Chapter 352 -193: Advancement! Secret Contact

Once the bandaging was done, Wan Ze stood up to leave.

He walked to the door, then turned around as if remembering something. “Oh right, Brother Jia, keep a close eye on Xiao Yunkai. If you really have to let him go, let me know.”

Zhai Jia was putting away the first-aid kit. At these words, his hands paused. He looked up, a hint of realization in his eyes. “Are you saying that kid… is trouble?”

Wan Ze shook his head. “I’m still looking into it. I’ll let you know if I find anything. I’m off.”

“Not staying for lunch? Brother Yu should be out of his meeting around noon,” Zhai Jia said, putting the first-aid kit back in its drawer and straightening up.

“No, I still have to train.” Wan Ze had already pulled the door open.

Zhai Jia watched his retreating back and sighed. “Alright then. Be careful on your way.”

Wan Ze had arrived in a hurry, and he left in a hurry.

Outside the main entrance of the office building, a military green jeep was parked. The license plate was no ordinary one; it was white with black text and started with “Holy J,” the special prefix for the Police Headquarters.

In Holy City, vehicles like this had special clearance. They could bypass queues and registration, gaining direct entry to many places.

The driver stood by the car. He was in his early thirties and wore a dark jacket. His posture was perfect—back ramrod straight, hands hanging naturally at his sides along the seams of his pants. A single glance told you he had a military background.

When he saw Wan Ze come out, he pulled open the car door and made an inviting gesture. “Mr. Wan, Captain Zhai asked me to drive you back.”

Wan Ze thanked him and ducked into the car.

The car’s interior was spotless. A bottle of mineral water and a pack of tissues sat on the center console. The faint scent of an air freshener hung in the air.

The driver started the car.

Soon, the car pulled smoothly out of the gate and merged into the traffic on the main road.

It was quiet inside the car. The driver was steady, his acceleration and deceleration both smooth, without any uncomfortable lurching.

Wan Ze leaned back in his seat, turning his head to watch the streetscape outside. The streets flew backward past the window, leaving pedestrians and cyclists behind.

About five minutes later, the car stopped at a red light.

Wan Ze glanced at the driver and asked casually, “Is the training usually tiring?”

The driver was taken aback for a moment, likely not expecting Wan Ze to start a conversation. He thought for a moment before replying, “It’s not.”

Wan Ze nodded and didn’t ask anything else.

The car fell silent again.

The light turned green. The driver smoothly released the brake, and the car glided forward without any lurching.

Wan Ze leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes to rest. The light outside the window shifted constantly as the car moved.

About twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the martial arts hall.

Wan Ze opened his eyes, glanced out the window, and confirmed they had arrived.

“Thanks,” Wan Ze said, pushing open the car door to get out.

“You’re too kind, Mr. Wan.” The driver turned his head, his attitude deferential. “I’m just carrying out Captain Zhai’s instructions. It’s all part of the job.”

Wan Ze got out, closed the door, and nodded at the driver.

The driver gave him a slight nod in return, then started the car and sped away.

Wan Ze stood and watched the jeep disappear around the corner before turning and walking through the main gate of the martial arts hall.

…

…

Before he knew it, the sky had turned completely dark. The old-fashioned incandescent lamp in the martial arts hall’s courtyard was on, casting a dim, yellowish light.

From the street beyond the courtyard walls, the occasional meow of a cat could be heard.

“WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!”

The sound of slicing air came from the training room, one strike after another, each one exceptionally sharp, as if someone were cracking a whip in the air.

Suddenly, the pace quickened.

“CRACK!!!”

The final sound was like a clap of thunder, so loud that the shadow cast on the wall trembled with it.

The sound stopped abruptly.

Wan Ze froze, his legs switching from high-speed motion to complete stillness in an instant. He was rooted to the spot on one leg, utterly motionless.

He slowly retracted his leg. As the sole of his foot touched the ground, his center of gravity naturally sank, and his feet returned to a shoulder-width stance.

His chest heaved violently, his breaths deep and ragged, but he didn’t bend over. He just stood there, perfectly straight, letting his breathing return to normal on its own.

“Success!”

Wan Ze’s voice echoed in the training room.

The moment he lifted his right leg, he threw another Whip Leg, his limb carving an arc through the air.

‘It feels different from before.’

‘It’s like a machine that has been precisely calibrated; the coordination between every part is a level smoother than before.’

He retracted his leg, kicked again, and retracted it again.

After trying it a few more times, Wan Ze finally relaxed, his face flushed with excitement.

His gaze swept to the data frame in his mind, one that only he could see.

…

[Illustrated Guide: Mountain-Splitting Whip Leg (High Level Mastered)]

[New Effect: Reverse Spin Force (The Whip Leg can use Vortex Force to pull back in reverse, allowing for a rapid retraction and change of move to evade enemy counterattacks and connect to the next form) (Physical Strength +0.05; Agility +0.03; Endurance +0.05; Power +0.05; Coordination +0.05.)]

[Skill Special Level Requirement: Practice Leg Technique 50,000 times]

…

Wan Ze stared at the description of the Reverse Spin Force Effect for a couple of seconds, lost in thought as he calculated how this new effect could be used in actual combat.

‘A traditional Whip Leg has a fatal flaw.’

‘After you kick, if your opponent dodges or blocks it, your leg will continue to swing forward due to inertia. Those few tenths of a second it takes to retract it are when you’re most vulnerable.’

‘In a fight between experts, a few tenths of a second is more than enough time for an opponent to unleash a full combo.’

‘But Reverse Spin Force solves this problem.’

‘It uses the natural rotational inertia generated by the leg when executing a Whip Leg. After the kick reaches its apex, instead of forcefully yanking it back, you follow the Vortex Force to create a reverse pull.’

‘It’s like cracking a whip—if you flick it at the very end of the motion, the tip will snap back on its own. This way, the leg’s retraction speed can be increased by at least thirty percent. Plus, by the time it’s retracted, the leg is already prepared for the next attack, allowing for a seamless transition into the next form.’
