"Vers, who’s this?"

Yon-Rogg still had no idea Carol had regained her memories. Looking at the smug grin plastered across Daniel’s face, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

That smile... It reminded him of a cat staring at a mouse.

"He’s my little brother," Carol answered calmly.

"Your brother?"

Yon-Rogg frowned.

"You came to C-53 and adopted a native?"

"My biological brother."

Carol’s answer was simple.

"...Biological?"

He blinked in confusion.

"But your family was killed by the Skrulls long ago. How could, "

His eyes suddenly widened.

"Wait... You recovered your memories?"

"You finally figured it out?"

Carol’s voice was ice cold.

Seeing the expression on her face, Yon-Rogg no longer had any doubts. She remembered everything.

"Vers, you..."

"My name is Carol Danvers."

She cut him off without hesitation.

"Not Vers."

Yon-Rogg fell silent for a moment before letting out a slow breath.

"Very well... Carol, but you shouldn’t have come back to this planet."

"You are Kree property, and you only belong to the Kree Empire."

"There’s nowhere you can run, and once we eliminate the Skrulls here, the Supreme Intelligence will see you again, your past should remain blank."

He glanced around at Earth before speaking indifferently.

"As for this planet, it no longer has any reason to exist. As long as it survives, one day it’ll help you recover your memories again."

"So congratulations. You’ve doomed everyone on this world."

Since Carol already knew the truth, Yon-Rogg dropped the friendly act entirely. Pretending to be a patient mentor every day had been exhausting. As, deep down Kree warriors were cold by nature.

Daniel chuckled.

"That’s a pretty big claim."

"So, according to you..."

"I’m about to die?"

"Of course."

Yon-Rogg smiled confidently.

"I like that you’re self-aware. I was starting to appreciate you, but I really hate that smile of yours."

"So... Sorry."

He slowly raised his energy pistol and aimed it directly at Daniel. He glanced toward Carol.

"Vers..."

"No."

"Carol."

"I’m actually looking forward to seeing your reaction when your brother dies right in front of you."

He looked completely in control of the situation, as though everyone’s fate was already in his hands.

"You know..."

Carol suddenly spoke.

"I’ve always hated you."

During the years she spent on Hala, she had challenged Yon-Rogg countless times. Thanks to the extraordinary strength granted by her powers, she had beaten him flat more times than either of them could count.

Back then, Yon-Rogg had always forced himself to smile, pretending not to care. But the humiliation had piled up over the years, so he’d wanted revenge for a long time.

Now, he believed his chance had finally arrived. This time, he was fully equipped. With all of his combat gear, he believed he could fight Carol on equal footing. As for Daniel, the rest of Starforce could deal with one ordinary human without any difficulty.

After all, at first glance, Daniel looked like nothing more than a muscular young man standing there lazily. Their combat scanners had already analyzed him.

Species: Human.

Threat Level: None.

Ironically, had Yon-Rogg arrived just two days earlier and scanned Daniel then Starforce would’ve probably fled immediately.

Back then, Daniel hadn’t fully mastered his power. His overwhelming strength leaked naturally, and any scanner would’ve displayed something along the lines of.

EXTREME DANGER.

RECOMMEND IMMEDIATE RETREAT.

Now, however, Daniel had complete control over every ounce of his power. Unless he chose to reveal it, he looked no different from an ordinary man from Earth.

Carol glanced sideways at Daniel after hearing Yon-Rogg’s threat. Then, she smiled.

"It’s fine."

"Go ahead, just kill him."

"I’ve wanted to beat him to death myself."

Yon-Rogg frowned. Something about that response didn’t sound right.

’Do they have some kind of family feud?’

He didn’t think too deeply about it. Either way, this human had already seen them. He was doomed from the moment they landed. Besides, once they finished here, they were going to destroy the entire planet anyway.

If the man died first, he’d suffer a little less and he had politely welcomed them to Earth earlier. Sure, that smile had been irritating, but since he’d been so courteous, Yon-Rogg decided he’d return the favor by giving him a quick death.

Maybe Carol’s just bluffing. Without another thought, he pulled the trigger. A beam of blue energy shot straight towards Daniel’s heart.

Nothing happened, not even his shirt was damaged. Daniel remained standing there with the exact same smile.

"Is that a toy gun?"

"Why’s it so weak?"

"Come on. I thought you were going to kill me."

Yon-Rogg stared in disbelief. Nobody understood the power of that pistol better than he did. It had been specially modified, even the reinforced alloy plating of a spacecraft could be pierced from fifty millimeters away without any trouble.

Yet now, it couldn’t even put a hole in this man’s clothes? A terrible feeling rose inside him, this is bad.

"Battle formation!"

Yon-Rogg shouted immediately as he searched for cover. Daniel and Carol simply stood there quietly, watching Starforce arrange themselves into combat formation.

"You guys ready?"

Daniel asked with a grin.

"Then I’m coming."

No one answered. Instead, they opened fire. An endless barrage of energy blasts poured towards Daniel and Carol. Neither of them bothered moving.

Why dodge? The attacks couldn’t even scratch them and just walking forward took less effort.

"Yon-Rogg is mine," Daniel said.

Carol nodded.

"Don’t kill him."

"I still need him alive."

"As for everyone else, do whatever you want."

She simply stood off to one side and watched. After spending six years as teammates, she still had some feelings left. She had no desire to personally kill them.

Daniel calmly walked forward through the storm of laser fire. The Starforce squad immediately activated their energy barrier. A transparent shield materialized before them. Daniel reached out and knocked on it with his knuckles.

Knock. Knock.

The shield gave off a dull sound, he tilted his head curiously.

"Is this thing sturdy?"

Without answering, the squad continued firing while slowly retreating. They could all feel it now, things had completely slipped out of their control.

This wasn’t how the mission was supposed to go. This was supposed to be some forgotten, underdeveloped backwater planet.

The Kree Empire barely acknowledged its existence, it was remote, poor and worthless. So where had this monster come from?

"Don’t run."

Daniel smiled brightly.

"Let this primitive little native experience the advanced technology of the glorious Kree Empire."

"I’m really curious. Let’s see just how tough your shields are."

The squad retreated even faster.

Daniel sighed.

"No sense talking anymore."

He threw a casual punch.

Boom!

The energy shield shattered instantly. The Kree soldier standing behind it, shattered right along with it. Blue blood splattered across the ground.

Daniel nodded thoughtfully.

"So, not very sturdy after all."

"Does corruption exist in the mighty Kree Empire?"

"What kind of defective equipment did they issue you?"

"Your guns can’t kill anyone and your shields can’t protect anyone. That’s just criminal negligence."

As he spoke, he casually threw punch after punch.

One strike.

One dead.

Within seconds, every member of Starforce was dead. Everyone, except Yon-Rogg.

Blue blood stained the battlefield. Yon-Rogg continued resisting desperately, as he ran, he used his equipment to manipulate massive chunks of rock, hurling them towards Daniel one after another.

He didn’t expect the attacks to hurt him. He only wanted to slow Daniel down long enough to reach his ship. At last, he made it aboard. Without wasting a second, he started the engines. Just before liftoff, his voice echoed through the loudspeakers.

"I’ve already informed the Accuser Fleet!"

"C-53 will soon be wiped from existence!"

"Just stay here and wait to die!"

He had barely finished celebrating, when...

BOOM!!

A shadow dropped from the sky. Daniel came crashing down from above. His foot punched straight through the spacecraft’s hull as though it were made of paper. He reached inside, grabbed Yon-Rogg by the leg, and dragged him back out. Holding him upside down, Daniel smiled.

"Do you know..."

"After hearing everything my sister went through..."

"Do you know what I’ve wanted to do to you?"

He didn’t wait for an answer. Grabbing Yon-Rogg by one leg, Daniel began smashing him into the ground over and over.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Even Carol couldn’t bear watching anymore, not because she pitied Yon-Rogg. She pitied the poor ground, it had already been smashed into two enormous craters.

After the relentless beating, Yon-Rogg was somehow still alive, just barely. His vision spun wildly, every bone in his body felt like it had been crushed. Daniel lifted him back into the air.

"I’m not going to kill you."

"This..."

He smiled.

"...is only the beginning."

"The Accuser Fleet is coming, right?"

"Good."

"I’ll destroy them right in front of you. Then I’ll drag you all the way to Hala."

"And right in front of your eyes... I’ll destroy your Supreme Intelligence."

He looked directly into Yon-Rogg’s battered face.

"What do you think?"

"I’m much kinder than you. I don’t go around destroying entire planets just because I feel like it."

Dangling helplessly from Daniel’s hand, Yon-Rogg didn’t know why, but for the first time, he genuinely believed Daniel could do exactly what he had just promised.

Which meant, when Ronan’s Accuser Fleet arrived... they were probably the next ones about to have a very bad day. Then another thought crossed his mind.

Well, if I’m already this unlucky... Having someone else suffer with me doesn’t sound too bad. A faint, miserable smile almost appeared on his swollen face.

If we’re going down... then we’re all going down together.
