Chapter 2946: 2946. Perfumes

"Hello there! Ah! Miss Alice, you are back already?" It appeared that the perfume maker was very happy to see Alice but also curious as to why she would be back so soon. She had already given her perfume recently so she wouldn’t expect that Alice would return for more.

"I am, my little sister in law would like to smell a few of the scents you are creating. I also brought my husband and his little brother so you can show them what we may wish for as gifts in the future."

The way that Alice spoke was a bit higher pitched and a bit too teasing. It seemed like she was showing off a bit of a new side of herself here. It almost felt like Su and Remey had been spending a bit too much time with her. Or maybe this was Alma’s influence.

Regardless of that, the shelves of ingredients and perfumes still captivated Midnight, Walker, and Onyx. There were so many options that it seemed to be impossible for anyone to choose anything let alone understand what every single one did or was made from.

"Then I will need to talk them all through this." the woman who made every perfume that they were looking at stood tall. She was wearing slim purple robes that appeared to be made with water resistant tempering on the fabric. The rune sewn look seemed to repel manas which was interesting. But for her, it would most likely help keep the mana from the production from affecting her skills.

She was also wearing thin gloves made from the sap of a few trees and dried in to an almost rubbery material. This would protect her skin from dangerous aspects of some of the herbs before she processed them. Not to mention that she also had a small mask hanging from her neck that she could wear to keep her from breathing anything in. The herbs within that mask were naturally antidotal and a skill to resist such risks would do all the more to work with that.

It seemed that her shop was new, but she had the gold coins to build it and specialize it perfectly for herself. Just enough so that she would not need to deal with the fact that she was working in a rented building unable to work with her trade itself. This was proof that she was doing well and could afford ownership over resting.

It meant that the perfume side of merchant work might be more expensive and profitable than what most people would believe. Then again, Walker considered the potential for the fact that many with deep pockets would care for the luxury of perfume compared to those who would wish for it due to the beneficial buffs or debuffs that could come with perfumes.

Looking at how Walker was examining the perfumes and materials to make them, she understood he was using an appraisal skill and stepped forward. "These are all made by myself. Most that you see are for luxury. They are made with the finest skills I have and delicate ingredients."

She pulled out a small emerald colored bottle and showed it to Walker.

’Grape vine essence

The information describing the scent and the process was interesting. Since the all around appraisal started with in depth knowledge about how it was made, Walker could understand a few things.

If this was the case for every potion or perfume here, then it would show that anyone with the right appraisal skills or just an appraisal scroll could steal the method to create this perfume. Then again, it was for luxury and those who wanted the formula or process would be able to get it regardless.

It just proved that these were able to be made by others and that the perfumer here was someone who was not afraid of losing business because she was going to have her information stolen.

Yet, she had a glint in her eye that told him it was experience that allowed her to be so confident here. That she had the skills to ensure she would succeed in this process without fear of losing out when she produced more of these.

It was an interesting skill set that might be more challenging to utilize than what he had realized prior.

"Each potion will take me hours to create. It is a test of patience. Nothing here is made instantly and I even have some of the alchemy skills I used to use before I took this path to make potions into perfumes altered by my knowledge. I have several perfumers that take over a year to complete. One that will take me three years."

Now Onyx and Midnight were captured by the words. They wished to hear more about this profession since it was a niche they had never looked in to. It was also clear that the perfumer was sharing this information because she grasped the fact that they were leaders of Genesis and not simply customers.

"We have some fresh perfumes that only take a couple of hours. We base them on fruits and spices. They are loved since some of them can be used for cooking as well. That is something you might not find everywhere." Now Walker knew that she was trying to sell him them. Knowing his mother was someone deeply involved in the culinary aspects of Genesis as a whole might cause her to gain huge amounts of business for those less used and desired perfumes.

"I believe those of you in your profession will be more interested in my specialized potions." She places the perfume down and pulled out small vials that could have spritzers attached.

"These are made to enhance the mind. Calm your state of thinking and also slow your heartbeat. Others are made to increase your blood flow, or even heighten you sensitivity." She showed another protected case.

"These are for use against others. Some are paralytic, some are blood thinning. And a few can cause blindness, and the dulling of senses, or even harming the sense of pain by increasing or decreasing it."

She seemed proud of her work, but it also showed her level of skill. Not to mention the massive amount of versatility.

The nice part was, she referred to them as potions too. She knew that the alchemy side was similar and better for people to understand. This made it easier to sell the perfumes as a whole too. But, she also could educate people readily on what she did and how she did it.

The market for perfumes might work better with adventurers and explorers from noble families or from merchant groups too. Let alone the bonus for women or people that wished to avoid the worse scents in their line of work.

The interesting option Walker saw was that so perfumes could push someone in to a berserk state. For a berserker or a warrior that might have extreme value since it could activate certain passive skills.

"I believe you are doing very good work. Were you an alchemist before you became a perfumer?" He was interested in how this path was taken and how might advance.

"I was an apprentice alchemist who got caught up in flowers. Then I began to wonder why the mad boars in a certain field were so calm, it was the flower scent calling them which made it a safe place to travel even though the mad boars were so dangerous elsewhere."

"I have a quest right now that should guide me to being an expert perfumer. Right now I am just an apprentice perfumer who works a lot." She had pride in her work ethic and looking at the amount she produced here it was well worth her bragging.

"Can you share the quest details? I would like to know more. When I see Remey I might have her learn more about perfumes to expand her usage of alchemy mists when we are out and about." This made the woman bounce around slightly.

She clearly was never asked these things and with a literal hero asking her? Well, who would not be extremely excited?
