Chapter 3059: 3059. Strong But Weak

The skills that Walker gained to help him control the golem bodies all worked together in their own ways.

He had used them and accepted them more as a part of himself rather than as skills to manipulate actively. While that seemed a little opposing to what he was doing, it worked for the ways that he interpreted the skills and the feelings he received from the golem bodies.

However, if he was making used different elemental puppets, then he had to keep in mind that he could control them actively with more mana manipulation and the skills he has gained.

Therefore, Gil has seen a chance to get Walker to train those skills while also helping him train the archery style in slow motion.

Training anything in slow motion was ideal for the person training.

It allowed for them to focus on the exact positions of their body and the usage of the technique or skills associated with that. It would also allow them to notice where they failed in their control of their bodies or feel any changes that were not desired.

Some of the craftsmen who worked for years and years had adjusted to training in this way because years of hammering or bending would influence their bodies in certain ways. If they did not keep their stances or techniques fluid, they would find that they had gathered small injuries over years and years leading to a loss of them being able to properly use their skills.

To a blacksmith, that could mean being unable to lift the hammer they needed to forge. To a carpenter, that could be the inability to smoothly sand a piece to be safe to tough. For a painter, it could be the shake that appeared in their wrist causing their work’s quality to suffer.

Any number of professions even beyond just craftsmen would have this. Gil knew that well and wished to avoid the negative side of training too rapidly. He had met some of the elder elves who had worked themselves to the bone without proper training. He knew their struggles and the reasons that they spent more time with medicinal teas and in the cathedral with healing light nowadays.

Their injuries had piled up leaving their older bodies struggling and their minds dealing with the pain.

"Why do you think I need to keep working on the golem controlling skills? The puppeteering skills I learned were already useful but I can’t focus too much on them." Part of Walker had tried to separate himself from using too many puppets. He didn’t even use the flame doll skill or other elemental doll skills because he knew that relying on them too much would separate himself from the desire to do things with his own body.

Now that he was using the golem bodies, he was focused on the fact that they were part of him.

"You already said that you wanted to understand more about the skills you use, so let’s do that. You might have to use smaller golems or puppets or something to help people. You can’t always use magic to move the earth. What if you wanted to help hold up a building and there was rubble blocking a door? You would need more hands and this would be a way to do that more easily."

Gil was making up situations that could have some weight here. Especially since he saw the potential that he would make mistakes in a rush.

He also knew that Gil was not actively saying he would be making these mistakes. It was the fact that Gil saw the potential. That was leadership and preparation.

Then again, Walker had also been very clear that he wished to study the skills he received even more. The golem control skills and the secondary body skills were more than just a singular skill.

For Walker, it was a set of skills that combined to be even more. They fused together to become skills that were perfect for what he needed.

Yet, others would see skills like that as mastery skills or highly advanced skills. It was just a difference in class, standing, and the way that they thought. Let alone what might influence the skills based on the ways that his race affected things.

As Walker started to use the earth doll skill, he started to add small weak pieces of armor to it. He was crafting it and using the mana thread skills to form ways of control. "This is called the earth marionette soldier skill. It came to be when I tried to explore the skills from the golem bodies and also the skills from the elemental dolls. It was a fusion skill I gained as a side effect."

Walker knew that the title of puppeteer or marionette master was not part of what he gained, but from his knowledge he had the potential to get those titles. He knew that the others with these professions had them. They used those titles along with the skills that came with those.

"Now, I see that you think this will be a slower moving golem or puppet, but it is made for defending not for attacking. Although it is actually very speedy." Walker smirked.

He was sensing the ways that the mana flowed and the puppet he had made was able to flex. It was stiff and it felt different from what he expected. The mana threads he made by slimming and condensing his mana were harder to understand since they were the smaller and thinner methods of control for him.

He was able to control them once he was able to sense them. But he was used to the bone she had in real life and the conditioned forged bodies of the golems that perfectly matched him. The slightly different feeling was enough for him to realize that he truly did not understand the myriad of skills he was using to move the golem bodies.

The active understanding of the skills mattered too.

Then again, he understood this about other skills but the instinctual and accepting form that the skills took when making the golem bodies part of his own had been a lot more hidden in the terms of seeing the challenge. He was so used to them even though it was realistically a short amount of time that he gained these additional bodies.

"One down." Gil had fired an arrow and curved it toward the puppet soldiers. The instant that the arrow moved it had cracked the head of the puppet needing it to be rebuilt yet again.

Walker just stood there still sensing the broken mana flow and understanding that he had seen Gil move and felt it. Had understood that the attack was coming and still not reacted fast enough.

It was like he had just begun to work with the skill instead of having it and using it without thinking. It was almost insulting to him. And the worst part was that he had insulted himself rather than been insulted.

In a stubborn stomp, Walker gathered some earth mana and enhanced his mana senses even more. He focused intently and began moving the puppet soldier causing it to dart side to side and raise an earth shield with a leather shield in the center to block the next arrow.

This was a change form the last time but when the arrow hit, it still made contact, leaving Gil smugly humming while shifting stances and adding the fire styled bow to the mix.

His challenge of feeling the flow of these manas as they formed mana blows was a challenge within itself since he was not having Walker increase the mana in the air. Gil sensed he could more easily use the earth side of the style and avoided that since Walker naturally caused more of that mana to be in the air. He had to be challenged. He couldn’t take the easy way here.

But the changes were what he had to feel. The effect that the manas felt on the arrows also needed to ring true in his body so that he would not lose track of what needed to happen here. He had to smooth the style and feel the errors.

Walker suddenly moved the puppet, causing the leg to crack and break. It was a too strongly pushed movement that he had not properly translated because it was how his normal body would move and not what the puppet was capable of using.

Whether he had realized this or not before, it hit him hard now.

He had to sense different manas and different limits depending on what he was using and the refinement of his mana was higher than others. Meaning he needed more care.

This also highlighted an area of risk that came with many of the stronger and older members of some races.

They needed to be more careful so that their strength did not damage certain weaker items and gear. Let alone others around them. Now, Walker was understanding this too and catching the risk before it could come to be in reality by accident.
