Mommy, Daddy Has Already Regretted It
Chapter 208: Estelle Lockwood Infuriates Yvonne Lancaster
Chapter 208: Chapter 208: Estelle Lockwood Infuriates Yvonne Lancaster
The person outside the door flew into a rage, raising his voice to cover up his embarrassment. "Nathaniel Sloan, did you not hear me talking to you? You know exactly how you got your current status!"
Estelle Lockwood put down her chopsticks and turned her head to look at the group of people who had interrupted her meal.
The man leading the group looked to be in his thirties, his face clouded with a sinister expression. Behind him was Yvonne Lancaster, flanked by an entourage like the moon surrounded by stars. Further back stood the man they had previously encountered downstairs at the Evernight Group—Theodore Lancaster.
Theodore gave her a slight nod, every bit the perfect gentleman.
Estelle finally spoke, drawing out her words with a slow, deliberate cadence tinged with mockery. "Ah, so it’s the Lancasters."
Oblivious to her tone, the man at the door thought Estelle was actually intimidated.
"Scared? Heh, Nathaniel Sloan, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll come over here and grovel. Otherwise, even if I beat you to a pulp right here, people will only praise the Lancaster Family for valuing loyalty and justice! After all, you’re just an illegitimate son. Everything I’m doing is for our late Miss Lancaster!"
Estelle clicked her tongue in amusement.
Nathaniel acted as if he hadn’t heard a word, his expression as calm as ever.
The whole scene looked as though the Lancaster lackey was putting on a one-man mime show, jumping up and down like a trained monkey. After barking his head off for three full minutes, the man finally realized no one was paying him any mind. His face turned ashen, and he flew into a humiliated rage. "Nathaniel Sloan!"
He glared into the private dining room, his words turning foul. "Oh, the little ones are here too. If the older one is a bastard, then what the hell are these three little ones? I think—AH!"
Before he could finish, Estelle had casually retracted her hand. A teacup had smashed squarely into the man’s mouth!
"You... you..." The man touched his mouth, his lips numb from the stinging pain. He flinched, slightly afraid of getting hit again, but upon seeing Yvonne and remembering the potential rewards waiting for him later, he gritted his teeth.
"Nathaniel Sloan, you’re just going to let Estelle Lockwood hit me, huh? Fine, fine! Today, I’ll teach you a good lesson on behalf of Miss Lancaster. I’ll show you the difference between superiors and subordinates. A bastard like you is worse than a dog in the Lancaster Family—"
The man strode quickly into the room, raising his fist to smash it into Nathaniel’s face. In the next split second, Estelle kicked a chair beside her. The chair slid across the smooth floor, and with a loud "AARGH!", the man crashed to the ground.
Estelle stared at him. She thought, "What a useless piece of trash."
Yvonne’s eyes darkened. She finally stepped forward and spoke. "Miss Lockwood, we have no intention of targeting you. We just want to catch up with Nathaniel. Aren’t you taking things a bit too far?"
Estelle shot her a sidelong glance. "Catch up? I wasn’t aware that the Second Miss Lancaster and Nathaniel had any history to catch up on."
Yvonne was indeed a socialite groomed by the Lancaster Family for years; even in the face of Estelle’s blatantly sarcastic remark, she still managed to maintain her smile.
"Once our Theodore returns to the Sloan Family, we’ll all be one big family. I know someone on our side got a bit too worked up just now, but it was all for my sister’s sake.
"Unlike Mr. Sloan, Theodore grew up without a mother, so they were just a little passionate. Surely Miss Lockwood can understand that, right?"
Having said her piece, Yvonne looked at Estelle with a beaming smile.
Estelle’s gaze swept over the Lancasters before she casually brushed a strand of hair back. "Is that so? So this is Theodore’s idea?"
Yvonne shook her head. "Of course not. Theodore has been kind-hearted since he was a child. Even after learning about Nathaniel’s true identity, he has never deliberately targeted him. It’s just that whenever I see Nathaniel, I think of my sister who passed away so early, and I can’t help but feel a deep sense of injustice."
"Ah, so it’s the Second Miss Lancaster who feels a deep sense of injustice." Estelle nodded in mock understanding. "However, I’m a bit curious. Why exactly do you feel so wronged?
"After all, the person originally meant to marry Chairman Sloan was you, Second Miss Lancaster. You looked down on the marriage arrangement and pushed Miss Lancaster to take your place. Now that Miss Lancaster is dead... Second Miss, you should be feeling guilty, not wronged."
Yvonne’s face drastically changed!
A few of the younger Lancaster generation instinctively looked at her. Although many people knew about this incident, no one had brought it up for years out of respect for Yvonne’s reputation. As a result, these younger family members had no idea about the truth of the matter.
Yvonne’s face darkened. "Estelle Lockwood, as a junior, you’d best learn what can and cannot be said!"
Estelle replied lazily, "Don’t be angry, Second Miss Lancaster. It’s not a secret anyway. Go out and ask around; plenty of people know the truth.
"I’m just curious. When you made Miss Lancaster take your place in the marriage, you didn’t feel a sense of injustice. When Miss Lancaster passed away, you didn’t feel a sense of injustice. When you were having afternoon tea with the mistress who caused Miss Lancaster’s death, you didn’t feel a sense of injustice either.
"So why is it that the moment you see Nathaniel Sloan, you’re suddenly overwhelmed with this deep sense of injustice?
"When Chairman Sloan was having an affair, when Laura Jennings successfully schemed her way from the mistress to the wife, when Miss Lancaster died... what were you doing then, Second Miss Lancaster? Were you feeling wronged?
"How is it that when Miss Lancaster was alive, the Lancaster Family put you on a pedestal, but now that she’s dead, the family has suddenly discovered its conscience?"
Estelle feigned a look of distress. "I really don’t understand. Could you explain it to me, Second Miss Lancaster?"
Nathaniel’s lips curled into a faint smile.
Zachery was speechless. He thought, "Mommy! Do you have any idea how hard it is to hold back a laugh? I’m almost brainwashed by your ’sense of injustice’!"
Yvonne’s lips trembled with rage. "Estelle Lockwood!"
"Don’t be angry, Mrs. Lancaster. Oh, right, there’s another thing I can’t wrap my head around. Since you’re here, I might as well ask you." Estelle’s face was a picture of sheer bewilderment. "Second Miss Lancaster, your mother successfully schemed her way from the mistress to the chairman’s wife, but surely you haven’t forgotten your own origins?
"Since you despise Nathaniel for being an ’illegitimate son’, shouldn’t you also despise yourself? After all, you’re an illegitimate daughter too, aren’t you?"
The entire private dining room was dead silent.
The younger generation of the Lancasters who had accompanied Yvonne looked at each other in dismay, none of them daring to utter a single word.
For years, Yvonne had touted herself as the legitimate heiress of the Lancaster Family. Even during everyday socialite gatherings, she looked down on those born out of wedlock. After all, in her own mind, how could she be considered an illegitimate daughter? Miranda was the bitch who had stolen her rightful place. Why should she be labeled as illegitimate?
But now that Estelle had brought it up so publicly, Yvonne felt the piercing gazes of everyone around her, silently mocking her!
Yvonne took a deep breath, forcing a threatening smile. "Miss Lockwood, I hope you understand that loose lips sink ships."
"Is the Second Miss Lancaster threatening me?" Estelle asked with a bright smile.
"You!" Yvonne was flustered and exasperated.
"Aunt Yvonne, there’s no need to be angry." Suddenly, a clear, soothing male voice rang out. Theodore maintained his mild, polite demeanor. "We didn’t come here today just to pick a fight with Nathaniel."
Yvonne finally remembered the main reason for their visit. Smoothing out her emotions, she adopted a condescending tone. "That’s right. Nathaniel Sloan, hand over that plot of land you have in Sorhaven to Theodore."
Mia and Zachery exchanged a glance. Catching on immediately, Mia gave a firm nod.
