can’t stand the sight of her."
Anna Linden stared at Nathan Fawcett in disbelief. ’He’s actually talking about Sharon Sutton like that...’
’If Anne heard him, wouldn’t he be afraid of making her angry?’
Sharon Sutton took the bag from the maid and said, "Auntie, I’ll be going now."
With that, she took the bag and walked out the door.
Nathan Fawcett watched her leave, his expression thunderous.
Anna Linden looked at Nathan Fawcett. "What is the matter with you? That’s Anne Sutton’s sister. How can you talk like that? Aren’t you afraid of upsetting Anne?"
"They’re two different people," Nathan Fawcett said. "I’ve never been able to stand her. She once threw a tantrum at Anne just to get her to find a job for that scumbag ex-husband of hers. I’ve disliked her for a long time."
"Sharon already told us about that," Anna Linden replied. "She was immature back then, but she’s seen that scumbag for who he is now, hasn’t she? What’s gotten into you? You were perfectly polite to her before. Did something happen when you were out today?"
Nathan Fawcett fell silent, sat down, and glanced at the two children. "Why don’t you two go upstairs for a bit."
Hearing Nathan Fawcett, Ian and Finn headed upstairs together.
Anna Linden looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Well? Tell me."
Nathan Fawcett said, "She tried to seduce me."
Anna Linden was speechless. She stared at her son in disbelief. "Really? But she’s always so good to Anne. I can’t believe she’d do something like that."
Besides, her fondness for Mrs. Sutton made it even harder for Anna Linden to believe.
Nathan Fawcett said, "Mother, do you think I’d joke about something like this? She insisted on drinking from the water bottle I was using. I got angry and pushed her over. Who does she think she is, touching my things?"
Anna Linden said, "I think you might be overthinking this. She probably didn’t mean anything by it."
