Chapter 1195: Peerless Security Guard Wang Qidan

  • Next Chapter

Right now, a continuously rotating Eight Trigrams sphere had appeared in Su Yue’s body. Half of it was refined from the Qi Blood Pill to replenish his Qi Blood, while the other half was refined from the pill that expelled impurities. This way, Su Yue would be able to cultivate peacefully for a period of time without having to worry about Qi Blood Pills.

When bidding farewell, Su Yue offered to pay for the master’s services. However, the master firmly refused, stating that if Su Yue gave him money, it would be an insult to him and to Su Qingfeng. Ultimately, Su Yue could only take his leave with profound gratitude.

To be honest, this trip had been very touching. When the master helped others condense Qi Blood Pills, he produced standard Qi Blood Pills. But when helping Su Yue, he had used a more advanced Eight Trigrams condensing technique, which had left the master exhausted. During the process, Su Yue had asked if he could learn this technique. Unfortunately, the master had only acquired it through a stroke of luck in his youth and did not have a systematic method for teaching it. In the end, Su Yue could only give up on the idea.

Leaving the office building, Su Yue put his hat and mask back on and found a hotel in the city to stay the night. Early the next morning, he would head to Dongdu City to look for that retired Martial Artist who trained in dagger techniques.

Wang Qidan.

This bizarre name belonged to the peerless assassin Li Yongjun had mentioned. In this day and age, such unconventional names were actually quite rare.

Li Yongjun had already made an appointment with Wang Qidan in advance for Su Yue. According to Li Yongjun’s information, although Wang Qidan had retired, he was still an honorary academician of the Research Institute, holding a rank no lower than a deputy section chief. One had to understand that in the Divine Land, such a title required remarkable research achievements. Master Wang Qidan was no simple figure either.

The night passed silently.

At noon the next day, Su Yue finally arrived in Dongdu City and found the Research Institute. He had contacted Yan Dongyan beforehand; since it was rare for him to visit the Research Institute, he wanted to drop by and visit Teacher Yan. However, Yan Dongyan was currently in Nandu City. The combat techniques department wanted to look for inspiration at the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge to try and research some new techniques. Although it was a bit regrettable, they could only meet next time.

“Hello, I’m looking for Master Wang Qidan. Please help me register.”

Outside the gatehouse of the Research Institute sat a slouching security guard. Su Yue felt it was a bit strange. This was the Research Institute. Even though it wasn’t located in the center of Dongdu City and had a restricted zone further out—preventing ordinary people from coming within five kilometers—the main entrance should at least have some semblance of prestige. The security forces five kilometers away were far superior to this gatehouse guard.

It was one thing for the guard to be old, but with his hat tilted awry, wearing slippers, and his shirt buttons fastened all crooked, he looked just like a street ruffian. Su Yue peered through the security mesh. He hadn’t come to the wrong place. Row upon row of buildings lined the courtyard, and though they looked a bit old, this was indeed the Research Institute. But this security guard just felt completely off.

“Su Yue?

“You’re Su Qingfeng’s son?

“What do you want with Wang Qidan? If you have any gifts for him, just leave them here for now.” The security guard looked Su Yue up and down.

Addressing his father by his full name… that finally gave off a bit of a Research Institute vibe. But Su Yue hadn’t brought any gifts for Wang Qidan, making the question a little awkward.

“I don’t have any gifts. Please just let him know that I have business with Master Wang Qidan,” Su Yue urged.

“You come asking for a favor and you didn’t even bring anything? Do you have any manners at all? Go back, Master Wang Qidan isn’t seeing guests today,” the guard said, waving him off impatiently.

“This… you haven’t even notified him. How do you know Master Wang Qidan is busy?” Su Yue frowned. Even though the Research Institute was heavily guarded, they shouldn’t be this irresponsible. This security guard was an absolute joke.

“Wang Qidan, we need one more for Mahjong. Are you coming or not? What else can you possibly pawn this time?

“Oh, Wang Qidan, no wonder you were in such a hurry to take your post today. So you were trying to trick some young man into offering up tributes again. You’ve completely disgraced the security team.”

Just then, another slouching security guard walked out from the back door.

At this moment, Su Yue finally understood why Master Wang Qidan wasn’t available. This peerless security guard right in front of him was none other than Master Wang Qidan himself.

Asking for gifts on his own behalf? This master was bizarre enough, but the fact that he was the gatehouse guard for the Research Institute was even more bizarre. They needed one more for Mahjong? Were they really playing Mahjong while on duty? Were security guards nowadays all this laid-back?

“Don’t go bossing people around just because you won my position as the security captain! My Wealth-Bringing Boy is here. Just wait until I extort some starting capital from him, and you’ll see how I make my comeback,” Wang Qidan cursed impatiently.

Su Yue remained expressionless. He thought, “Sir, the Wealth-Bringing Boy is standing right in front of you. Do you really not need to show some restraint? You’re openly planning to extort me, and you even said it out loud. Should I just fall for it right away, or should I follow the standard procedure and question it first? And furthermore, can the position of security captain really be won and lost in a game? Just what kind of team is this?”

“Kid, I know your dad very well. I also know you want to learn a dagger combat technique, and I’ve seen the dagger Li Yongjun gave you.

“To tell you the truth, the combat technique is already prepared. Now, let’s see your sincerity.” Wang Qidan pulled a greasy USB flash drive from his pocket.

“And by sincerity, you mean?” Su Yue licked his lips. His instincts told him that things wouldn’t be simple.

“Wang Qidan owes me over thirty million,” the security captain from earlier said.

“He owes me sixty million! The damn old geezer scammed me out of my life savings,” another guard chimed in.

“Wang Qidan lost a thirty-million IOU to me. It’s time to settle the bill,” a third voice added.
