Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers
Chapter 619: Mom, Dad, Take Care Of Yourselves
(Author’s POV)
"Are my girls all set?" William asked, glancing at his two daughters and their suitcases.
"Yeah~ ... clothes, toiletries, all the basics—done and dusted," Wendy replied, her voice full of energy.
"Good," Sandra said, then turned to Myra. "How about you? You haven’t forgotten anything, have you?"
Myra was lost in her own thoughts.
Ever since Dion had dropped her off and left, she had been trying to talk to her parents about delaying their visit to Kimberg, but she hadn’t found the right moment. She had even gone to see Wendy in her room, but when she stepped inside, Wendy was enthusiastically packing her luggage.
When Wendy saw Myra, she walked over and asked, "Sis, you are back. How are you holding up?"
"I’m fine," Myra said, nodding as Wendy led her towards the bed. "Sit here." Then she asked, "Did you meet Prof. Stephens grandfather?"
"Ummhmm~ ... I did," Myra answered.
"He must be really~ ..." Wendy chewed her lower lip, not knowing how to finish her words, her tone solemn.
Myra’s silence was the answer. The room fell into an awkward silence.
Just when Myra was about to speak, Wendy beat her to it. Trying to lift the mood, she quickly changed the subject: "Sis~ .... You have been to Kimberg before; how’s the weather over there? Should I pack summer clothes or should I pack some sweatshirts and jackets as well? I have tons of things to pack. I’ll need another case to fit everything in. What do you think?"
Myra glanced at her sister. She looked clearly happy as she organised her essentials. She could tell how excited Wendy was to go to Kimberg. She opened her mouth twice, but nothing came out. She didn’t have the heart to disappoint Wendy; neither could she send Wendy into a place full of werewolves all alone. In the end, she didn’t say anything to Wendy, and now~ .... five hours later, they were standing in the living room with their packed suitcases, ready to head to the airport.
When she got no answer for a long while, Sandra caressed Myra’s cheek softly and said, her voice filled with concern, "Myra, dear. I know you are grief-stricken. We all are deeply saddened as well. None of us could have thought something like this would happen to Fabian. He was so young. He had a whole life ahead of him~ .... He was such a~ ..." She stopped, her eyes filled with tears; her voice started to shake. After a moment of silence, she added, "But, in life, no matter what happens, one has to move on and see what’s ahead. Fabian wouldn’t want you to be like this. He will always be with us, in our prayers."
Myra came to her senses and nodded, her eyes a little red. Soon the doorbell rang as Wendy made her way to open it.
Her eyes crinkled the minute she saw the person standing in front of her. "Elio~ ... you are here. Come~ ... come inside."
Elio hummed and stepped in, followed by Brave. Their eyes fell straight on Myra’s bag. Sighing in relief, Brave asked, "Is this all the luggage?"
"Yup," Wendy answered.
"Alright." He walked straight to Myra’s side, mumbled, "I’ll help you with this," took the handle from her, and started walking out.
"Brave, I can do it on my own," Myra said.
"I know you can. But with me, you don’t need to." He simply walked out, his pace slow, matching Myra’s.
Elio helped Wendy, which made her blush from top to toe. The moment William told them what Noah had said on the call, she was the first to agree. After all, she didn’t want to be away from Elio so soon.
William and Sandra would have said no, but just before Noah’s call, the announcement about the temporary closure of Red Stone was posted on the university forum and related platforms. So, they had no reason not to agree.
They followed behind, glancing at Wendy, then at each other. Now they knew why she was so eager to go to Kimberg.
Once they all reached outside the gate, Dion was waiting for them.
Earlier, when he told his brothers about what had happened at the Miracles, everyone was too shocked to speak at first. They were desperate and wanted Myra to come with them. After her direct ’no’, none of them dared to force her, but they didn’t expect a call from their father to fix all this in one go. And they were truly glad for it, over the moon even.
"Where is Alaric? Isn’t he going with you?" Sandra asked, her eyes darting around in search of him.
"Alaric had some work. He will meet us directly at the airport," Brave answered.
The couple hummed. Sandra walked towards her daughters and instructed, placing each hand on their cheeks, "Myra, Wendy, sorry we can’t go to the airport to send you off. Take care of yourselves and each other. And don’t miss us too much. Once our work is done here, your father and I will join you, okay."
Wendy nodded, "Alright, Mom."
Myra looked at her, then at William, then said, her voice heavy, "You both take care of yourselves. If something happens, even if it’s small, call me immediately. Don’t go out in the dark. Don’t talk to strangers. Don’t take anything from people you don’t know."
"Hahh~ ... child, you are sounding like your mother," William teased.
"Dad, please~ ...." Myra pressed.
"Okay, okay. My girl has grown up now. We won’t go out after dark. We won’t talk to strangers. We won’t take anything from anyone. Anything else you want to add, hmm?" William asked
"Please take this~ ..." She took off the bracelet Sara had given her and handed it to her mother. "Keep it with you at all times."
Sandra refused, "Isn’t this something~ ...." she hesitated, looking at the brothers, "Mrs. Everests gave you. You should wear it."
"Mom, please. If you don’t take it. My mind would not feel at ease," Myra insisted.
"Ma’am, you should take it. It is a protective charm and will help you keep the evil away. This way, Myra and Wendy won’t worry about you." Elio and Dion also agreed.
Hearing them, Sandra had no choice but to take it. "Okay, but once we get to Kimberg. I’ll return it to you."
Myra let out a breath she was holding and said, "Alright."
"You should hurry up now," William spoke, his voice soft.
Brave opened the door for Wendy and Myra. Once they had settled, he turned towards William and Sandra and uttered, "Sir, Ma’am, we will take care of your daughters for you. Rest assured."
William patted his shoulder in acknowledgement. "They are in your care now."
After that, he stepped inside as Dion ignited the engine and the car zoomed off.
