Chapter 808: Chapter 401: The Demon Race Will Never Be Slaves

Hearing the elder’s words, an inexplicable emotion welled up in Cheng Zongyang’s heart. He looked at his exhausted kin around him, then gazed off into the distant horizon.

"Is it simply the strong preying on the weak?"

In the day-to-day grind of mining, Cheng Zongyang, his companions, and his younger brothers continued to grow up. Cheng Zongyang also used the physical labor to temper his Power.

But one day, when Cheng Zongyang’s father saw a close clansman beaten bloody and left on the verge of death by a Human Race overseer, the Ape Father could no longer hold back and stepped forward to help.

Seeing this, a ruthless glint flashed in the Human Race overseer’s eyes, and the whip in his hand lashed out toward the Ape Father like a venomous snake. Time and time again, the whip struck. The Ape Father’s body was instantly covered in bloody welts, yet he did not fight back. He simply endured it in silence.

Watching this unfold, the anger in Cheng Zongyang’s heart flared up with a WHOOSH. He clenched his fists, ready to charge forward and risk his life fighting the Human Race overseer.

Seeing this, the Ape Mother hastily grabbed him. With tears in her eyes, she pleaded, "Zongyang, don’t go! Rebellion will only bring more death."

Cheng Zongyang watched helplessly as his father was beaten black and blue, ultimately having to be carried home!

His heart brimmed with hatred. He didn’t understand why they had to endure such bullying from the Human Race. They were all living beings; why could the humans trample all over the Ape Race? How could the Ape Race become stronger?

That night, lying in bed, the Ape Father still managed to comfort Cheng Zongyang. "Child, don’t worry. Our Ape Race... will eventually find a way..."

Cheng Zongyang gritted his teeth. Tears welled up in his eyes, but he held them back.

A few years later, Cheng Zongyang reached adulthood. He had grown tall and robust, his entire body brimming with Power. Similarly, his companions and younger brothers had also grown extremely strong. In this way, they became the pillars of their respective households.

However, fate dealt him another heavy blow. One day, as Cheng Zongyang and the other younger generation members were carrying the ore they had mined that day to hand it over, the mine shaft suddenly collapsed. The sky-obscuring dust swept outward, alarming the Ape Demon clan and the Human Race overseers within a radius of hundreds of meters.

Cheng Zongyang’s father, mother, and nearly a hundred other clansmen were buried underground.

Burning with anxiety, Cheng Zongyang, his younger brother Hu, and a group of their companions grabbed their pickaxes and desperately dug through the rubble of the mine shaft, frantic to save their parents.

But the Human Race overseer brandished his whip to stop their rescue efforts, barking viciously, "If you beasts die, you die! Don’t delay the mining! This shaft is a lost cause!"

Hindered by the Human Race overseer, all the nearby clansmen ultimately failed to save their loved ones. They could only watch helplessly as their kin remained buried within the collapsed mine.

Cheng Zongyang’s heart was filled with anger and grief. The rage he had suppressed for years finally erupted like a volcano.

That night, in the dark and damp resting cave, Cheng Zongyang gathered his companions and clansmen. Flames of fury burned in his eyes as he roared in a low voice:

"Today, our loved ones died! The lives of ninety-eight of our kin were lost in that mine shaft!

"Now, do you still want to endure this?

"For hundreds of years, the Human Race has never treated us as living beings! They slaughter us as they please! In their eyes, we are no different from this bug!"

As Cheng Zongyang spoke, he pinched a beetle off the ground. With a ruthless expression, he crushed it until it POPPED, and continued, "This is us! Since we’re all going to die sooner or later anyway, why should we keep enduring this?!

"They are made of flesh and blood, and so are we! But we possess an advantage they cannot match in the short term!"

"What is it?" a companion beside Cheng Zongyang asked.

"Numbers! And we’re not afraid of death!" Cheng Zongyang replied. "Growing up, I’ve already figured it out. There are hundreds of thousands of our kin in this mountain range! Meanwhile, there are only a few thousand Human Race overseers!"

"But they have weapons and Magic!" someone retorted.

"But we have numbers! They can only target one of us at a time. If we coordinate and attack together in groups, it will be enough to pin them down and beat them to death!"

Not giving them any time or opportunity to ask further questions, Cheng Zongyang continued to growl, "We are the Ape Race! We are the Demon Race! We are also living creatures of heaven and earth! What right do they have to stand above us and enslave us? What right do they have to casually slaughter us? Why must we let them point at our noses and call us beasts?!"

With that, Cheng Zongyang grabbed the companion who had retorted, hauled him up from the ground, and roared at him, "Tell me right now! Are you a bug? Are you a lowly beast?!"

Instantly, the Ape Demon’s eyes turned red. He violently broke free from Cheng Zongyang’s grip and yelled, "I am not! I am Yong’s son, and I am a member of the Ape Race!!!"

Cheng Zongyang pointed at another person and angrily demanded, "So, do you want your descendants to live this kind of undignified, spineless life too?! To be slaughtered by the Human Race at their whim?!"

"No!!" This Ape Demon also stood up with a furious roar, violently pounding his chest.

"Tell me, do you want to be chopped to death by the Human Race in the future, dying a completely worthless death and becoming a disgrace to the Ape Demon clan?!"

"Never!!" A third Ape Demon stood up, throwing his arms toward the sky and bellowing to those on his left and right. "Absolutely never!!"

Another young member of the Ape Race stood up and excitedly declared, "Zongyang is right! We can’t let the Human Race bully us like this anymore! We must fight!"

"We can’t endure this any longer! We have to rebel and avenge our dead loved ones!" Cheng Zongyang’s younger brother, Hu, also raised his arm and roared.
