Chapter 3063. Unexpected Partners
Chapter 3063: 3063. Unexpected Partners
"You came back from meeting the king sooner than I thought." Waker’s golem body froze.
He’d expected that Alice didn’t notice him at all. He’d even used some light mana to bend the place where he was and hide him. Only the stronger mages around would notice it. That was when he realized that even if Alice wouldn’t notice actively sensing mana, she would still notice.
"You realized that the light mana around me didn’t move when you spoke or hummed, didn’t you?" She smirked a little.
With how much the light mana would move just from a simple word she spoke if she did not keep herself controlled and focus on it, she had easily noticed light mana that didn’t move nearby. It was just an oddity that stood out as abnormal. Anyone would notice something standing out differently than what they expected like that.
"I was speaking with the king and was present as he received some input on the battles. He found that Scylla’s idea made a lot of difference. He also praised some of your healers for giving some of his healing staff input and ideas of their own for their futures too."
Walker was a little sheepish as she shared this, but that just made Alice that much more amused as she knew he was this way because she caught him in the act.
She had been the one to ask him not to be around so that the younger healers could experience some of the healing and effort associated with this training alone. If they had him they might rely on him too much and that would just lead to them being lazy or unprepared.
Then again, she also stepped back during the fight and let them handle things themselves. She too was a crutch for them if she allowed it to be so.
"He also said he wanted to send three hundred students to the academy. So we will have even more for the first year classes than I expected. But the entire number sent by those planning the academy intake have told me they gave a tenth of the numbers they expect to be able to be sent to the kingdom’s leaders in the alliance."
This has been done simply to ensure that people would not over do everything. Plenty of people, especially in merchant circles, would say a smaller number then watch as that number grew. It was a trick that kept the estimated costs or product numbers for sale in their wheelhouse and not beyond them.
"That should be good. The cathedral will send more of the healers finishing their own pilgrimages soon. There will be healers that even worked with adventurers so that they can teach the experiences they have had in the wilderness." Alice knew the values of these skills and what these healers had gone through.
Not many healers would find a church or a cathedral and stay there for their entire lives. It was just not realistic and it would limit their knowledge and skills.
If they just handle mundane injuries like scrapes or growing pains, then they would never be able to handle the inevitable larger injuries.
What if a small village healer encountered a farmer who caught on their pillow and was not prepared to heal them? Or what if a thunderstrike from a storm harmed a woman running for shelter from the rain? These events happened and they would always happen randomly. That was just the nature of life.
Yet, a healer not prepared for such a thing to happen should never be the case if they were being properly educated. Alice fully believed this and preached it.
Therefore, she had made sure that those elites who were off training had the chances to grow enough to teach exactly the skills needed for the healers who may just settle in a small town, village, or city and never leave there.
This way, they could achieve the worst case scenario events with success.
"I knew you and your people would be ready." Trying to compliment her more didn’t seem to win the small glare he received but he also knew Alice was mostly teasing him now. Especially since she knew he’d come back, even if it was a golem body right now, to spend time with her as much as possible.
"You know, I might take a break after returning." This brought Walker to a state of confusion. Alice had been so adamant about training new healers. About helping more people. This was increasingly odd of her to just want to take a break now.
Knowing he would be confused, she clarified herself. "My body has felt heavier lately. I’ve been more tired. Traveling hasn’t helped me remember to eat well enough and I think I need to take a few days once I am back to remind myself to be healthier."
This was what any leader faced. The entire party had moments where they realized they hadn’t eaten. At their strength, they could go a couple of days but that was still worrisome. It meant that they might let themselves get weaker for foolish reasons like not eating.
"Then we will take a break. Good food and good books for a while." He knew she would like that. They had plenty of books they could sit in the library reading while enjoying snacks and a fire in the fireplace. Sometimes peace like that could soothe more than just the body.
With that promise, Alice nodded and the two began to plan the full trip back. Some healers would remain there to learn more and teach. Most would return and they would also come with quite a few guards that would be training within Genesis as well.
"You’re still tired?" Following the theme of their training, Gil found Remey half asleep at the kitchen table. She hadn’t even made it to the dining room to eat this morning.
"I need to recover mana and Ignus is already doing things with the other dragons so I can steal more from him. Walker could just bring me to the fire elemental plane for a while but he said that’s not the best answer every time I use more mana to train." She mumbled a bit but Gil also knew that it was the correct answer.
"So you’ll just be lazy all day while waiting for enough mana to be absorbed. Sounds like a good plan." Gil received a glare that told him he should say something else quickly, or he might just regret it."
"Instead, you could come with me and test out some of the flame herbs growing in the elven greenhouses." This seemed to catch her attention.
"Shouldn’t you be all focused on archery?"
"Well, yes. But no, not now." Gil seemed a little happy to say this though. "Alma wants someone to check on things and she doesn’t trust the elder who was doing it since he ended up plucking too many herbs last time. So now I am. It also gives me time to think about the fire styled archery and maybe see more natural mana flows in the herbs too. It might help."
"But I can take advantage of the greenhouse’s fire mana and snag some herbs so you’ll take me. Good, I’ll use your authority." She smirked and Gil knew that he had just signed his own criminal papers knowing how Remey would take plenty or herbs for herself.
Then again, he did enjoy that he could ask her for input on the health and quality of herbs. She’d been the most knowledgeable he knew and getting even a few additional pieces of information could help the evaluation as a whole.
"The wind and earth treetop greenhouses are doing well. High production and growth. All passing tests and quality examinations. The flame related herbs are slower. Much weaker, and maybe even ill but the herbalists insist they are just in need of better attention."
"Hmm, so I can tell you if you need more herbalists or if you have a bigger problem here?" Remey grew more serious as she grasped what Gil wanted from her.
She was a major figure in the world of herbs and alchemy after all.
"So, coming with me?" Gil also tossed a fire elemental mana crystal at Remey knowing she could use the pick me up that the mana could give her. She needed denser fire mana for her health overall so this was always an added bonus for her.
Then again, she also ate a lot of spark wheat in her food now. Fire related crops along with every elemental crop had boomed in popularity since many discovered and studied their own affinities for mana. It would keep increasing too, something to be very excited about.
The two moved toward the larger treehouses that had been made for the even greenhouse experiments. It was easy to get there but a bit more entertaining to check out the view from the tree tops first.
