The line eventually began moving.

They crossed a large stone bridge and entered a region controlled by the Azure Mountain Sect.

The sect had no interest in the merchants personally. They simply maintained the road because it ran across a spiritual vein belonging to them. Every traveler who entered the road had to pay a small maintenance fee.

Qin Lian paid.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing paid too, even though the amount was almost meaningless to them.

The clerk stamped their travel papers.

Then he stopped.

"Wandering cultivators?"

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

The clerk looked at their names.

"Mo Yuxin. Su Yubing."

He frowned.

"Have I heard these names before?"

Su Yubing smiled.

"Probably not. There are many cultivators in the world."

The clerk looked uncertain but finally waved them through.

They walked another few kilometers before Su Yubing quietly said, "You should stop using your real names."

Mo Yuxin glanced at her.

"Why?"

"People keep recognizing us."

"It is probably coincidence."

"That is a lot of coincidence."

Mo Yuxin considered it.

"Then what name should we use?"

Su Yubing thought for a moment.

"You could call yourself Mo Yu."

"Too obvious."

"Then you choose."

Mo Yuxin looked at her wife.

"Mrs. Su."

Su Yubing laughed so hard that she had to hold the carriage railing.

"That is not a name."

"It is a good one."

"No."

"Why?"

"Because when people ask your name, you cannot answer with my surname."

"Why not?"

Su Yubing looked at her for a few seconds.

Then she shook her head.

"Forget it. Keep your name."

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"Good."

Their little conversation was interrupted by a loud horn from the front of the caravan.

Qin Lian immediately stood.

"Something is wrong."

The caravan stopped.

Ahead of them, the road had disappeared beneath a thick layer of fog.

It was not ordinary fog.

Spiritual energy was moving inside it.

A group of travelers who had entered the fog earlier were running back.

One man shouted, "Do not enter! There is a spirit tide ahead!"

Qin Lian’s expression changed.

"Spirit tide?"

The man nodded rapidly.

"The river burst its banks. The spiritual water is flooding the valley."

Mo Yuxin looked beyond the fog.

She could already see it.

A vast silver wave was moving through the valley.

It was not water in the normal sense.

The river had mixed with a rich spiritual vein, turning the flood into something powerful enough to crush ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivators.

Qin Lian shouted orders.

"Move the herb wagons to higher ground!"

Guards rushed into action.

The caravan began climbing the slope.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing followed.

Halfway up the hill, Su Yubing suddenly stopped.

"There are people behind us."

Mo Yuxin turned.

A small family caravan was trapped below.

Three adults and two children were struggling to pull their carriage through the mud.

The spiritual flood was coming closer.

Mo Yuxin immediately stepped down the slope.

Qin Lian shouted, "Senior!"

Mo Yuxin waved her off.

"Take the others up."

She walked through the mud.

The spiritual water reached her feet.

The ground shook.

A wall of water rushed toward her.

Mo Yuxin raised one hand.

The entire flood divided around her.

A dry road opened through the middle of the valley.

The family stared at her in disbelief.

Mo Yuxin pointed toward the hill.

"Take the carriage and move."

The father nodded desperately.

They pushed forward.

The flood continued flowing on both sides.

Su Yubing stood at the top of the hill and watched.

Her expression was soft.

She knew Mo Yuxin would never say it out loud, but helping strangers had become one of the things she liked most about traveling.

When the family reached safety, Mo Yuxin released the barrier.

The flood joined again with a tremendous roar.

She returned to Su Yubing.

Su Yubing took a cloth and wiped mud from Mo Yuxin’s cheek.

"You got dirty."

"A little."

"Stand still."

Mo Yuxin obeyed immediately.

Su Yubing cleaned her face carefully.

Then she smiled.

"Better."

Mo Yuxin leaned closer.

"Still dirty?"

"No."

"Check again."

Su Yubing narrowed her eyes.

"You are only making excuses to stay close."

"Yes."

Su Yubing laughed and kissed her cheek.

"Satisfied?"

"A little."

"Greedy."

The spiritual flood finally receded after nearly two hours.

The valley was left covered in wet silver mud.

The caravan had lost two wagons but no people.

The family they had saved came to thank them repeatedly.

They offered several bags of dried spirit fruit.

Mo Yuxin initially refused.

Su Yubing accepted them.

Mo Yuxin looked at her.

"Why?"

"They are fruit."

"We have fruit."

"More is better."

Mo Yuxin nodded seriously.

"True."

The father smiled.

"You two really are married."

Su Yubing gave Mo Yuxin a look.

"How did you know?"

He laughed.

"No unmarried pair argues that naturally."

They resumed the journey the next morning.

A day later, the caravan reached a smaller cultivation settlement built around a hot spring.

The settlement was called Warmstone Town.

Its hot springs were famous because they contained a mineral that relaxed the body and made cultivation easier.

For ordinary cultivators, a few hours in the spring could help recover from injuries.

For Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing, it was simply comfortable.

Su Yubing immediately decided they were staying for one night.

Mo Yuxin did not object.

Their room had a private spring behind a wooden screen.

The water was warm.

Steam floated over the surface.

Su Yubing sat with her hair tied loosely while Mo Yuxin rested against the stone edge.

For a while, they said nothing.

It was one of those rare quiet moments where they did not have to move, solve anything, or pay attention to the world.

Su Yubing closed her eyes.

"This is nice."

"Yes."

"Maybe we should stay two days."

"We can stay a week."

Su Yubing opened her eyes.

"Then we will never reach Thousand Dao City."

"We will eventually."

"You would actually be willing to spend a week here?"

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"With you? Yes."
