Chapter 806: Chapter 400: First Life of Comprehending the Dao in Reincarnation: The Demon Race Will Never Be Slaves (1)
The mountain mist drifted slowly like a light veil, gathering at times and dispersing at others, akin to a mysterious dancer performing gracefully amidst the landscape. Wherever the mist permeated, trees, flowers, and grass were draped in a hazy gossamer, creating the illusion of a fairyland.
From the distant valley came bursts of crisp birdsong, rising and falling in succession, weaving into a melodious natural symphony.
Cheng Zongyang stood quietly on the platform, immersed in this picturesque scenery.
Time flowed leisurely by. After a long while, Cheng Zongyang seemed to peacefully awaken from deep contemplation. He slowly opened his mouth and said, "Soul."
Soul, which had been obediently sitting beside Cheng Zongyang all this while, seemed to be awakened. It became instantly alert and couldn’t help but look up, staring straight at him with an inquiring and focused gaze.
Cheng Zongyang’s gaze was profound and distant, as if piercing through endless time and space, as he said softly,
"What comes next is my journey, and you, too, should embark on your own path of exploration. Go experience this world to the fullest and perfect your Dao heart.
"Both you and I possess a long Lifespan. Over these endless years, witnessing the myriad aspects of life, the seven emotions and six desires, as well as birth, aging, illness, and death, is inevitable.
"If we do not experience them firsthand, wouldn’t it be like sitting on endless treasures yet letting them gather dust, wasting our long years in vain? How boring would that be.
"Between heaven and earth, no matter what kind of living creature it is, all are granted the right to survive and live by the Dao. Through the evolution of Daoist Skills, there is naturally a cycle of Celestial Dao Reincarnation at play in the unseen world."
"WOOF WOOF!!" Soul barked twice. Was it supposed to experience the outside world alone?
Cheng Zongyang nodded slightly. "Exactly. With your current strength, even the best among Cultivators would find it difficult to do anything to you.
"You can freely go anywhere you wish in this world. In the future, when we have both gained unique insights and harvests on our respective journeys, we can just return to the village and wait quietly."
"WOOF!" Soul seemed to instantly grasp Cheng Zongyang’s intent.
Its quietly sitting figure slowly stood up, turning to head toward the back of the mountain. However, it stopped from time to time, turning its head to look back at Cheng Zongyang, its gaze faintly revealing reluctance to part.
Finally, Soul’s agile figure gradually vanished into the lush mountain forest, leaving Cheng Zongyang standing there alone.
He gazed in the direction Soul had departed and smiled faintly. He needed to comprehend the Dao, and Soul also needed improvement and insight. The Ring Spirit and the main body were improving in the Realm of Ten Thousand Races, while he and Soul were improving in the Martial Arts Realm. No matter which side failed, there would always be a way out.
This was the beginning of their respective pursuits of the Great Dao, and the future was full of unknowns and anticipation.
"Ring Spirit," Cheng Zongyang suddenly said.
A moment later, the Ring Spirit’s voice echoed in his mind. "Are you ready?"
Cheng Zongyang gave a slight nod. "There is no such thing as being ready or not. Isn’t it better if everything just happens naturally?"
The Ring Spirit truly couldn’t see through this Clone of Cheng Zongyang. The way he spoke always felt a bit strange. It sounded like logic, but not quite, yet it constantly felt brimming with reason. It didn’t dwell on the matter and asked, "Do you have a specific destination in mind? Or will it be random?"
"Uncertainty is what brings surprises," Cheng Zongyang chuckled.
The Ring Spirit immediately absorbed the Clone into the Reincarnation Space of the Hall of Ten Thousand Races.
Through a newly established separate rule, the Ring Spirit preserved his physical body, stripped away his Divine Soul, and sealed his memories. It retained only a fraction of his comprehension of the Dao—and not much at that—before finally tossing him into Reincarnation.
At the exact moment the Clone’s Divine Soul entered Reincarnation, the main body emerged from seclusion.
"Did the Clone enter the Reincarnation Illusion Realm?" Cheng Zongyang asked.
The Ring Spirit replied, "He’s in. But is there any point to this Illusion Realm? It isn’t like reality."
Cheng Zongyang smiled. "His memories are sealed. Waking up in there, if you were him, would you think that world was an Illusion Realm? For us, the biggest advantage of the Reincarnation Illusion Realm is the controllability of time.
"If it were in reality, a single lifetime of Reincarnation could take nearly a hundred or a thousand years. We don’t have that kind of time.
"The Clone and I have discussed this. The Illusion Realm is only a process for him to gain comprehension, not the final result. Once he achieves entirely new insights, he will stop and then truly enter the mortal world to travel."
"Then why didn’t your Soul need to use it?" the Ring Spirit asked.
Speechless, Cheng Zongyang replied, "Soul is a beast, devoid of earthly attachments. Everything in the human world outside is enough for it to experience the myriad facets of life and the warmth and coldness of human nature, as well as to improve its strength. The Clone needs to comprehend everything to forge his own Dao. It’s a different direction from your Divine Dao."
"This process will take a long time, won’t it?" the Ring Spirit asked.
"A long time? What a joke!" Cheng Zongyang sneered. "With my complete comprehension, with my lifetime’s Cultivation, with my heaven-reaching wisdom, and my invincible aptitude..."
The Ring Spirit said, "...Sure enough, it’s still more interesting to talk to a thick-skinned guy like you. The Clone is far too boring."
Cheng Zongyang, "..."
...
Meanwhile, in the dreamlike space of the Reincarnation Illusion Realm, Cheng Zongyang’s Clone, in the state of a Soul Spirit, quietly entered an entirely unfamiliar world.
His consciousness gradually awakened from the chaos, as if slowly floating up from a bottomless abyss. His vision was blurred as he groggily opened his eyes.
At this moment, his mind was a complete blank. Relying solely on instinct, he timidly observed his surroundings.
He found himself being carefully held by a creature with a monkey’s face and a human’s body. The creature’s eyes were brimming with tears, and its voice carried a trace of choking helplessness:
"Li, its birth was a mistake. We shouldn’t have given birth to it."
Ape Father slowly shook his head, a hint of firmness and resolve shining in his eyes:
