Chapter 357 -194: The Backer Is Here! Try Shouting Now

Dong Hui’s expression darkened completely.

His eyes narrowed, and his jaw tightened slightly.

He stared at Supervisor Zheng for two seconds before letting out a cold laugh. “Zheng, are you just trying to start something? I have to notify you just to bring someone along? And this whole registration nonsense—you know damn well who that song and dance is for, don’t you?”

His words were tantamount to tearing away all pretenses.

Beside them, Boss Qu’s expression shifted slightly. He frantically tried to signal with his eyes, but Dong Hui was too furious to pay him any mind.

Upon hearing this, the corner of Supervisor Zheng’s mouth curled up. He wasn’t angry or flustered. He even nodded slightly, as if affirming Dong Hui’s reaction, and said unhurriedly, “Boss Dong, listen to yourself. Rules are rules. I didn’t make them, and you didn’t either. I’m responsible for order in this area. If someone breaks the rules, I can’t just pretend I didn’t see it, can I?”

He paused, his gaze sweeping over Wan Ze. “Besides, this one… I’ve never seen him before. It’s not safe out there these days. You can’t just bring any random person in here. If something were to happen, who would take responsibility? Can you, Boss Dong, bear that burden?”

This made Dong Hui even more furious.

His grudge with Supervisor Zheng didn’t start today.

The conflict had escalated last week at the black market auction.

There was a real treasure that day: a thousand-year-old Dragon Gazing Sword. It was in excellent condition, the patterns on its blade still clearly visible. It was said to have been the personal sword of some great figure from the past.

The moment the sword was revealed, the buyers in attendance were driven into a frenzy. The price shot up from three hundred thousand to eight hundred thousand.

Dong Hui was bidding on behalf of a patron.

That patron was determined to acquire the sword and had given Dong Hui an authorized budget of one million.

Dong Hui had planned to win it for around eight hundred thousand to save his patron some money.

But Supervisor Zheng had his own agenda.

Supervisor Zheng wasn’t a buyer. He was one of the parties responsible for maintaining order at the auction, ensuring it ran smoothly.

But his “maintenance” was biased.

He’d accepted a favor from another buyer and was supposed to help them suppress the price and win the item. So, while Dong Hui was bidding, he used various methods to interfere, delay, and create chaos, hoping to make Dong Hui’s bid come in a beat too slow and let the other buyer snag the item for less.

But Dong Hui didn’t fall for it.

Not only did he not fall for it, but at the most critical moment, he directly shouted a bid of one million, winning the Dragon Gazing Sword in one fell swoop.

Supervisor Zheng’s buyer could only watch helplessly as the item was sold to someone else.

And Supervisor Zheng held Dong Hui responsible for it.

The incident caused him to lose face within his circle.

His “abilities” were called into question. People started whispering behind his back that he “couldn’t even handle one fat guy.”

For someone like Supervisor Zheng, who lived and died by his reputation, such doubts were worse than losing money.

So, from that day on, he had it in for Dong Hui.

Whenever Dong Hui appeared at the black market, he would look for trouble.

Today’s “bringing someone in without registering” was just another pretext he could use.

At this moment, Supervisor Zheng stood before Dong Hui, a smile playing on his lips. His arrogance was so blatant it was as if he were openly taunting, ‘What can you do to me?’

The two bodyguards behind him stood like twin mountains, their gazes silently boring down.

Dong Hui took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled.

He knew he was no match for Supervisor Zheng.

The problem was, on this street, Supervisor Zheng didn’t make the rules—but he was the one who enforced them.

He could create endless trouble for you, and there was nothing you could do about it.

What made the situation even more frustrating for Dong Hui was that he couldn’t drag Wan Ze into this.

Boss Zhao himself had given the instructions. He had said that this “Mr. Wang’s” identity could not be exposed, not be registered, and no record of him could be left behind.

Dong Hui didn’t know what “Mr. Wang’s” background was, but he had to honor Boss Zhao’s request and see this task through.

But Supervisor Zheng had seized upon this exact point—the “no registration”—as leverage.

Dong Hui ground his back teeth, his mind racing as he searched for a solution that would protect Wan Ze without completely blowing up his relationship with Supervisor Zheng.

But after three seconds of thought, he came up blank.

Just then, Supervisor Zheng waved a hand toward the men behind him.

One of the two bodyguards stepped forward and walked toward Wan Ze.

He stopped in front of Wan Ze, looking down at the young man in the flat cap and mask, and said with a blank expression,

“Sir, please come with us.”

Dong Hui’s face changed, and his voice shot up. “Zheng! Don’t you go too far! If you have a problem, you deal with me! Don’t you touch my guy!”

Supervisor Zheng watched this scene with a grin. He pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, slowly drew one out, and stuck it in his mouth, but didn’t light it.

“Boss Dong, listen to yourself. I’m just asking him to come register, to go through the proper procedure. We’ll let him go as soon as he’s registered. We’re not detaining him, so what’s the rush?”

He said it so casually, but Dong Hui knew that once Wan Ze was taken away to be registered, his identity, name, and appearance would all be put on file.

Not only would he be unable to answer to Boss Zhao, but leaving “Mr. Wang’s” information in the black market’s archives would be like handing Supervisor Zheng a weapon. In the future, whenever Supervisor Zheng wanted to put the screws to Dong Hui, he could use this to blackmail him.

Dong Hui took a step forward, trying to get between the bodyguard and Wan Ze, but the other bodyguard impassively shuffled sideways, perfectly blocking his path.

The two men, one in front and one behind, had separated Dong Hui and Wan Ze.

Sweat beaded on Dong Hui’s forehead.

Wan Ze stood his ground, motionless.

His gaze traveled past the bodyguard in front of him, landing on Supervisor Zheng.
