Mommy, Daddy Has Already Regretted It
Chapter 209: As Expected of Her Cubs
Chapter 209: Chapter 209: As Expected of Her Cubs
Yvonne Lancaster glared daggers at Nathaniel Sloan, looking as though she would eat the man alive if he dared to utter a single word of refusal.
Nathaniel slowly lifted his gaze. "If he wants that plot of land, he can rely on his own abilities to bid for it. Yield it to him? Is he a useless piece of trash?"
Furious, Yvonne slammed her hand on the table. "Nathaniel Sloan! Look at your status, and look at Theodore’s! You actually dare to bid for something Theodore wants? What right do you have to bid against him!
"I advise you to be smart and hand over that land on a silver platter. Don’t force my hand!"
"Daddy~"
Right at that moment, Mia suddenly called out sweetly. Blinking her big eyes, she said, "Daddy, did you steal someone else’s thing? That’s not right of you!"
Yvonne’s anger hadn’t even subsided yet. Hearing this, she sneered, "Nathaniel, take a look. Even your daughter is more sensible than you! At least she knows that stealing from others is a disgrace!"
Mia continued her earnest pleading. "Daddy, even though you said you can bid fairly, it’s never good to snatch things from a child. You should give it back~"
Yvonne felt that something was off.
After saying that, Mia turned her head and asked innocently, "By the way, Ms. Yvonne, how old is Theodore? Is he five years old like me?"
The room fell into a dead silence once more.
Christian spoke up at this moment. "Mia, you misunderstood. Theodore isn’t a brother, he’s an adult. He’s the same age as Daddy."
"What? The same age as Daddy~" Mia widened her eyes, looking back and forth between them before finally resting her gaze on Yvonne, looking extremely puzzled. "If he’s the same age as Daddy, why can’t he bid fairly?
"Doesn’t everything in the business world revolve around fair competition? Why can Daddy compete, but Mr. Theodore can’t? It’s one thing if he doesn’t have the capability to compete, but demanding Daddy to yield it to him—what kind of logic is that?"
Yvonne grew impatient. "Because..."
"Oh~ I get it! It’s because Mr. Theodore is a useless piece of trash!"
Mia finished the sentence naturally, her tone perfectly innocent.
Yvonne nearly choked to death on her own breath. However, Mia put on an expression of sudden realization. "I thought Mr. Theodore was five years old too! Running to tell a parent just because he can’t win a competition... Even I don’t tattle anymore. Shame on him~
"But if all of this is based on the fact that Mr. Theodore is a piece of trash, then it makes total sense!
"After all, since he’s useless, it’s normal that he can’t win at anything and has to resort to tattling. I completely understand~
"Mr. Theodore, I’m so jealous of you. Even though you’re as old as my daddy, you’re still a child who will never grow up in Ms. Yvonne’s heart. It’s quite nice. Maybe this is what they mean by retaining a childlike innocence."
Zachery silently gave her a thumbs-up in his mind.
Low emotional intelligence: You’re a man-child.
High emotional intelligence: Mr. Theodore retains a childlike innocence~
"You... you..." Yvonne’s fingers trembled. When had she ever been subjected to such humiliation? Her face turned livid as she shrieked furiously, "Nathaniel Sloan! This is your daughter. She really is just like you— Ah!"
Nathaniel nonchalantly raised his eyes as a ceramic teacup flew from his hand, striking Yvonne precisely on the mouth. The pain instantly silenced her.
He lightly blew away the tea leaves floating in his cup. "Ms. Lancaster, if you don’t know how to speak, I can teach you."
Glancing impassively at the manager, his fingertips lightly tapped the table as his eyes narrowed with profound meaning.
"If Young Mr. Lancaster wants that land, he can bid for it at any time. A plot valued at over ten billion has only reached nine billion in the auction so far. The Lancaster Family should be able to afford this meager amount."
Yvonne clutched her mouth, her eyes fierce and menacing. The rest of the Lancasters exchanged nervous glances, none daring to stick their neck out.
Zachery cleared his throat lightly. "Daddy, don’t be so fierce. I think that when something should be yielded, you have to yield it! Ms. Yvonne is only doing this for your own good!"
Saying this, Zachery turned his head. "Don’t worry, Ms. Yvonne. I’ll definitely persuade Daddy to yield that land!"
Yvonne’s stifled fury eased slightly at these words. It seemed Nathaniel’s son was a reasonable person...
But before she could fully calm down, Zachery continued.
"Daddy, you have plenty of other projects in your hands besides this plot of land. With your abilities, even if you lose this land, you can make the money back on other projects.
"But Mr. Theodore can’t do that!
"Mr. Theodore is a useless piece of trash, and this might be his last chance! Do you know how many years he’s waited for an opportunity like this?! Twenty-eight years! A whole twenty-eight years! Oh my god! I can’t even imagine what Mr. Theodore would do if he lost this chance! What if his fragile man-child heart shattered into pieces?
"Having his self-confidence shattered is a small matter, but what if Mr. Theodore can’t withstand the blow and loses the will to live? What then?
"That’s why I suggest you yield this opportunity to Mr. Theodore, Daddy. After all, saving a life is the greatest of virtues. This might be the only chance Mr. Theodore ever gets in his entire life. Boohoo, I just can’t bear it! Daddy, just agree to it!"
The private room plunged into a dead silence.
Yvonne’s fingers trembled, her face livid. She was shaking all over with sheer rage. "Y-you all..."
"By the way," Zachery added, delivering a fatal finishing blow. "Which one of you is Mr. Theodore? If he wants that land so badly, why isn’t he fighting for it himself? Could Mia be right? Is Mr. Theodore truly a man-child?"
Estelle Lockwood chuckled. He really was her brilliant little cub!
Yvonne’s face flushed beet red, unable to utter a single word for a long time. However, Theodore Lancaster, who stood behind her, merely smiled. His expression was completely natural, as if he couldn’t understand Zachery’s mockery at all.
"Mr. Sloan’s children are truly quite amusing."
Theodore smiled and said, "Aunt Yvonne, since Mr. Sloan is spending time with his children, why don’t we discuss this another day?"
Yvonne steadied her nerves and scoffed coldly. "Since Theodore has said so, Nathaniel, I’ll give you two more days to think about it! Once the auction begins, it won’t be up to you to decide!
"Oh, and I must remind you—the Lancaster Family’s financial prowess is beyond anything you can compare to. Don’t let things escalate into an ugly confrontation where everyone burns their bridges. If that happens, you’ll be the only one humiliated!"
With that said, Yvonne waved her hand dismissively and stormed out, her high heels going CLACK CLACK CLACK against the floor.
Surprisingly, Theodore leaned down and crouched in front of Mia. Acting like a perfect gentleman, he said, "Mia, I’m very sorry for interrupting your meal today. This visit was rather sudden. Next time we meet, I’ll bring you a gift."
Mia curled her lips. If she hadn’t known exactly what kind of person Theodore Lancaster was, she would have been completely fooled by his facade!
After speaking, Theodore walked out with perfect composure.
Mia pursed her lips. "So pretentious. He’s exactly like that bad old lady!"
Christian was speechless. He thought, "I have to admit, you hit the nail right on the head."
After the meal concluded, they returned to Imperial Crest.
It wasn’t until the children were asleep that Luke White followed Nathaniel into the study.
Nathaniel’s expression remained perfectly calm. "What stage are we at?"
