Maybe I really am a Villian
Chapter 287: Ravena
Aria looked at Asher for a few moments in silence. Then, in a slightly annoyed tone, she said, "You’re more annoying today. Honestly, I want to punch you right now."
Asher just smiled. "You are free to try, though I feel like it’s not me being more annoying today, but just you being frustrated with your family and now venting that frustration on me."
Aria stayed silent for a moment as she thought about what Asher had just said. Then she sighed and said, "Maybe you are right, but still, I am a hundred percent sure that I want to punch you in the face."
Asher just sighed and then muttered, "Why does everyone around me have weird fetishes? I am the only normal person in my class."
And then Asher was just about to continue, but before he could, he suddenly found his mouth full because there was an apple in his mouth that Aria had shoved in without any warning.
After shoving the apple into Asher’s mouth to shut him up, Aria calmly sat back down and then said, "Just eat and don’t say anything else. I am in a bad mood today."
Aria had just finished speaking when she realized something else and said again, "Don’t say anything."
This time, her tone was even firmer.
But Asher didn’t understand why she had said it a second time. But he didn’t dwell on that, because there was no need to.
Asher then simply took the apple out of his mouth and cut it into eight equal slices with his mana blade. He then ate one of the slices and didn’t say anything further.
Asher had already realized that Aria was trying to shove the apple into his mouth, but he didn’t bother to stop her, as it wasn’t anything harmful.
After that, Asher also stayed silent and continued eating his food while thinking, ’That Blood Saint found my mark on Ravena, and even destroyed it. As expected, no one noticed ’that’. Nothing went wrong.’
’Now I just need to do something to deal with these humans.’
And then he paused and looked at Aria.
’Especially Velmora. They will be a pain to deal with.’
Demon Continent
Mortalis Castle
In one of the rooms of the Castle
Ravena was resting with her eyes closed, staying completely still and doing nothing except meditating. She was trying to stabilize her newfound strength and, at the same time, her mental state.
Ravena remained still for many hours, quietly focusing on herself and becoming accustomed to the immense power that she had recently gained.
And then, after several more hours had passed, she finally opened her eyes and looked toward the window in the dark room.
The room contained hardly anything other than a bed, chair and a table. There were no decorations or anything else that could make the room feel comfortable. It was simply a place for someone to rest.
Ravena slowly got up from the bed and walked toward the window.
Outside, it was pitch black.
It was already midnight, and there was hardly any sign of light in the outer city. The air felt dry and heavy, completely devoid of moisture, just like the rest of this wasteland.
Ravena stood near the window and looked toward the outer regions of the Central Region.
And then she heard it.
A low sound of someone screaming in pain reached her ears from somewhere in the distance.
The scream continued for a few moments before suddenly dying out.
Then, in its place, another voice could be heard from somewhere else.
Ravena remained silent as she listened.
Right now, most of the demons were killing each other. There was no better time to hunt or kill another demon than during the dark blanket of night, when it was difficult for anyone to see what was happening around them.
The weak were being hunted, while those who were stronger were taking advantage of the darkness to eliminate their enemies.
It was simply how life worked in the Demon Continent.
Ravena could hear those distant sounds only because she had reached the Immortal rank. Her senses had become far stronger than they had been before, allowing her to hear things that were happening at such a great distance.
She continued staring outside the window for a while, listening to the distant sounds of the demons fighting and killing each other.
After listening to those screams for a moment, Ravena couldn’t help but think, ’This place is just the same, full of chaos and fighting. There’s nothing here but fighting and death.’
Then Ravena sighed and couldn’t help but think that, if anything, this place was not much better than that facility. The only difference was that she was now free.
But Ravena didn’t linger on those thoughts for long. She was about to leave the room when she sensed someone standing at the door.
A moment later, that person entered the room.
It was a low-ranking vampire who had just entered the room. He was a servant, and he had a stack of papers in his arms.
Ravena looked at the stack of papers and then asked, "Are these the reports on everything that has happened in the last ten years?"
The servant nodded and didn’t say anything else.
Ravena then told him to leave the stack on the table and leave the room afterward.
The servant did exactly as Ravena told him.
After the servant left the room, Ravena looked at the stack of papers and started reading.
As she continued reading through the reports, she suddenly realized something that she had been ignoring for a long time.
She was feeling calm and focused.
More importantly, the instinct to devour blood and kill others was no longer present.
She felt too calm.
It was strange.
Far too strange for a Demon.
Ravena stopped reading for a moment as she thought about it.
And when she thought about it more carefully, she also remembered how she had fought Ciaran earlier.
