Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers
Chapter 618: Don’t You Want To Go?
(Author’s POV)
"I thought you knew," William remarked.
"I don’t," Myra answered as she fell into another series of thoughts. ’Are they really inviting us to the banquet, or is this their way of bringing my family to Kimberg? What kind of a coincidence is this?’
Meanwhile, William continued, "Myra~ .... I said yes because things are already tense here. With what happened with Fabian~ ...." Saying his name, he let out a heavy sigh. "I know you were close, and you are sad about his untimely death. But~ .... Yelena has already returned to Damona, and you don’t have other close friends here. I don’t want you alone and grieving like that. I know you don’t tell us and suffer on your own. Your mother and I don’t want that at all. Plus, Nora will be in Kimberg. It will be good for you to take your mind off and relax for a few days." He explained his side. Then added, "If you don’t want to go, I can decline his invitation."
"No~ ... it’s okay, Dad," she replied. "I just~ .... I was just a little taken aback. That’s all." After a brief moment, she let out a breath and asked, "Have you packed your luggage?"
"Not yet. We~ ..." he answered, but Myra cut him off. "I will help then."
She started walking, but William held her back. "There’s no need for that. Sandra and I aren’t going with you two."
"WHAT?? WHY??" she asked, her tone a bit higher than usual, her eyes widened like saucers.
"You see, the university might have closed temporarily, but students who are living on campus can’t return to their homes on such short notice. The cafeteria will remain open until everyone has gone back. It will take at most a week. Wendy and you should leave today with the brothers. Once we are done here, we will fly to Kimberg, hmm?"
"No, I won’t go then. I won’t leave you two behind," Myra replied, her words landing strongly.
William chuckled softly, "Myra, child, I know you love us and will miss us. I will miss my girls too, but it is only for a week. It would pass in a flash. You should go," He ruffled her hair.
"Dad, but~ ..." Myra tried to speak, but he spoke first. "So, it’s decided. You and Wendy will leave for Kimberg with the four brothers. Your mother and I will join you once our work here is over." He gave her no opportunity to say no. "Dion is waiting outside. It doesn’t look right to leave our guest alone for too long." Saying this, he headed towards the living room, leaving a bewildered Myra behind.

"Hector Healer, I am alone now. What is it you wanted to tell? You may speak," Chris said, his tone even.
"Uhhh~ ... it’s about the young master," she replied, her voice unusually low.
"Young master Fabian?" His head shot up at the mention. "What about him?"
"I think I found the real cause of his death," Iris told him.
Chris sucked in a breath and held it. "The real cause of his death?" he repeated. His mind raced: ’Does she really know? But how? No, she couldn’t have. I left no trace. But~ .... What if she really knows something about it~ ....?"
Iris lowered her voice a notch more, "Actually~ ...." She paused, making Chris’s heart hammer wildly in his chest. He was already thinking of ways how to shut her up for good. She continued, "Peter confessed everything."
"Peter, the healer who assisted you during the surgery?" he inquired. ’He confessed? How does he know? Did Catherine send him, or was it that airheaded Brian? They dared to betray me. I am going to destroy each one of them.’ His jaw tightened, and so did his fists.
"He just came to me and confessed. In the operating room, during the suturing, he accidentally left a splinter of wood inside the young master’s chest. It developed into cardiac tamponade, which is what triggered the sudden cardiac arrest," Iris explained, her voice heavy.
Hearing her words, Chris’s rigid body relaxed as he finally let out his breath. After taking a moment, he shouted, feigning shock, "WHAT? HE LEFT A SPLINTER? Healer Hector, weren’t you in the operating room? You were the one who performed the surgery. How could such a blunder happen under your supervision?" His pitch was high now. "His Majesty will need to know about this."
Iris remained silent for a brief moment. Then she said, her voice firm, "Indeed, it was my oversight that such a tragic thing happened to the young master. I will take full responsibility for it. I will confess everything to his majesty, step down from his exclusive healer’s position and take whatever punishment he gives me without question."
"Alright. That would be the right thing to do," Chris spoke, then hung up the call; a malicious smirk graced his lips. To succeed in his plan and eradicate Jacob and his presence completely, he was going to get rid of Iris and the other people loyal to Jacob. He never knew that such an opportunity would fall into his lap.
"Jacob Larson, soon~ .... very soon, no one will be left beside you but me. And once you are fully dependent on me, I will pull the plug on you." his smirk widened, making him look terrifyingly ugly.

"Dion, sorry for that. Why are you standing? Please take a seat," William said as he came back.
Dion had already heard their conversation, and he was thrilled to know that Myra was coming with them. He pressed his lips together, trying to keep a straight face.
Myra entered after a minute, her expression tight.
"Oh, Myra~ ... you are back. I have packed your luggage. Take a look and tell me if you want me to pack anything else. I will do it right away," Sandra remarked, descending the stairs. Then her eyes landed on Dion. "Dion, are you here to take Myra and Wendy with you?"
"Mom," Myra called her, walking towards Sandra. "Can I not go now? I want to stay with you two. When you are done with work here, we will go to Kimberg together." She said in a low tone. She didn’t want to leave them behind.
Dion heard that as well and couldn’t help but frown. ’Does she dislike coming with us?’
"Don’t you want to go?" Sandra asked, tilting her head to the side.
"NO, I WANT TO~ ..." Myra’s reply came instantly.
Hearing this, Dion’s shoulders relaxed.
"Then what’s the problem? Are you worried about us?" Sandra said teasingly. "Don’t worry, my baby. We will be fine. You and Wendy go first. We will catch up with you when we are done, okay.’ She patted Myra’s cheek affectionately.
