Chapter 6712: Am I Dreaming?

Jie Tianran had asked about Chu Feng first instead of his missing subordinates. It was the worst-case scenario for him—God’s Era had stopped right before the phenomenon that seemed inexplicably linked to Chu Feng.

And he could sense the location of Chu Feng’s sword key; Chu Feng was in the area.

Yet, he couldn’t find Chu Feng anywhere.

“Mansion Master, you seem more concerned about Chu Feng despite having lost so many subordinates. Your people must not hold any weight in your heart,” Baili Xukong remarked from the bottom of his heart.

He noticed that Jie Tianran was angry but not upset. Even his anger was driven by Baili Xukong’s betrayal and not the deaths of his subordinates.

“Have you been making use of me, Baili Xukong?” Jie Tianran asked.

“You have been using us as well. Our interests merely aligned then,” Baili Xukong replied.

“Hah...” Jie Tianran sneered. “I see you harbor wild ambitions, but are you able to shoulder the weight?”

He formed a hand seal.

The faces of Baili Xukong and the others distorted, and they writhed in pain. Moments later, most Netherworld Sectmembers froze in place and stopped moving. Only Baili Xukong and a few other Netherworld Marshals continued to struggle.

Soon, Jimo Qianzhou, Wuma Hanshuang, and the neutral elders stopped moving as well. Even Baili Xukong didn’t last long before standing completely still.

The entire Netherworld Sect stood perfectly still like statues, maintaining their last positions. They only retained movement over their eyeballs. Some were horrified, whereas others were infuriated.

“Oh? I didn’t expect the Netherworld Sect to be so good at acting,” Eggy said while chuckling.

The Netherworld Sectmembers’ gu poison had been lifted. They were merely following Chu Feng’s instructions. Even at this instant, Chu Feng was intently observing Jie Tianran’s hand seals, analyzing the latter’s intention and relaying instructions to the Netherworld Sectmembers to let them know how they should react.

Oblivious to the truth, Jie Tianran smirked in glee.

“Did you think that I wouldn’t prepare a hand against you? Even if you didn’t betray me, I’d have still turned you all into my puppets.”

Jie Tianran changed his hand seal, and the Netherworld Sectmembers could no longer move their eyes.

“Speak, Baili Xukong. Where did Chu Feng go?” Jie Tianran asked.

“He entered the phenomenon,” Baili Xukong replied.

“The gate isn’t open yet. How can he enter the phenomenon?”

“He opened a spirit formation gate. It’s right there.” Baili Xukong pointed to a location not too far away. Of course, he was just saying whatever Chu Feng told him to.

Jie Tianran feared Chu Feng; that was evident in how his very first question upon arriving was about Chu Feng’s whereabouts. Chu Feng knew that and was using it to lure Jie Tianran closer.

And Jie Tianran, confident in his gu poison, didn’t doubt Baili Xukong’s words.

God’s Era had stopped a considerable distance away. To get to the spirit formation gate as quickly as possible, Jie Tianran unleashed the full prowess of his spirit power and plastered a talisman paper on himself to further raise his speed.

While making his way over, he took out another talisman paper to construct an observation formation. The formation was completed before he arrived at his destination. He adjusted the observation formation to lock onto the location pinpointed by Baili Xukong.

He didn’t pay any attention to Baili Xukong and the others; his focus was solely on the observation formation.

“Elder, please help me take a look. Why can’t I see anything peculiar about the spirit formation gate?”

Jie Tianran continued to examine the spirit formation gate while making his way closer. To his dismay, he was unable to find any hidden formations in the area, so he sought help from the old entity inside him.

Boom!

Just then, a deluge of blood-red aura instantly crashed down on Jie Tianran like a vast ocean.

It was the head formation constructed by the Netherworld Sect! Its mouth had opened and was unleashing a powerful beam of blood-red aura, but the beam was so much wider than a human body that it resembled a vast ocean.

Jie Tianran’s observation formation instantly disintegrated before this power, but Jie Tianran remained safe and sound.

Countless runes floated around him, forming a barrier.

“A protective means? That old thing is indeed not that easy to deal with.” Chu Feng was not surprised by the failure of the ambush, though he still felt regretful.

The Netherworld Sect’s ambush was a success, but Jie Tianran had too many formidable treasures on him.

Shoosh!

Jie Tianran flung his sleeve. A powerful surge of spirit power gushed out like a tsunami, dissipating the blood-red aura shrouding him. But by then, the rune barrier protecting him had already started to crack.

He quickly reached into his robe to pull out a round token.

This token emanated the Ancient Era’s aura, and the runes inscribed on it were identical to the ones on the barrier. However, it was cracked just like the barrier.

As Chu Feng had guessed, this was Jie Tianran’s life-preservation means. It would automatically activate when Jie Tianran was faced with a lethal attack to protect him, but like the Heaven Protection Shield Spirit, it could only be used once.

Jie Tianran didn’t expect to lose his secret hand just like that. His unease and worry had vanished in the face of sheer rage. Intense killing intent flared from him, distorting the surrounding space. It was as if the god of massacre had descended upon the world.

“You lifted my gu poison,” Jie Tianran hissed through gritted teeth.

Despite Jie Tianran’s murderous glare, Baili Xukong and the Netherworld Sect stood unfazed. Their eyes flared with killing intent as well.

“Jie Tianran, I’ll tell you the truth. We didn’t plan to turn against the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. We had to kill your people because we had no choice but to do so. The person whom you desperately wanted to eliminate is our Netherworld Sect’s young master,” Baili Xukong said.

Those words made Jie Tianran’s reddened eyes clear once more. What he had heard was so ridiculous that he wondered if he had heard wrongly. He simply had to seek confirmation.

“What did you just say? Who is your young master?”

“Chu Feng is our Netherworld Sect’s young master,” Baili Xukong declared.

Jie Tianran’s eyes flickered. No one could tell what he was thinking, but his expression made it clear that his mind was rattled. What he said next reflected that.

“Am I dreaming?”
