Chapter 726: Chapter 275: Within the Borders Is Our Home (Part 2)
Captain Cen thought for a moment before saying, “If there’s anything that sets them apart, it’s that none of them have ever become a Superpower User.”
After over two thousand years of fusion and evolution, by now the Divine Martial Realm has long been unified, with Superpower Users emerging among all races, yet the Green Blood Clan has never produced a Superpower User. This is indeed quite odd.
“Scientists say that the Green Blood People are a cursed tribe, destined to be eliminated.” After saying this, Captain Cen didn’t know what he was thinking of, but laughed sarcastically, “I think they’re spewing nonsense.”
He launched into a tirade, “Once awakened to superpowers, they think they’re superior, believing common folk deserve elimination for being inferior, forgetting that their ancestors were all ordinary people.”
“People shouldn’t forget their roots. Get carried away, and there’ll be repercussions.”
Xu Xingguang agreed with Captain Cen’s words, “Hmm, if lightning doesn’t strike them, then let the sword.”
Captain Cen was momentarily stunned, then his dark face broke into a smile, looking unexpectedly adorable and genuine with the wind-burn redness on his cheeks.
Xu Xingguang looked at him like he was an old elder, indulgently and lovingly watching the grandchildren of his friends.
Cen Chaoyang, you were loyal all your life.
Your descendants, I’ll take care of them for you.
The ship arrived at Beiwang Pier of the Green Blood Clan the next morning, Captain Cen left Mendun to guard the ship while he personally accompanied Xu Xingguang ashore, accompanying her to the town near the hills.
“I happen to need to procure some supplies too,” the captain awkwardly explained.
Xu Xingguang smiled, “Let’s walk together then.”
The Extreme North Town where the Green Blood People reside is far less prosperous than the towns on the other three continents, with houses built from wood and stone standing closely together, creating a lived-in feel.
The Green Blood People do use modern technology products, but almost no one uses them.
For one, modern intelligent technology products are too expensive; they may not be able to afford them. And also—
“They don’t trust the official governments of the Three Great Alliances, especially the most technologically advanced Eastern Alliance. They dare not excessively rely on the technology products developed by the Three Great Alliances for fear of becoming controlled by them.”
“Imagine if the Green Blood People Tribe all used high-tech products, then if any one of the Three Great Alliances decided to control their lives and deaths, it would only require cutting off their water, electricity, and networks to disrupt their lives.”
“They say that excessively relying on technology products not belonging to them is like being a penned pig, thinking having a meal means having good fortune. But pigs, when fattened, are meant to be slaughtered.”
“Therefore, they continue to preserve the most primitive lifestyle of the Green Blood Clan.”
Facing adversity and gaining wisdom, the Green Blood People have ingrained their fear of the Three Great Alliances into their bones and blood.
After all, the pain of annihilation cannot be forgotten for generations.
Last time it was night, in the cold Extreme North Town, everyone rested early. A week has passed, the climate warmed somewhat, it was daytime again, and today the Extreme North Town was quite lively.
On the streets, Green Blood People with little olive skin ears could be seen everywhere, and shops selling taverns, hunted game jerky, small supermarkets, and post offices were visible.
Captain Cen veered off course, ushering Xu Xingguang into a tavern.
The tavern business was slow in the morning, the bar owner, who was also the bartender, was a middle-aged woman wearing a black bear fur coat. She was voluptuous, and her bold facial features were dazzlingly beautiful, her double chin not detracting from her beauty in the slightest.
The tavern door was pushed open, the shell wind chime hanging behind the door was jostled, clinking with a jingling sound.
The owner raised her head, first stunned by Xu Xingguang’s beauty before staring blankly.
Upon seeing the captain following Xu Xingguang indoors, she finally revealed a familiar smile and said in Green Blood language, “Captain, long time no see, same old, still drinking gin?”
The captain walked into the tavern, asking Xu Xingguang, “Are you okay with it?”
Xu Xingguang nodded, “I’ll try.”
This tavern has some age to it, the tables and chairs polished from constant use, Xu Xingguang sat at the nearest high stool at the bar, calmly accepting the owner’s innocent curiosity.
“Beauty,” the owner concluded, this time switching to the language of the Divine Martial Realm, which was modernized to the Xia Country language.
Xu Xingguang nodded at her, “Good eye,” saying this in Ancient Xia Country language, resembling the accent of those top authorities on the Divine Hidden Continent seen online.
The owner looked at the captain, asking in Green Blood language, “Is she a noble lady from the Divine Hidden Continent?”
The captain shook his head, “No, she’s the mistress of Bai Ze Realm.”
Within two days, the upheaval at Bai Ze Island had already spread to the Green Blood Clan, as the black ships that originally traveled to Bai Ze Island are now out of work. And yesterday afternoon, several fugitive convicts from Bai Ze Island were returned.
These past two days, some of these fugitives have been active in their town and surrounding towns.
Leaving Bai Ze Island, the dense forest tribe where the Green Blood People live is the only refuge for these fugitives to avoid pursuit from the Alliance officials.
The owner glanced at Xu Xingguang in surprise, passing her the first glass of gin, “A drink for you, beauty.”
“Thank you.”
While drinking, Xu Xingguang heard the owner, using language she didn’t understand, chatting rapidly with the captain. Judging by the expressions and gestures, she seemed quite frustrated and unhappy.
“What’s she saying?” Xu Xingguang interrupted their chatter using Ancient Xia Country language.
The owner instinctively fell silent, glanced at Xu Xingguang cautiously, yet didn’t express dissatisfaction.
The captain informed Xu Xingguang, “The owner tells me that the fugitives from Bai Ze Island have been active these past two days in their forest tribe.”
Xu Xingguang’s demeanor turned serious, asking the owner, “Have any of them committed crimes in your tribe?”
The owner hesitated and nodded.
“What have they done?”
The owner replied, “Stealing stuff, robbing things, and one convict almost succeeded against a little girl, luckily she was saved in time by warriors from the tribe.”
Xu Xingguang’s face turned icy, “Take me to where they’re active.”
The Green Blood Clan has no Superpower Users, they’re all primitive tribal people living in the jungle. Though valiant in battle, they’re no match for those heinous fugitives.
The owner hesitated slightly until she heard the captain say, “She’s also a Super Power User.”
Only then did she nod and tell Xu Xingguang, “Then I’ll trouble you, beauty.”
“It’s what I should do.” It was also Xu Xingguang’s oversight, thinking only of driving the fugitives out of Bai Ze Island, but not anticipating that once they left, having nowhere else to go, they’d swarm into the Green Blood People’s dense forest tribe.
“I must capture them all and return them to the prisons of their respective alliances.” They cannot be allowed to stain the pure land of the Green Blood People’s lives.
