Chapter 358 -194: The Backing Is Here! Keep Shouting

The man was still smiling.

Wan Ze sighed under his breath.

‘That bastard Zhao Henian really screwed this up!’

‘He said everything was arranged. He said there wouldn’t be any problems. And what happens? I haven’t even fully entered the black market and I’m already being blocked by some damn supervisor.’

‘I knew I shouldn’t have believed Zhao Henian’s bullshit. “I’ll arrange it,” he said. He arranged a whole lot of nothing.’

Wan Ze ignored the man and reached out to touch the Eight-Cut Blade. A cold sensation spread through his hand… ‘Even if this comes to blows, I might as well get something out of it first.’

“Sir!” Seeing that Wan Ze was ignoring him and was instead fiddling with the antique, the bodyguard’s expression darkened, and he started to step forward.

Just then, a voice came from the doorway.

“It’s quite lively in here.”

The voice wasn’t loud. It was calm, even carrying a hint of an old man’s languor.

But the moment those words were spoken, the air in the shop seemed to thicken, and everyone’s movements slowed by half a beat.

Boss Qu and the others hurriedly looked toward the entrance.

An old man walked in.

He looked to be in his seventies. He wasn’t tall—short, even, at a little over five-foot-three—and wore a Mao suit, its buttons done up neatly. An unfamiliar pin was fastened to his collar.

The old man’s hair was completely white, but it was thick and neatly combed. The wrinkles on his face were deep and distinct, yet his complexion was ruddy—not at all what you’d expect from someone his age.

He didn’t walk fast—in fact, you could even say he walked slowly. But strangely, with his first step he was at the doorway, with his second he was in the middle of the shop, and by his third he was standing before the crowd.

Nearly everyone’s eyes twitched in shock.

It wasn’t an illusion, but rather the result of extreme control over distance and speed.

Each of the old man’s steps was perfectly steady, his stride and rhythm consistent. To an onlooker, however, his movement speed seemed to be twice that of a normal walk.

This was something only achievable by one who had trained their physical control to the absolute limit.

Wan Ze narrowed his eyes… ‘A master! A very powerful one!’

The atmosphere in the shop changed in an instant.

Boss Qu was the first to react, his expression a mixture of reverence and even a touch of terror.

He hurried forward to greet him, bowing even lower than he had for Supervisor Zheng. With a heartfelt reverence, he said, “Uncle Dou! Please, sir, have a seat! Have a seat!”

As he spoke, Boss Qu pulled out a grand chair from behind the counter and dusted off its surface with his sleeve.

Dong Hui’s reaction was no less dramatic.

He looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. He froze for a second, then his eyes shot wide open and his jaw dropped. In an instant, his expression shifted from stifled frustration to utter shock.

He never would have imagined, not in a million years, that this man would show up, especially not at a time like this.

“Uncle Dou!” Dong Hui greeted him hurriedly.

Supervisor Zheng’s reaction was the most interesting of all.

His face, which had been full of smug amusement, froze the moment he saw Uncle Dou.

The cigarette dangling from his lips slipped out, fell to the floor, and rolled twice.

His back bent unconsciously, and his gaze shifted away from Uncle Dou’s face, not daring to look at him directly. When he accidentally saw the pin on Uncle Dou’s chest, his heart sank, and a dreadful feeling washed over him.

“Un… Uncle Dou.” Supervisor Zheng’s voice had changed completely; his previous bold, resonant tone had vanished.

Uncle Dou glanced at him.

It was just a glance, with no extra emotion—just a simple, ordinary look.

But Supervisor Zheng looked as if a great weight had been pressed down on him. His shoulders visibly slumped, and beads of sweat popped out on his forehead at a speed visible to the naked eye.

“Xiaozheng, what are you doing here?” Uncle Dou’s voice still held that languid tone, but when Supervisor Zheng heard the question, his legs went weak.

“Uncle Dou, I… I…” Supervisor Zheng was tongue-tied, stammering, “I was dealing with a violation… someone bringing in a person without registering…”

As he spoke, he started to point a finger in Wan Ze’s direction, but he pulled his hand back halfway, as if afraid the gesture itself would bring disaster upon him.

Uncle Dou followed his gesture and glanced at Wan Ze.

Then, Uncle Dou looked away from Wan Ze and back at Supervisor Zheng. “I forgot to tell you. Mr. Wang is a distinguished guest I invited.”

Uncle Dou continued, looking at Supervisor Zheng again. “Should I register him for you? Hmm?”

The moment that final “Hmm?” left his lips, it was as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over Supervisor Zheng’s head, chilling him from the tips of his hair to the soles of his feet.

“Ah?” Supervisor Zheng froze, the sound from his throat seeming as if someone had him by the neck.

He opened his mouth, his eyes wide. His expression shifted from terror to a blank daze. His brain seemed to short-circuit in that instant, all the new information jamming together, impossible to process.

‘Oh, f*ck!’

‘I’m so screwed!!!!’
